Chapter 13: Chapter 13 : Sirius
"A good opportunity." After thinking for a moment, Anduin felt he couldn't just sit there and wait for death. He hadn't expected the two to leave so easily after finishing their fight. Hoping the others wouldn't notice him was nothing more than wishful thinking.
Anduin seized the moment, stood up, and raised his wand. An Impedimenta shot toward the man like an invisible cannonball. After casting the spell, Anduin ducked and bolted forward, heading directly toward the man behind them.
Avery and Snape had finally managed to track down Sirius Black that day, following him all the way to Knockturn Alley. Just as Avery was preparing to gather magical power and unleash a powerful curse to bring Sirius down in one blow, he suddenly sensed a spell coming from behind.
Avery flinched. He abandoned the curse he'd been charging, quickly spun around, and desperately cast a Shield Charm to block the incoming attack. Then, as a reflex, he fired a curse back. However, his eyes followed the spell as it flew — and he couldn't see where the enemy was. After carefully scanning the area, he looked down and saw a short figure already crouching and rushing toward him.
Anduin bent low and charged at Avery. Pushing off with his left foot, he swung his right leg horizontally in a powerful arc, aiming a whip kick at Avery's right hand — the one holding his wand.
The kick struck clean. Avery's right wrist stung, and his wand flew from his hand. Shocked, Avery quickly tried to retreat, aiming to get closer to Snape.
His reaction wasn't slow, but his opponent was faster. Before he could take two steps back, Anduin pressed the advantage. After sweeping Avery's wand away, he pivoted, shifted his weight onto his right foot, and delivered a spinning back kick with his left leg, landing squarely on Avery's lower abdomen.
"Oof." Avery nearly threw up his dinner from the pain. His body curled forward instinctively.
Anduin's combo wasn't over. After the kick, he straightened up and stepped forward hard with his left foot. He grabbed Avery's head with both hands and drove a knee upward with force, striking Avery's face directly.
Bang.
Avery took the full impact of the knee to his face. Blood splattered in every direction as he flew backward, instantly losing consciousness the moment he hit the ground.
Anduin's flurry of attacks had lasted only a few seconds. As soon as he dealt with Avery, he raised his hand and launched a compressed Impedimenta straight at Snape ahead of him.
Snape, who was still exchanging spells with Sirius, also reacted at that moment. Yet even in this emergency, he calmly swept aside a curse from Sirius and counterattacked with precision.
"Sectumsempra."
With a swoosh, a spell burst from Snape's wand.
The two spells collided midair. Anduin's Impedimenta was sliced clean in two by Snape's spell — like cutting through a melon — and the Sectumsempra kept flying toward Anduin with undiminished power.
Anduin was stunned. "Such a powerful spell?"
He poured all his energy into casting another Impedimenta, forming a shield in front of him. But even this shield couldn't fully block the Sectumsempra. All he could do was watch as it was slowly slashed apart right before his eyes.
Realizing how bad things had gotten, Anduin was just about to roll out of the way — when a sudden flash of light surrounded his body. Another shield appeared, absorbing the attack on his behalf. A silver-white doe shimmered on the surface of the shield.
Snape saw that his spell had failed. Then he saw the magical shield shaped like a doe in front of Anduin. His eyes flickered. He didn't press the attack. Instead, he casually fired a spell at Sirius, bent down to grab Avery, and Disapparated.
Anduin exhaled deeply and roughly. That was terrifying. 'Was this the kind of magic adults used?'. If that mysterious shield hadn't suddenly appeared, he would've been done for.
Anduin thought for a moment, then pulled a copper coin from the inside pocket of his coat. It was the protective charm Lily Potter had given him. He noticed the shine on the coin had faded significantly.
'So it was this charm Lily gave me that saved me'. He hadn't expected the so-called protective charm to actually protect him.
While Anduin was still deep in thought, Sirius — from the far end of the alley — saw that the danger had passed and quickly approached, eager to see who had saved him.
When Anduin saw someone approaching again, he quickly raised his wand in alert, its tip pointed toward the figure.
"Hey, little wizard, don't be nervous. I'm not a Death Eater. Was it you who scared off Snape and Avery, those two Death Eaters?" Sirius walked closer and saw that the one standing there was actually an underage wizard.
"I don't have that kind of skill. I just took advantage of their carelessness to ambush one of them," Anduin said, still a bit wary of the man in front of him.
"Ha, I'm Sirius Black. You can just call me Sirius. I've got to say — your moves were impressive. I saw the whole thing. You took that guy down with just a few punches and kicks," Sirius said, laughing.
"Just luck. In the end, I was nearly killed by the one you called Snape. Are you an Auror? Or part of the Order of the Phoenix?" Anduin asked cautiously, eyeing him.
"You even know about the Order of the Phoenix?" Sirius looked at him, surprised. "Yeah, I'm a member. It's almost an open secret at this point."
"I see. What a coincidence. I'm Anduin Wilson," Anduin said with a smile, finally starting to relax.
"Nice to meet you. That defensive spell you used just now was really impressive. Doesn't seem like something a little wizard could cast," Sirius said with a grin.
"That was the protective charm Lily gave me. I don't have the skill to cast such a powerful spell," Anduin replied with a relieved sigh.
"Lily? Do you mean Lily Potter? You know Lily Potter?" Sirius looked at the boy and realized he knew his dear friend, which sparked his curiosity.
"Yeah. I met her when I came to buy my school supplies earlier. Her partner, Mr. James, was with her too. She gave me this incredibly valuable protective charm the very first time we met. I don't even know how to thank her," Anduin recalled the moment he'd met Lily. He hadn't expected her to give him such a gift so casually.
"Haha, Lily's a really kind person. My wife and I were in the same year at Hogwarts as them. They're my most trusted friends," Sirius said, smiling warmly.
"Since you know them too, then we're friends from now on. I'll just call you Anduin. And did you just say you're about to start school? You mean . . . you're a first-year who hasn't even enrolled yet?" Sirius looked shocked. A brand-new wizard who hadn't even started school managing to defeat a Death Eater on his own? He hadn't expected that. Judging by Anduin's build, he thought he must've been a third or fourth-year student.
While Anduin and Sirius were talking, several people suddenly Apparated beside them
