Chapter 229: Welcome
"If I do this, I want to do it right. It's not as if having more people is absolutely certain to be beneficial for us. The main fighting force of the Empire will be us, and the things that I create. Why create an unnecessary weakness for others to exploit when we don't need to?"
Elias didn't know if he was going to live long enough to fulfil this one fleeting dream to create an everlasting place that could make earth outlast the entire upper realm, that could decide the face of smaller worlds on a whim.
Even if it looked like nothing more than a child's dream, he didn't want to compromise on it. He believed in his dreams, to ensure that they could come true one day.
"I am not going to change my mind. So you don't have to try it," he said, noticing that Astralious wasn't quite confident about his plan.
Unlike him, Astralious was a Constellation that loved being worshipped by the people. The more people there were in the world, the more elated he would have been.
"Are you really certain that it's what you want? You know there is also a thing called the power of faith. If you bring people, instead of doing everything alone, and they worship you, it'll only make you stronger."
Astralious still didn't give up, and even shared an important piece of information that Elias hadn't known yet.
"If you truly start an immortal empire, they would worship you as the Emperor. With the power of faith, you would only become stronger. You might even be able to become a Constellation."
"Didn't you have the power of faith? You were treated as a god in many worlds. Yet a much weaker father of mine defeated you," Elias retorted.
His intention wasn't to insult Astralious, but simply to remind him that there were people that didn't need to rely on the power of faith.
As long as he kept getting stronger and evolving his class, he could easily surpass all Constellations in existence, especially now that he had these flames besides his class.
"This..." Astralious went silent. He did have the power of faith. It was what made him evolve a Constellation eventually, but it didn't make him strong enough to face Elias's father, who had already gone through multiple evolutions.
"The power of faith can't help me defeat my father, let alone the entire upper realm. Even if it can make him stronger, it is not to the extent of changing anything," Elias said. "I would rather not take the power of faith.
"That day is still far away. Maybe you will change your mind later." Astralious didn't try to forget his view on Elias, since he could always do that later.
Elias didn't know what the power of faith could actually do. He was sure that it was only a matter of time before he learned about its uses, and that's when he was going to change his mind.
Even if he didn't change his mind in the end, it doesn't matter much as long as he could gain a real body and become a human. .
Ophilia had gone to the Administrative Department to arrange Elias's transfer, but the information had already been sent to Freya.
Freya was at a loss, as this was the first time in a long while since Ophilia had taken an interest in someone. She couldn't let her spoil her plans, but she also couldn't stop Ophilia entirely.
If she did try to stop her from taking Elias, then it was definitely going to create some unnecessary problems. Freya felt like she was stuck in a troublesome situation, and there was only one solution that she could think of.
Her solution was to send Elias away on this 'trip' before the transfer proceedings were actually completed. Once Elias had left the Academy with the others, even Ophilia couldn't do anything.
"Make sure to keep her busy, and delay her as much as possible. Make sure she doesn't leave the Administration office," Freya delivered a message, and arranged everything to keep Ophilia busy.
At the same time, she also sent a message to the delegation of Chronos, that they were leaving earlier than the scheduled time. She also sent a similar schedule to the other students that were meant to leave with Chronos' delegation.
Within half an hour, everything was hastily arranged. And for this trip, the academy had decided to use the battleship of Chronos. Chronos didn't raise any issues either, and instead the delegation looked only pleased.
A person arrived before Elias's door, and knocked on it three times.
"I suppose you're here to take me for the so-called examination?" Elias asked from the roof, as he jumped down. "Let's go."
He followed the Professor, which brought him through a void portal, something that could have them travel without the need of Dimensional Gates.
Within seconds, Elias was standing before a grand ship that he had only seen once before. It was the ship in which the delegation of Chronos had arrived.
"Are we not going to use the Academy's Ba-"
"Enough questions. Hurry up." The Professor didn't even let him finish his question. He grabbed Elias's wrists, a little too forcibly and took him up the ramp.
"You do realize that I'm not a prisoner. Even if you release my hand, I won't run away," Elias said while being dragged by his hand. However, the Professor didn't listen.
The Professor only released his hand after entering the battleship, where most of the other students that were selected for this thing had already gathered.
The group was largely made up of the Seniors of the Academy, but there was another group that belonged purely of the youngsters that had come from Chronos.
The Academy's group had larger numbers, but the momentum of the Chronos children felt stronger, especially since they were being led by the girl that was the only person to return alive from the Tomb that had recently appeared in the Academy.
Elias only glanced at the girl for a brief moment, and noticed that her wounds had already healed. Her hand wasn't missing anymore, and she looked just like the day she had arrived at the Academy with her father.
After Elias was brought inside the battleship, the Professor turned around and left swiftly. He had completed the task assigned to him.
'Are they leaving us at the hands of outsiders entirely?' Elias thought, watching the doors of the battleship close after the ramp was pulled back mechanically.
So far, he had only seen one Professor that brought him here. But even that person left. Didn't it mean that there was no one to protect them at this place? If Chronos wanted, then all of them could be killed.
Even if the Academy wanted him dead, they wouldn't go so far as putting the lives of the seniors in danger, especially since they looked to be quite strong and talented.
Even his Analysis had managed to find quite a lot of gems that were stronger than an ordinary professor at the Academy.
"You must be the last person who was selected. I did hear that a newbie would be joining us this time."
Elias had expected some hostility, but to his surprise, he was welcomed by the academy students with a smile. Maybe it was because they were seniors and didn't feel jealous or threatened by him.
He wondered if they didn't know that he was from the Ashborn Family, but he quickly rejected that thought. At this point, who in the Academy didn't know that there was only one newbie left alive in the Destroyer Class, and it was an Ashborn Descendant.
It wasn't that they didn't know his identity. It was just that they didn't really care. In their eyes, even if he came from a prestigious family, and was stronger for his generation, he was still a child that couldn't threaten them.
Most of them were almost adults and were going to graduate the next year, so they weren't going to have much interaction with the Ashborn Descendant. So they took it as a good opportunity to get a favorable impression, especially since it didn't hurt them.
It was highly likely that the child was going to die on this trip, but if he survived, that meant he would've been destined for greatness in the future. There was no harm in being kind.
It was also beneficial for Elias that the students selected this time weren't from families that were at odds with the Ashborn Family.
It was partially because they were going to the Ashborn Territory, but also a step from the Academy to ensure that the students could focus on the true goal, rather than having to worry about retaliation from the Ashborn Family in their territory.
"You must be really talented, to be selected for something so dangerous." Many students came forward, and welcomed Elias.
They said that Elias was selected because of his talent, but deep down, they all believed that he was selected because they were going to Ashborn Territory, and his inclusion could make them get help from the owner of the Territory.
None really knew that the Academy wasn't really the one to select him. It was Chronos that wanted him this time.
