Invasion of the United States

Chapter 36 Rescue_3

Before the gunshot, Hari felt immense fear gripping her heart, thinking she was about to be silenced; after the gunshot, her legs gave way, and she helplessly fell to the ground.

After a dozen seconds, she barely regained her senses, trembling as she turned to look behind her—Zhou Qingfeng had already walked to the shadowy area and dragged a corpse out of the darkness.

"Did... did you kill him?" Hari's voice trembled, her face pale as paper.

"Good news, it's not the police or a reporter, just a thug following you."

Zhou Qingfeng said coldly, crouching down to search the corpse and pulling out a new phone, clearly stolen.

To avoid being tracked by the police through the phone number, he would either borrow someone else's phone or use a stolen one for a day before ditching it.

Surprisingly, this phone was unlocked, perfect for his use.

Hari barely stood up, staggered closer, glanced down at the corpse, and suddenly froze, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.

"It's Bobby... my friend. He just came to see me on a motorcycle, said he wanted to check on me..."

"I'm very sorry." Zhou Qingfeng said the words without any real remorse, his face as emotionless as if he had just stepped on an ant.

"No... no need to apologize." Hari shook her head, her voice somber, "I had already cut ties with him. Because... because he was in a gang, and tried to assault me not long ago."

"You said he rode a motorcycle?" Zhou Qingfeng pulled out a set of keys from the corpse, the "Harley" logo clearly printed on them.

"Probably parked near my place." Hari looked back in the direction they came, her expression slightly dazed.

Zhou Qingfeng ignored her mood, instead looking up at the pitch-black night sky with the sharp gaze of an eagle. "You're probably being followed by more than one person." Find the translation on MV&LEMPYR.

"What?" Hari's eyes widened in fear, "Who else is following me?"

"You're too careless, no awareness of being followed. A thug could easily track you, let alone a journalist's drone locking on to you from two or three hundred meters up."

Emotionally indifferent, Zhou Qingfeng's mind was solely on the 'mission', not caring about the drone's threat.

Hari followed his gaze to the sky, where sparse stars couldn't reveal anything.

But she felt an invisible pressure, as if a pair of cold eyes were watching her from above.

Her heart raced, her palms sweated, and she couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "What do we... do now?"

Zhou Qingfeng didn't answer directly but twirled the keys in his fingers, his eyes falling on Hari's long legs, "You're wearing stockings, right?"

"What?" Hari was stunned, clearly not expecting such a sudden question, feeling inexplicably shy, "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

"Take them off for me."

"Now... is it necessary?" Hari's cheeks blushed slightly, her voice hesitant, "It's not that I refuse, but do you think it's the right time?"

"I said take off the stockings." Zhou Qingfeng's voice suddenly intensified.

Intimidated by his presence, Hari bit her lip and finally yielded. She bent down, reached into her leather skirt, twisted her hips, and raised her leg to remove the stockings.

When she handed them to Zhou Qingfeng, her face still carried a trace of embarrassment and anger.

Minutes later, Zhou Qingfeng, wearing a gray trench coat and black stockings, mounted the Harley motorcycle. Amid the roar of the engine, he shot towards the city hall like an arrow.

The night wind howled, leaves swirled, his figure elongated under the streetlights, like a death knight emerging from the darkness, cold and resolute.

Meanwhile, as Hari was escorted back near her home, she stomped her foot in frustration, cursing under her breath, "Bastard! Only wanted stockings?

I didn't refuse, even offered a hug, and not a single thank you. What's so urgent? Delaying a few minutes wouldn't hurt!"
