Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1387: The Shroud of Dreams: alf layla wa layla

...Wait, why did Zhen Liu's construct explode?...

'...'

<Well? What do you think?>

Zhen Liu was dead silent as he watched the Gallop Brothers pop into existence, partially because of how anachronistic they were and partially because he was trying to figure out how the hell these guys managed to take on these forms without breaking down the Voyager-1 Probe.

However, the moment they began to pose, declare their names, and their loyalties Zhen Liu couldn't help but turn bright red.

The child-like joy of having his own tokusatsu team, was counterbalanced by the sheer embarrassment of being directly called out in such a manner.

Then again, all that really mattered in this world and any other were results. Embarrassment be damned if one managed to achieve victory, after all.

=Now with that out of the way, I think it's time for you to get back into the fight while manifesting your [Astra] and [Taboo]. I think they'll be able to resolve your [Key to Nowhere] issue as well.=

'Yeah...wait, I already made those?! When and how??'

<We'll share the footage later, but for now...SMOKE BOMB!>

'Say what?'

...Ah, secondhand embarrassment and inner revelations lead to explosions...

'Ah, smoke bomb.'

The moment Zhen Liu's garage-shaped construct exploded into a cloud of multicolored smoke, everyone's attention was drawn to it and the trio of Kaijin that were using the smoke as a backdrop. As such, Zhen Liu was able to sneak away in order to find a better position to launch a surprise attack. That, and he needed a little space to determine what exactly his [Taboo] and [Astra] had become.

Regardless of Zhen Liu's activities though, most of the people present, those who were members of the last rebellion, couldn't help but to keep their eyes locked on to the backs of the Gallop Brothers.

After all, they couldn't help but be reminded of a certain trio of warriors who had led the rebels the first time around.

^No way...^

^It can't be...^

^But it feels just like them."

Now many of the shocked rebels who were making such comments were people who only had a tangential relationship with the Gallum Brothers, the people that they were referring to, and could only speculate until they were given some form of hard proof.

On the other hand, the ones who knew the Gallum Brother in life, would definitely recognize them in death as well.

Mostly.

Off to the side, Lyona was still unconscious but Taurna and Maggie were still wide awake and able to look over the Gallop Brothers with critical eyes and notice just how similar they felt to the Gallum Brothers.

Taurna, in particular, couldn't help but to verbalize as such.

^Okay, I remembered being told by the Kaijin that their creator was able to pull off some crazy ass miracles, but this basically resurrection, right? Er, wait, reincarnation? This is something only Aether Demigods at minimum should be able to pull off, right? Right?! Maggie?^

Maggie was overwhelmed with shock and awe as she stared at the back of the Gallop Brothers, therefore, she wasn't able to answer Taurna's inquiry at the moment.

^Is...is it really you, my love?^

With her eyes focused on Depth Strider's back, Maggie remembered the man who was her first and only love...and remembered how he died in order to protect her.

And now, after all this time, he was back again. Albeit, in a very different form.

Knowing full well that now wasn't the time to indulge in her emotions, though, Maggie kept back so that the Gallop Brothers could fight without fear of interference or hostages.

That stated, the [Demon Knights] were more than ready to make this fight one with a heavy collateral cost.

[Gallop Brothers?] Gumba repeated as the name tickled something in the back of his three brain cells. [Why does that name sound familiar to—]

[Bah! Who cares?!] Obsidious screeched as he began to charge up [Chaos,] for an attack that took the form of a giant black fireball.

[Let's just burn them into cinders and piss on their remains already!,]

[Agreed!]

[Ditto!]

Following his lead, Slavina and Delictum prepared to attack as well. As for Oizys and Gumba, though, they were unable to contribute.

The latter because he was too slow, the former because he was waiting for—

[Oh no, you fucking don't!]

[There it is!]

Nepherage had eventually stopped fighting off the lesser enemy kaijin long enough to notice that three out of five of the [Demon Knights] had their backs turned for long enough that a surprise attack on her end would've been devastating.

Unfortunately for her, Oizys knew this as well, so the tar-bodied kaijin figured he would play defense. To be more precise, he was looking for the right opportunity to engage with the kaijin that made their skin boil and bubble.

[I don't know why, but everything about you makes my instincts go berserk,] Oizys commented as he pushed back against Nepherage's attack. [I get the feeling I won't be able to sleep properly until you're dead.]

[Funny. I was thinking the same thing!]

While this happening, though, the [Demon Knights] were given enough time to unleash their attacks.

[Baleful Barrage!]

[Thorns of Domination!]

[Gust of Delirium!]

A rain of fire balls, a hail of wicked thorns, and an ominous wind, combined together to form an unrelenting wave of [Chaos] and aether that threatened to hammer not just the Gallop Brothers, but everyone around them as well.

^Oh gods, not again!^

"Either just kill us or don't, enough of this back and forth, please!"

<<AAAAAHHHH!>>

At this point, the rebels were exhausted by all of these near death moments and just wanted a definitive moment of their lives being spared or destroyed.

Thankfully, it was going to be the former.

[Oh boy, that looks a pretty intense attack,] RailHorn commented. [We should probably coordinate our own moves to bring it down.]

[Agreed,] Pegasoar nodded. [What are you two thinking? We try to recreate something we used to do when we were younger or try to do something new?]

[Neither,] DepthStrider informed his brothers. [We're going to let the chief take the lead, this time.]

[Oh?]

Shortly after this statement, Zhen Liu appeared like a ghost right in the middle of the air and in the path of the incoming attacks.

At this moment in time, he was dressed in his [Stigma], and looked every bit like the fully armored demon lord that had been fighting Dante this entire time. However, there was a noticeably strange addition to his form: a long flowing silk cape that seemed to be illusionary and decorated with geometric patterns that was in a style that reminded people of a mix of Dozing Salamander sensibilities with southern Stampeding Bison decorative elements.

In Zhen Liu's head, he was reminded of the Arabian Nights asthethic!

Of course, he didn't have time to muse upon such things, he had a situation to reverse.

[Envelop, Alf Laya Wa Layla!]

Grabbing his cape off of his shoulders, Zhen Liu swung it around and made the fabric expand to such a size that it was able to act like a net and capture all three of the attacks at the exact same time.

[What the hell?!]

[Impossible!]

As the attacks made contact with Zhen Liu's [Taboo], the energy that composed them began to unravel and reweave themselves into distinct patterns that seamlessly blended into the tapestry.

However, these patterns weren't there for long.

[Alf Layla Wa Layla: Archer of the Sun!]

As Zhen Liu kept spinning, the shroud in his hands suddenly condensed upon itself and formed into a massive bow. At the same time, three arrows that were clearly the attacks from before suddenly appeared and were caught by Zhen Liu's other hand.

Newly minted weapon in hand, Zhen Liu finished turning and fired back all three arrows at the [Demon Knights] who attacked.

In that brief moment, the shadow of an ancient archer, one who once fired a shooting star, overlapped with Zhen Liu's form.

...

Stigma Name: Alf Layla Wa Layla

Attribute: Chaos, Dreams

Description:

A true leader is someone who carries not only his desires, but the desires, burdens and dreams of his own subordinates and subjects. Embodying this ideal, Alf Layla Wa Layla takes the form of a huge cape decorated with stars and geometric shapes.

It's user is able to store various objects inside of it, as long as they were familiar with the object. As well, they can use the shroud as the ultimate shield, absorbing attacks as long as the wielder is familiar with the energy being levied against him.

As well, as long as the attacks remain inside of the shroud, the user is able to release them again as they please and even enhance the power behind them.

That is, as long as the user is willing to re-enact a story that would appropriately draw out the power of such attacks.

After all, a good story can make even the most mundane details incredibly memorable.
