Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Who Can Guide Him?!

Looking at the child's innocent expression, it didn't seem like he was lying at all!

Xiao Li stood frozen, struggling to process what he had just heard.

He had spent five or six years training in the Eight Inner Gates. Yet, after all those years of grueling effort, he had barely managed to open the Fifth Gate, and even then, he couldn't maintain it for long.

Xiao Li had always believed that hard work could rival natural talent. He trained endlessly, hoping to prove that effort and dedication could make a genius out of anyone.

But today, he met a true genius—one who shattered his beliefs in an instant.

Guy, too, was stunned. He had trained in the Eight Inner Gates under his father for years. From the First Gate to the Fifth, it had taken him nearly five years.

And yet, this child before him had unlocked the Fifth Gate in just over a week.

It was unbelievable.

A terrifying talent.

Might Guy had originally considered inviting this young ninja to train with him and Xiao Li. But after hearing about this absurdly fast progress, he hesitated.

Could he even guide such a student?

"What an incredible physical talent! Young man, I have high hopes for you!" Guy declared, placing a firm hand on Morkel's shoulder.

Afterward, he turned to Xiao Li with a determined expression. "Li! It seems we have to train even harder!"

"Yes, Sensei!" Xiao Li responded loudly, his spirit reigniting despite the overwhelming shock.

"Burn! Youth!!" Guy shouted, striking a dynamic pose.

And with that, the energetic master and student ran off, resuming their rigorous training.

As the ninja midterm exams approached, Morkel continued his physical training relentlessly.

Since his encounter with Guy and Xiao Li, he had refined his control over the Eight Inner Gates, barely managing to open the Sixth Gate. However, he understood that physical conditioning required patience. Rushing ahead could cause permanent damage to his body.

So, he took it slow, making steady progress each day.

Meanwhile, Naruto's performance had improved significantly under Morkel's guidance. In just a few weeks, his academic scores had stabilized above the passing threshold, and he had made substantial progress in basic ninjutsu.

In the courtyard, Morkel trained while keeping an eye on Naruto, who was practicing his ninjutsu.

"Come on, Naruto! We'll graduate from the Academy and become real ninjas together!" Morkel encouraged.

Naruto groaned, exhausted. "Morkel, I think what you've been teaching me is way beyond the passing standard... I seriously doubt the final exam requires me to make 200 Shadow Clones."

Morkel shook his head. "You can't slack off! Everyone is training hard."

"I saw Sasuke training alone the other day. He was already using Fire Style! If we don't push ourselves, we'll be left behind!"

"Wait, what?! Fire Style isn't even taught in the Academy!" Naruto exclaimed.

"Exactly. He must have figured it out on his own," Morkel affirmed.

Then, he smirked. "But if you want, I can teach you."

Naruto's eyes widened. "Really?!"

"Yeah. I saw Sasuke practicing and tried it at home. After a bit of experimenting, I figured out over 200 Fire Style techniques. One of them should suit you."

Naruto, now accustomed to Morkel's ridiculous talent, didn't even question it. Instead, he clenched his fists in determination.

"Alright! Teach me! I can't let Sasuke steal Sakura's attention!"

Morkel chuckled. "Fine, but only after today's training."

Even though he agreed, Morkel never quite understood Naruto's obsession with Sakura. She wasn't particularly outstanding, had a temper, and frequently scolded Naruto.

He chalked it up to the complexities of love and left it at that.

Hokage's Office

Due to Morkel's exceptional progress, Iruka had become a frequent visitor to the Hokage's office.

Today was no different.

"Hokage-sama," Iruka reported, "ever since Morkel and Naruto started living together, Naruto's grades have skyrocketed!"

"He is now well above the passing threshold for the final exams!"

The Third Hokage's eyes lit up with satisfaction. "Ah, it seems Morkel has been a great influence on him!"

"That boy never ceases to amaze me. Not only does he possess an extraordinary ability to comprehend complex ninjutsu, but he also has the heart to guide others."

Iruka sighed, smiling wryly. "Morkel might be a better teacher than me. I've tried for years to help Naruto, yet he improved more under Morkel's guidance in just a few weeks."

The Hokage chuckled. "Iruka, don't sell yourself short. You're an excellent teacher. Morkel is simply beyond the realm of an ordinary ninja. It would be unfair to compare yourself to him."

A pause.

Then, the Hokage's expression grew serious. "In fact, if we must compare, at this rate... Morkel may soon surpass even me."

Iruka hesitated. "Hokage-sama, Morkel will graduate soon. Have you decided who will guide him as a Jonin?"

The Third Hokage sighed, rubbing his temples. "I have been thinking about it for days."

"But Morkel's talent is far too exceptional. Very few people in Konoha can teach him. We must choose his mentor carefully."

At the Hokage's Office Entrance

Sarutobi Konohamaru, the Hokage's grandson, had been eavesdropping from behind the door.

Upon hearing his grandfather say, "Morkel may soon surpass me," his eyes sparkled with excitement.

Konohamaru had one goal—to surpass his grandfather and become the next Hokage.

And if his grandfather held Morkel in such high regard, then surely, learning from Morkel would help him achieve that dream!

Determined, Konohamaru rushed off to find Morkel.

Three Days Until the Final Exam

Morkel, as always, prepared meticulously for the upcoming test.

He practiced every required ninjutsu to perfection, leaving no room for error.

Of course, even dedicated students need to eat. Living with Naruto had meant eating instant ramen almost daily.

While Ichiraku Ramen was delicious, after nearly two weeks of non-stop ramen, Morkel felt like he was turning into a noodle himself.

He decided it was time for a proper meal.

Today, he would go grocery shopping and cook something nutritious.

As he strolled through the village, he suddenly sensed something—someone was following him.

A sneaky, shadowy figure lurked just a few feet behind.

Morkel smirked. "So, who's spying on me now?"
