Konata Doesn't Want To Be The Female Lead

Chapter 35: Chapter 34 – I Think I Need a Cooling Suit

"Mr. Aizawa…?"

Turning her head to look at Aizawa Shouta, who now seemed like a completely different person compared to his usual self, Konata couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions.

—Aizawa Shouta.

Hero name: Eraser Head.

His Quirk, Erasure, allows him to cancel out the Quirks of anyone within his line of sight. However, it deactivates the moment he blinks. It only works against transformation- and mutation-type Quirks, and is ineffective against emitter- or heteromorphic-type Quirks.

In battle, he wears goggles that conceal his eyes to keep enemies from knowing when he's activating his Quirk. He combines this with masterful close-combat skills and his capture weapon—a long, scarf-like binding cloth—to immobilize and subdue enemies.

That said, Eraser Head isn't built for long-lasting fights against large groups. He specializes in surprise attacks and lightning-fast blitzes. A one-hit assassin-type. But now there were hundreds of enemies—this was a numbers game. Honestly, compared to him, Thirteen and her Black Hole Quirk were the better fit for this situation.

"Get behind me!"

With a flick of his capture cloth, Aizawa set Konata down and locked his gaze on the eerily calm villain lounging at the back of the mob.

"Eraser Head, huh…"

Scratching his neck absently, the villain glanced upward.

"Trying to buy time for the kids to escape? Or coming to rescue this brat? Either way, it doesn't matter. As a hero, you've made the most fatal mistake."

"Crap!!"

Aizawa's face hardened. He quickly looked up and realized the violet-black mist that had teleported Konata earlier was now spreading across the upper levels.

"If All Might isn't here yet, then let's start things off with a little appetizer. A Quirk that erases other Quirks? Eh… not as impressive as I thought."

With a lazy wave, the villain plopped down on the stairs.

"What are you all waiting for? Go. Heroes don't deserve courtesy. I don't care if it's Eraser Head—our numbers are a hundred to one. You extras better make yourselves useful."

"RAAAHH!!"

Fueled by bloodlust, the mob swarmed toward Aizawa.

Frowning slightly, Aizawa readied his scarf.

Fighting off this many enemies by himself was already a monumental task. On top of that, he also had to—

"Railgun!!"

A dazzling streak of lightning surged past Aizawa, crashing into the front lines with explosive force. Even the guy who had hardened his entire body into steel was blown back, electrocuted into unconsciousness, his allies crumpling behind him like dominos.

"You don't have to worry about me, Mr. Aizawa. I can handle myself."

Seeing him glance her way, Konata casually hid her scorched right hand behind her back, feigning nonchalance.

It was only during real combat that Konata realized just how inconvenient skill-based Quirks could be. A single second of delay could decide everything. Her Railgun needed twelve whole seconds to charge up again—twelve! If it weren't for that awful cooldown, she was confident she could clear this battlefield solo, provided her hands could survive the recoil.

Right now, the tips of her fingers were already charred black.

"How long until you can fire that again?" Aizawa asked, neutralizing a leaping villain mid-air and slamming them into the ground with his cloth.

"Twelve seconds… Tch, this is gonna be endless!!"

Holding her left hand out horizontally, Konata conjured a glowing Spear of Lightning crackling with blue-white energy. With a forceful sweep, she slashed behind her.

A field of electricity burst out, silencing the Quirks of everyone within ten meters for 1.5 seconds. For those who thought they were immune to electric attacks? Surprise. Now they were well-done on both sides.

"Still love this Lightning Spear—area-of-effect stun plus silence for 1.5 seconds. Only downside is the damn cooldown…"

The spear vanished from her hand the moment it struck. She'd have to wait 8 seconds before she could use it again.

Muttering under her breath, Konata acted without pause—her Iron Sand Storm skill detonated in the middle of the densest enemy cluster.

From behind the fingers covering his face, the villain's visible eye glimmered with interest.

"Huh… Her Quirk actually suppresses other Quirks? Just like Eraser Head?"

It was clear Eraser Head was preoccupied up front. That means this Quirk-erasing effect must have come from the girl herself. Fascinating.

Just then, a portal of swirling black mist formed beside the villain. Out stepped a figure cloaked entirely in purple fog.

"Is Thirteen dealt with?" the villain asked without looking.

"She's incapacitated. The students were teleported away… except one. One escaped."

The misty figure's voice trembled slightly with guilt. The villain's expression darkened.

"Do you understand what you're saying?"

"I deeply apologize… Shigaraki Tomura."

"…You ruined my mood. If your Quirk weren't useful, I'd crush you right here."

Scratching his neck aggressively, Shigaraki's voice twisted with frustration. The mist stayed silent—he was used to this sort of reaction by now.

A few tense seconds passed. Then, Shigaraki's irritation seemed to cool.

"We can't win against dozens of pro heroes. This was always temporary."

He sighed lightly.

"Whatever. Game over. Grab the girl Sensei wants and let's go. But since we brought Nomu out to play…"

He patted the massive, hulking figure beside him.

"Go. Kill Eraser Head. And get those others hiding in the water. Bring me that girl—if she resists, break her arms and legs. Just don't kill her."

The misty figure hesitated as if wanting to object… but said nothing.

After all, it was true. That girl's Quirk was strange, dangerous—and far too valuable.
