Chapter 39: Chapter 39 Raikiri! Kakashi's Shock!
That huge dragon, seemingly possessing self-awareness, was dancing wildly amidst the ice crystals!
"Hey, Sasuke, don't you also know Fire Style? You can use this Fire Style too, right?!" Naruto poked Sasuke with a teasing tone, his eyes wide with amazement.
Sasuke rolled his eyes in frustration. If he could actually wield such a powerful Fire Style technique, would he still be trapped in this predicament?!
As the ice mirrors melted, Kakashi, watching from the sidelines, was equally stunned by the display.
"Hiss~~"
Taking a deep breath, Kakashi muttered, "B-rank ninjutsu... Great Fire Dragon Technique. Morkel can already perform it at this level!"
"He's controlling it freely! His precision in manipulating Chakra is terrifying!"
Meanwhile, in the water prison controlled by Kakashi, Zabuza was equally astonished as he witnessed the unfolding spectacle.
One thought echoed in his mind—who exactly was that red-haired boy?
Most ninjas struggle with elemental jutsu at the age of twelve. Yet, this kid had already mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique. He wielded Fire Style, Water Style, and Lightning Style like a seasoned shinobi!
Even the Rasengan was within his grasp!
Most terrifying of all, this boy wasn't just strong—he was cunning. He understood strategy, deception, and how to manipulate the battlefield to his advantage.
"Konoha has truly produced a remarkable prodigy," Zabuza admitted begrudgingly.
"Really? So, do you also think Morkel has the upper hand?" Kakashi smirked, his eyes filled with confidence in his student.
"No," Zabuza countered firmly. "Haku will not lose. Your apprentice has yet to be tested by life-and-death combat."
Kakashi didn't argue. While Morkel had killed before—burning two assassins on the way to Wave Country—it hadn't been a true battle. There had been no clash of wills, no test of endurance in prolonged combat.
In a way, Morkel had yet to fully become a ninja.
"Believe it or not, even if he hasn't faced that test yet, he will still triumph here today," Kakashi asserted.
"We'll see," Zabuza replied. "Haku is a rare talent in taijutsu, and more importantly, he can form seals with just one hand. That kind of ability is incredibly rare."
Meanwhile, as the last of the ice mirrors crumbled, Haku stood exposed, slightly disoriented from the battle's sudden shift.
Morkel signaled Naruto and Sasuke with a glance, urging them to retreat. "I'll handle him."
"Be careful," Sasuke warned as he helped Naruto move to safety. "His Ice Release is tricky."
On the bridge, Morkel and Haku stood face-to-face.
"You are an exceptional ninja," Haku admitted, admiration in his voice. "You will undoubtedly become famous one day."
Morkel tilted his head. "Oh yeah?"
"Yes," Haku nodded. "You are the strongest among your peers that I've ever seen. That's why I want to fight you with everything I have."
Without further words, Haku lunged at Morkel.
Kunai in hand, Morkel charged forward to meet him.
Clang! Clang!
Their blades clashed again and again, sparks flying with each impact.
Suddenly—
Clang!
Their kunai locked together, pressing against each other. But then Morkel saw something unexpected—Haku was forming hand seals with his free hand!
Kakashi shouted from the sidelines, "Morkel, move! He can use one-handed seals!!"
Morkel blinked in surprise.
Isn't that just basic ninja training?
He didn't understand Kakashi's alarm. One-handed seals weren't that difficult, were they?
Not wanting to leave his teacher worried, Morkel casually turned and flashed Kakashi a thumbs-up.
Kakashi's eye twitched. "RUN! He's almost finished forming the seal!!"
Morkel hesitated for a moment before shifting his hand seals.
Kakashi's breath hitched. He recognized those hand signs instantly.
Ox—Rabbit—Monkey!
Lightning crackled as Chakra surged into Morkel's palm. High-voltage currents surged, producing a deafening chirping sound, like a thousand birds crying in unison!
Since his battle with Zabuza, Morkel had realized the potential of Lightning Release for paralysis and penetration. Over the past few days, he had been experimenting with it while repairing the bridge.
Now, he unleashed it.
Lightning danced across his fingers, wrapping around his palm in a lethal charge.
He called this technique—Piercing Hand.
...Okay, maybe he wasn't great at naming jutsu. But the technique itself was effective!
Kakashi, watching in stunned silence, had only one thought.
That's my Raikiri!!
When did this brat learn it?!
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the island, Inari ran from door to door, desperately knocking.
"Please! The bridge is under attack! We need to help!"
But every door closed in his face.
"Inari, we can't change anything," the villagers murmured behind locked doors.
Inari clenched his fists. "There are people fighting for us right now! If we don't stand up for ourselves, there will never be hope!"
His mother gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "Give up, Inari. Ever since your father passed, Wave Country has lost its courage."
"No! I won't give up!" Inari shouted, his eyes burning with determination. "That's what Brother Morkel taught me—courage and hope!"
Without hesitation, he ran off to knock on more doors.
Back on the bridge, the battle between Morkel and Haku raged on.
Lightning crackled as Morkel moved.
He didn't want to fight head-on—this attack was meant to disable Haku.
Sizzling electricity surged through the air.
"Pfft!"
His piercing hand technique struck true—Morkel's electrified palm plunged through Haku's right shoulder!
Haku gasped, blood spraying from the wound.
Zabuza's eyes widened in shock from within the water prison.
Kakashi's Sharingan gleamed with quiet approval.
And Morkel, standing over his fallen opponent, exhaled sharply, his gaze unwavering.
This battle wasn't over yet.
