Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Make a Friend
Gojo Satoru glanced at Gojo Kumayan. He was well aware of the two factions within the Gojo clan—the "Cursed Faction" and the "Elder Faction."
To him, both factions were essentially his supporters.
The only difference between them was that the Cursed Faction was hostile toward Gojo Kensei, believing that twins were inherently a curse.
Meanwhile, the Elder Faction simply followed the clan leader's will. They neither opposed nor paid much attention to Gojo Kensei, treating him with indifference instead.
However, after the Zanpakuto Incident a week ago, many within the Elder Faction had come to understand the clan leader's true thoughts, and their attitude toward Gojo Kensei began to change.
During this period, they also learned that the forging house had exploded four times. Each time, they expected the clan leader to harshly punish Gojo Kensei.
Yet, the clan leader always brushed the incidents off with a few words and immediately ordered the forge to be repaired. This made them realize just how much importance Gojo Kensei held in the clan leader's heart.
Moreover, even Gojo Shunichi, a key figure of the Cursed Faction, had begun personally teaching Gojo Kensei swordsmanship. This revelation completely overturned the expectations of many within the Elder Faction.
So, by the time the gathering arrived, many members of the Elder Faction had already recognized that Gojo Kensei was not ordinary.
"If both Gojo Satoru and Gojo Kensei truly have extraordinary talent, then the future of the Gojo clan will be secure."
This was the prevailing thought among the Elder Faction present.
However, they had little say in this gathering. All they could do was watch as Gojo Kumayan prepared to preside over the meeting of the jujutsu families.
Gojo Kensei, who had been lost in thought, was brought back to reality by Gojo Kumayan's deep, bear-like voice.
As he noticed the attention of the entire hall focused on himself and Gojo Satoru, he knew that the gathering was about to officially begin.
Holding onto his sword, Shirayuki, he took a step back, allowing Gojo Satoru to take center stage.
After all, this gathering was all about Gojo Satoru. As for himself, the so-called "Fake Six Eyes," he was often just an afterthought.
Through Gojo Kumayan's introductions, Gojo Satoru learned the names of the three people Gojo Kensei had been watching.
"Ieiri Shoko."
"Okkotsu Yujin."
"Zenin Toji."
Gojo Satoru wasn't too familiar with Ieiri and Okkotsu, but he had heard of the Zenin clan, which was considered the Gojo clan's equal in prestige.
The cursed energy radiating from Ieiri Shoko and Okkotsu Yujin allowed him to clearly sense their potential.
It wasn't surprising that Gojo Kensei had taken an interest in them.
But why was he interested in Zenin Toji?
From what Gojo Satoru could see, Zenin Toji was just an ordinary person.
There wasn't even a trace of cursed energy emanating from him!
"This is strange… What did Kensei mean by what he said earlier? Why would he want to be friends with Zenin Toji?"
…
Just as Gojo Kensei had predicted, Gojo Kumayan gave an elaborate introduction for Gojo Satoru, while he himself was mentioned only briefly.
However, this didn't bother Gojo Kensei at all.
His main purpose in attending this gathering was to meet Zenin Toji—meeting Ieiri Shoko and Okkotsu Yujin was just a bonus.
So, once the gathering allowed for free interaction, he immediately sought out Zenin Toji.
"Toji!"
Zenin Toji was slightly taken aback by the direct call of his name.
"The Six Eyes brat from the Gojo clan?"
He hadn't expected Gojo Kensei to address him so casually. But seeing the sword in Kensei's hands, he quickly recognized who he was dealing with.
"You actually know my name? Gojo Kensei, right? What do you want?"
Toji raised an eyebrow and looked at Kensei.
Meanwhile, other members of the Zenin clan had gathered around them. Unlike Toji, they lacked his sharp senses and had not recognized Gojo Kensei.
Seeing Kensei approach, they mistakenly assumed he was Gojo Satoru.
"Young Master Gojo, I advise you not to associate with this man! He is a bearer of the Heavenly Restriction—a failure who has no cursed energy and is unworthy of your attention."
Zenin Shinsuke suddenly interjected, cutting into the conversation between Kensei and Toji.
Kensei frowned slightly at the interruption, curious about this person's identity.
Moreover, why wasn't Toji even bothering to refute the insult?
"Who are you, and why are you interrupting?"
Kensei didn't bother showing Zenin Shinsuke any respect. To him, the only person in the Zenin clan worth his attention was Zenin Toji. The others were irrelevant.
Zenin Shinsuke's expression stiffened.
As one of the most talented members of the younger generation in the Zenin clan, how could Gojo Satoru not recognize him?
Besides, Gojo Kumayan had just introduced him!
Why did this Six Eyes brat remember Zenin Toji but not him?
A hint of anger flashed across Zenin Shinsuke's face.
"Young Master Gojo, I am Zenin Shinsuke, the representative of the Zenin clan for this gathering."
Maintaining his composure out of clan etiquette, he reintroduced himself.
Hearing the name, Kensei searched his memory.
Hmm, he had never heard of this guy before.
In the original timeline, this person didn't even have a presence.
That meant he was either destined for mediocrity or an early grave.
"Zenin Shinsuke, is it? I really don't know you."
Kensei nodded dismissively before turning his attention back to Zenin Toji.
His time was valuable—he had no intention of wasting it on nobodies.
As he spoke, Kensei extended his small hand toward Zenin Toji.
"Zenin Toji, I think you're pretty interesting! Let's be friends."
Zenin Shinsuke's frustration boiled over at Kensei's blatant disregard.
Meanwhile, Toji was at a loss.
What was going on?
A six-year-old kid wanted to be his friend?
He rubbed his face in confusion.
Did he have some kind of hidden charm that attracted kids?
He wasn't as ugly as Shunichi, sure, but his usual demeanor should have been enough to keep people away.
This situation was completely beyond his expectations.
But to Gojo Kensei, forming a connection with Zenin Toji was a priority.
If they became friends now, it would open the door for deeper interactions later on.
Just as Toji was considering how to respond, Zenin Shinsuke—still seething at being ignored—interrupted once again, derailing Kensei's attempt at friendship.
