Chapter 108: Chapter 106
In the bustling DEO command center, Haruka, donned in his Kamen Rider The First armor, and Kara, wearing her iconic Supergirl costume, stood side by side, their eyes fixed on the large screen displaying Superboy's intense battle with Reactron.
"Who is this guy?" Haruka muttered, his metallic green armor reflecting the flickering images. "He just appeared out of thin air and took down that villain like it was nothing."
Kara's blonde hair swayed slightly as she shook her head, her expression a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty. "I have no clue. I've never seen him before. He must also be another Kryptonian, like me. I thought me and Superman are the only Kryptonians left."
The footage continued to play, capturing Superboy's raw display of strength, speed, and flight as he grappled with the formidable Reactron. Each movement was a testament to the young hero's potential.
"Friend or foe?" Haruka asked, turning to look at Kara, his compound insectoid eyes glowing with a hint of concern.
Kara bit her lip, weighing the possibilities. "I'm not sure. He saved Lena Luthor, which counts for something. But with the Luthor family's history, we can't be too careful."
Director Cameron Chase strode into the command center, her sharp features betraying a sense of professional tension. "Any new information on this Superboy?" she demanded, her gaze sweeping across the assembled agents.
The agents exchanged glances and shook their heads. "Negative, Director. He vanished immediately after the confrontation with Reactron."
"And Reactron? What happened to him?" Kara interjected, her voice tinged with a mix of professional concern and personal curiosity.
Chase's lips pressed into a thin line. "Lena Luthor has taken him into custody. We attempted to intervene, but she presented arguments we couldn't effectively challenge."
Haruka and Kara exchanged a meaningful look. The fact that Lena Luthor had managed to keep Reactron out of the DEO's grasp was more than a little unsettling.
"What could her intentions be?" Haruka asked, his voice calm but his posture betraying an underlying tension.
"Unknown," Chase replied, her tone sharp. "And that's precisely what concerns me. The Luthor family has a long history of complicating our operations."
Before further discussion could unfold, a DEO agent burst into the room, urgency etched across his face. "Director! We have an emergency. The National Bridge is collapsing, and civilians are trapped inside!"
Chase's expression hardened. "Mobilize all units. Search and rescue teams, deploy immediately!"
Kara turned to Haruka, her blue eyes blazing with determination. "Looks like we've got work to do. Ready?"
Without hesitation, the two heroes sprang into action, their movements synchronized and purposeful.
Haruka and Kara arrive at the National Bridge and begin to collapse; Haruka and Kara survey the catastrophic scene before them. Steel beams groaned and twisted, concrete cracked like spiderwebs, and entire sections of roadway began to buckle and separate. Panicked drivers slammed on their brakes, some vehicles teetering precariously on the edge of disintegrating sections.
"Supergirl, stabilize the bridge structure," Haruka shouted to Kara. "I'll focus on evacuating the people!"
Kara nodded, her cape whipping behind her as she flew toward the most vulnerable areas. Haruka transformed into Kamen Rider Faiz, his sleek armor gleaming in the chaotic sunlight.
Haruka deployed his Candroids, sending the small robotic scouts to identify trapped individuals. He leaped between crumbling sections, pulling terrified drivers from their vehicles. A woman clutching a baby screamed as her car tilted dangerously. Haruka reached her just as the section began to collapse, scooping them both to safety.
Nearby, Kara used her superhuman strength to hold together massive steel arches, preventing them from crushing the fleeing civilians. Her muscles strained as she pushed against the immense weight, sweat beading on her forehead from the effort.
A school bus filled with children teetered on a breaking section. The driver, pale and trembling, couldn't move. Haruka sprinted, his Rider abilities allowing him to leap impossibly high. He reached the bus, yanking open the door and helping the children escape. The youngest ones cried, clinging to each other as Haruka guided them to safety.
"It's okay, come on kids. Let's move out in a single file line."
Kara continued her aerial rescue, creating human chains to move people from dangerous sections to stable ground. Her heat vision cut through twisted metal, creating escape routes for trapped motorists.
The bridge continued to disintegrate, sections falling into the churning water below. Dust billowed, creating a chaotic scene of destruction and desperate rescue efforts.
Haruka saw a car teetering precariously on the edge of the collapsing bridge, a family of three trapped inside. Without hesitation, he sprinted toward the vehicle, his enhanced speed allowing him to cover the distance in a heartbeat. As the car began to tip over, Haruka reached out and grabbed the rear bumper, straining to pull it back to safety.
The metal groaned and cracked under the immense weight, and suddenly the bumper broke free from the car's frame. Haruka's eyes widened as the vehicle started plummeting toward the churning water below. Reacting instinctively, he leaped forward, extending his arms in a desperate attempt to catch the car before it hit the surface.
Haruka thought that the family's car will plummet into the churning waters below. Suddenly, a blur of motion caught his eye.
Superboy appeared, his muscular frame moving with impossible grace. He reached out and grabbed the vehicle, muscles straining as he carefully maneuvered it back to safety. The car's occupants stared in wide-eyed wonder, their terror slowly melting into relief.
"Is everyone okay?" Superboy asked, his voice a calm reassurance amidst the chaos.
The family nodded, too shocked to speak. Superboy helped them out of the car, guiding them to solid ground.
Haruka approached the young hero, suspicion flickering in his eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help," Superboy responded, his posture relaxed yet ready for action.
Above them, Supergirl fought against the bridge's collapse. Her muscles bulged, arms extended as she struggled to hold the massive structure together. Superboy flew up, joining her in the herculean effort.
"Hi," he said innocently.
"Hi..." Kara smiled, a hint of awkwardness in her voice.
Haruka's communication device crackled to life. Director Chase's stern voice cut through the ambient noise. "Report. What's the situation?"
"Not good," Haruka replied, scanning the deteriorating bridge. "Supergirl and Superboy are holding the structure, but it's barely staying together. We're looking at a complete collapse if something doesn't change quickly."
"Kamen Rider, the bridge's structural integrity is failing at the primary support points. You need to reinforce those sections immediately. Have Supergirl and Superboy focus their efforts there."
Haruka relayed the instructions. "Supergirl, Superboy, concentrate on reinforcing the main support beams."
The two Kryptonians exchanged a determined nod. Their heat vision blazed, welding metal plates to the weakened support structure. Slowly, the bridge's violent trembling subsided.
Watching intently, Haruka felt a collective sigh of relief ripple through the rescued civilians. Supergirl and Superboy landed beside him, their capes dancing in the wind.
"The bridge is secure," Kara announced, triumph coloring her voice.
Conner nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Couldn't have done it without you."
Haruka regarded the two heroes with newfound respect. "Thanks for the assist. Glad we prevented a disaster."
Distant sirens heralded the arrival of emergency services. "Looks like the professionals can take it from here," Haruka said. "We should get going."
With a final glance at the now-stable bridge, the Kryptonian heroes took to the sky. Haruka mounted his ride, leaving the scene behind—another crisis averted, another day in the life of a hero.
Haruka, Kara, and Superboy touched down on a rooftop, the wind whipping their capes. Superboy turned to the other two heroes, a wide grin on his face.
"I can't believe I'm finally meeting you both!" he exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement. "I've heard so much about Supergirl and Kamen Rider. It's an honor to fight alongside you."
Kara smiled, some of her earlier wariness melting away. "It's nice to meet you too. I have to admit, I was a little surprised to see another Kryptonian out there."
Haruka crossed his arms, his metallic armor gleaming. "You've certainly made an impression. We'd like to know more about you, Superboy."
