Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 244: CA [244]: Wielder

Restia departed with resolute determination, returning to Kamito's side. Her mission was to ensure his safety, intercepting her former allies to prevent any trouble.

Watching her burdened figure, Altair nearly burst out laughing. The dark spirit was thoroughly intimidated, even willing to sacrifice herself for Kamito's sake. Remarkable.

"Altair, do you want that dark spirit?" Est asked, tugging his hand and whispering, noting the smile on his face.

"Est, why ask that?" Altair glanced down, amused. My dear, I was just manipulating her, did you fall for it too?

"Because you touched her face."

"Oh… that's the reason?" Altair was taken aback. Not his agreement with Restia, but the fact he touched her face?

"You've only touched Est's and Rinslet's faces. No one else's."

Really? That was her concern?

True, Altair only showed affection to those he cherished, keeping others at arm's length. He might be friendly with those he liked, like Mordred from the Holy Grail world, but maintained distance. For those he didn't care about, he simply ignored them.

Though their contract was new, Est was surprisingly insightful.

Should he admit he touched Restia because she was another man's partner, making it a cheeky thrill? That'd make me sound like a rogue, he thought, though I suppose I am one.

"It was just to trick her, to make her think I'm a villain." He explained.

"Don't you want to contract with her?" Est pressed.

"Not at all! I'm a loyal dual-wielder, you're my only contracted spirit!" Altair replied with conviction.

"Est believes Altair." She said, satisfied.

Perfect, his wife trusted him!

"Let's go see what Rinslet's up to." Holding Est's hand, Altair followed Rinslet's path.

"Ren Ashbell seeks teammates! Requirements: High-ranking elementalists with superior combat skills!"

The news spread swiftly through Areishia Academy. Rinslet and Carol distributed a single batch of flyers, reaching a few key students. With the academy's gossip network, the entire school soon knew.

This generation had enrolled idolizing Ren Ashbell, the beautiful and formidable Blade Dancer. Even Rinslet had once revered her, but after contracting with Altair and discovering Ashbell's true identity, her admiration turned to ambition, she wanted to defeat her. A cross-dressing man was too much to handle otherwise.

Altair and Est trailed Rinslet and Carol, ensuring their safety.

The announcement of Ren Ashbell recruiting teammates caused a frenzy. Headmistress Greyworth sighed. She'd planned to hide Kamito's identity, but Rinslet's use of Ashbell's fame blindsided her. Altair's presence was unforeseen. A former top Blade Dancer with connections and enduring strength, Greyworth knew she was no match for him, his power was overwhelming.

Her original strategies were scrapped, forcing her to improvise.

Restia's return to Kamito, restoring his strength, stunned her. She was certain the black dragon spirit was behind it.

But what could she do? Stop them?

With Kamito's power restored, Altair's unfathomable strength, and now recruiting elite elementalists, their team was unstoppable. How could others compete?

She sighed, wishing the other students well.

A day was enough for the recruitment news to spread. Rinslet scheduled interviews for the next morning at the coliseum.

At dawn, Rinslet rose, prepared breakfast for Altair, Est, and Carol, and headed to the sealed coliseum, approved for her use after the prior spirit incident.

Claire and Kamito were summoned as teammates to assess the recruits. Restia stayed close, unwilling to stray far from Kamito lest trouble arise.

"Why are you here, Rinslet?!" demanded Ellis, her blue hair tied high, leader of the Sylphid Knights Radiant, tasked with maintaining academy order, and a devoted Ren Ashbell fan. Expecting her idol, she found Rinslet, once a troublemaker, now a fortunate prodigy.

"Why can't I be here, Knight Commander?" Rinslet crossed her arms, chin raised defiantly.

"This is Ren Ashbell's recruitment. Are you saying you want to join her team? I thought you'd already formed one."

"I have a team, true, but that doesn't bar me from being here. Why are you here, Knight Commander? Hoping to join Ren Ashbell's team?"

"Exactly!" Ellis declared. "I'm here to invite Ren Ashbell to my team, or to lead my entire team to join hers!"

No shame in meeting her idol, most students were fans. Fighting alongside Ashbell was a dream.

"But would you disband your team to join hers?"

"Of course not." Rinslet smiled.

"Because Ren Ashbell is already on my team!"
