Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Three Clips
Annie flashed a yellow light as she dove in front of Graves. With a loud cry of "Tibbers," a massive bear descended from the sky, landing squarely on Graves's head and stunning him.
Instantly, he lost a third of his health. Then, with a Q, a W, and a Q from Miss Fortune, Graves was down to a quarter.
It truly took one second.
And then, within that same split second, a Warwick suddenly leaped out of the brush and pounced on Annie's tiny frame. Then, with a Q from Janna, and after Graves' stun, a Q and a R, he finished Annie off.
How should I put it? It was pretty much expected. Although Xia Xin knew this would be the outcome, he hadn't expected it to be so clean and tidy.
Liu He, the squad leader of Squad 2, laughed heartily. "I knew she wouldn't fight back early. She definitely wouldn't be able to hold back at level 6. She's waiting for a burst of damage at level 6, so she's been waiting here for ages."
Lu Ming said, "Hey, now it's my turn to freak out. Nine minutes in, I've already hit 62 hits, plus a kill, and the policewoman on the other side only hit 25. What can she possibly do to me?"
Watching Annie's small figure disappear into the crowd, Xia Xin farmed as if nothing had happened.
Mao Pang quickly said, "Xia Xin, use your ultimate. With that little health, he'll be dead if you use it."
"Oh, okay."
Never try to explain things to lower-rank players; it's pointless.
Xia Xin symbolically raised his sniper rifle, "Let the bullets fly." As expected, his ultimate was blocked by Feng Nu mid-flight.
Mao Pang slammed his hand on the table. "What a shame, it was just a little bit off."
Just a little bit? Why did it feel like it was a lot off?
The only benefit of Mao Pang's death was that Xia Xin could farm.
However, Graves came out with a greatsword and a 875-level pickaxe, while Xia Xin only had an 875-level, making it impossible to hold down the lane.
The situation unfolded as expected.
Mid laner Clockwork said, "Master, you're a jungler, why don't you go gank? The opposing jungler keeps ganking me."
Master: "Oh, I forgot. Sorry, I was just too busy farming."
Xia Xin would occasionally see a list of his teammates dying.
Looking at the dashboard, he saw everyone had died two or three times. The only one who hadn't was Miss Fortune.
Although Graves had an item advantage and was pressing harder, Miss Fortune was also rather timid, which annoyed him greatly. He failed to force a kill on her several times. He even called in the jungler and tried to over the tower, but they only managed to kill Annie and not Miss Fortune, allowing her to escape at 200 health. Janna was even killed by the tower, allowing Miss Fortune to snatch the kill.
Graves wasn't feeling anything either. The policewoman ran away the moment she attacked him. She was such a coward, a complete wimp, not even daring to turn around and attack. But... she just couldn't kill him.
That was natural. Xia Xin's awareness was king-level, after all. Killing him solo, catching him down, wasn't easy.
Annie built a hat, and seeing no chance in the bottom lane, she roamed. Like any new player who builds a new item, they always like to practice with someone.
Graves also let Janna roam.
The policewoman was finally able to farm on her own.
The only difference was that the enemy Janna had an eyestone and had wards in the bottom lane bush, the river, and even the blue-side bush, while our Annie had a hat, leaving the bottom lane completely dark.
The policewoman could only rely on her awareness to guess when someone might come.
Dema said, "Gan top, four people in top lane, I can't hold this tower."
Crocodile, Fizz, Janna, and Warwick were pushing the outer tower in top lane.
"Right now."
Clockwork and Annie also rushed up.
"Three on three, top, Blademaster, you flank."
"Okay."
Dema gave the order, and the three rushed forward.
Xia Xin silently glanced at the kills. Ours was 12, the enemy had 21. Equipment was irrelevant.
Another characteristic of low-ranking players is that they don't shy away. Just go for it. Take on anyone they see, no questions asked.
Their thinking is simple and brutal.
I'll take on anyone I dislike.
What? Garen's 1 vs. 3, Crocodile's 3 vs. 1. So what? I'll take you down.
You say we're down 9 kills?
Those few kills don't matter. We'll kill them.
You say our equipment is inferior to theirs?
Equipment is nothing, just a passing fancy.
4 vs. 4, with equal numbers, there's no way we're going to lose.
"Go."
With two quick Qs, Miss Fortune cleared a wave of minions and prepared to push down the lower tower. Graves, having calculated the timing perfectly, emerged from his home base.
I checked Graves's equipment. Wow, Annie had given away several kills. He already had an Infinity Edge and a Static Knife at 25 minutes, while Miss Fortune only had one Red Cross and 875 HP, a whole extra Infinity Edge.
Miss Fortune managed to hit the tower twice, but Graves' E charged in, knocking out half of his HP with two hits. He quickly used an E to hit Graves and retreated to create distance.
Graves was about to zoom in, but after checking Miss Fortune's HP, he gave up. He was definitely going home. Damn, if only he could have hit her just once more.
The adorable Miss Fortune, sniper in hand, ran back to the bushes near the blue side. She placed a ward in the purple bushes and started to head back to the tower.
The scene then cut to a 4v4 battle in top lane. The situation was incredibly brutal, with our team losing miserably. Blademaster, using his ultimate, circled from behind, watched three people being whipped to death, and quickly turned and fled, now being pursued by four others.
Legacy lived up to his Platinum status, having already secured a triple kill.
Catwoman's screen also froze on the fleeing Blademaster, a 4-on-1 deficit.
Little did they know, Graves was laughing.
Hey, shabby, you were recalling there. Thank goodness I was careful and had the support place a ward. You're still alive this time? One hit, one ultimate, and you're dead.
The fight in top lane was so intense, I guess she was looking there.
Graves crept closer, preparing to hunt the figure in the bushes.
Catwoman's glow grew faster and faster. Graves sneered. "You want to leave? Did you ask me?"
With a single R skill, the Ultimate Bomb was unleashed, interrupting Miss Fortune's recall.
Miss Fortune was left with only 66 HP, standing dazed in the brush.
I knew you weren't watching your hero. One single blow would have finished you off. 25 minutes in, I finally managed to kill you once. Damn, killing you ten times in one blow probably wouldn't be possible.
Afraid Miss Fortune would notice his escape, Graves used his E skill to hasten his escape, dashing headfirst into the brush.
Meanwhile, Juggernaut was once again slain by a Warwick that leaped out of the brush. "Quatary Kill" appeared in bright red letters on the screen.
Mao Pang finally saw the situation clearly, slammed his hand on the table, and sighed. This game was going to be a black sheep.
The same thing happened to the others. In a 4v4, not a single enemy player was killed.
The only remaining spark was Miss Fortune's ADC, but she was only Bronze 5.
Almost everyone's attention shifted to the bottom lane.
Then they discovered a trinket ward in the middle brush. They watched Graves approach the policewoman, who was standing in the brush on the left, recalling to base. Her health was at 66, her bar almost gone.
Mao Pang quickly pushed Xia Xin, "Xia Xin, run! Graves is coming."
Xia Xin shook his head, staring at the corpse of the Blademaster on screen. He said calmly, "Don't worry! I'm recalling! He can't hit me."
"No, Graves' ultimate interrupted your recall. Run! Look at the bottom lane! You're out of health."
"What are you talking about? How could I be out of health? I still have half a bar."
Xia Xin didn't believe it.
"Look," Mao Pang pointed at his screen. On the screen, the policewoman stood there stupidly, while Graves approached.
No, it was too late. Mao Pang was desperate. Even the last spark of his fire was about to be gone.
He covered his eyes, afraid to look.
It wasn't just him; even the four members of Class 2 were down to zero health. They recalled to base and shifted their sights to the bottom lane, ready to watch Graves kill Lady Police and give them an ace.
One shot, just one shot away.
Graves walked, a smile plastered across his face, but he wasn't watching his step. With a "click," he was caught in a trap.
There was a trap in the brush, a blind spot, and with the minimap full of kills, it couldn't be seen.
15 seconds of stun.
Then something magical happened.
Lady Police, with her long reach and no nearby minions, naturally attacked the nearest enemy, Graves.
But Graves's reach was short, notoriously so. Lady Police could reach him, leaving him standing there.
Lady Police, holding her little gun, fired again and again.
With the red cross and attack-speed boots, Lady Police's attack speed was pretty good, though... her damage was... quite low.
Fatty Mao was overjoyed, pushing Xia Xin several times. "You're so lucky! He's been trapped! Run, run!"
"Oh, okay."
Xia Xin was still a little dazed, staring at Fatty Mao's keyboard without moving.
Under everyone's noses, Male Gun took three hits from the Policewoman, his health bar reduced by more than a quarter before he began to move.
The Policewoman's attack was truly low.
Male Gun didn't take him seriously. He wanted to laugh out loud. The Policewoman had a red cross as her first item. Did she lose health when she hit someone? She was no match for Bronze 5.
But Male Gun had barely taken a step forward when another trap slammed in, a "click" sound, pinning him to the brush.
Male Gun couldn't help but curse, "Stupid! Two traps!"
The Policewoman remained motionless, her pistol in hand, firing again and again. She had the red cross Phantom Dancer on her, with a 35% critical hit rate.
The first three hits didn't crit, but then two more landed critical hits. Furthermore, the level 13 policewoman, in the brush, had a passive that meant she'd get a headshot after every three hits. This second hit instantly reduced the male gunner's health bar to one-third.
But compared to the policewoman's 80 health, the male gunner's 500 health was a lot.
Then, the male gunner waited for the pin to end, took another half step forward, and another "click" was heard.
Under everyone's noses, the policewoman fired again and again, using the male gunner as a target. 400 health, 0 health, 110 health. The male gunner moved, took a half step forward, and finally raised his spear, bringing the policewoman into striking range.
At the same time, the policewoman's final blow also landed on his head, a headshot.
The screen displayed the message that the policewoman had killed the male gunner. The end, 500 yuan.
This was what everyone was thinking at the time.
"...?"
"...?"
"...?"
The policewoman, with only a few drops of health left, faced a fully-healthed Graves.
She stood there motionless in the brush, unused a single skill, and then, as if she were a target, she attacked and killed the fully-healthed Graves.
Everyone stared at the screen with wide eyes, in disbelief.
They watched helplessly as the policewoman looked around bewilderedly, ran around, and seeing no one around, she returned to her base, as if nothing had happened.
So silly and cute.
But... there was a corpse in another bush.
Someone said, "Graves, who has an extra Infinity Edge than the policewoman, got attacked like a deadly dagger."
As soon as the words left their mouths, Lu Ming, with a ferocious expression, slammed his fist down on the table. No one dared to speak.
Liu He patted Lu Ming's shoulder. "Don't be angry. We're definitely going to win this round anyway. Think about that 500 yuan. Let's go get hot pot tonight."
"Yeah, don't be angry. That idiot is only Bronze 5, and he actually put three clamps together. He's just lucky this time."
Who's the real idiot? The policewoman with the three clamps together? Or the male gunner who got savaged to death? Everyone knew it.
Lu Ming's face darkened. "This loser is just incredibly lucky. He always survives with barely any health left. Liu He, help me catch him. I'll just kill him, damn it."
Lu Ming was practically mad with rage.
Liu He patted his chest and said, "Okay, watch me. Let's catch her. I have enough equipment now to kill him instantly."
