Invasion of the United States

Chapter 36: Rescue_2

Screams, curses, and the sound of shattering glass intertwined, as if the entire city had fallen into a chaotic nightmare.

The police originally thought that after Zhou Qingfeng revealed his whereabouts, they would quickly capture him. However, reality caught them off guard.

Emergency calls flooded into the police station like a tide, and operators were so busy they barely had time to take a sip of water. From robberies to arson, from brawls to shootings, various incidents were endlessly emerging.

The police force was scattered across the city streets, exhausted and struggling to cope. The special police team initially assigned to capture Zhou Qingfeng had to be temporarily redirected to handle the street riots.

Zhou Qingfeng turned on the television in the villa's living room, where the news anchor was reporting the chaos in Orlando with a solemn tone.

"This fugitive, who has caused unrest throughout the city, must be held accountable for his actions!" The anchor's tone was severe, as if reading out a judgment,

"We urge him to surrender to the police as soon as possible, to end this farce and restore a peaceful living environment for the citizens of Orlando."

"Surrender?" Zhou Qingfeng sneered disdainfully, "Why not call for the governor to revoke the one million US Dollars bounty? It was clearly that money which completely triggered the greed and evil in people."

"Chaos, let there be chaos. Anyway, Judgment Day is coming soon, and everything in the United States will eventually be destroyed."

He glanced at his watch; it was already close to midnight. He planned to eat something casually and then rest for a while to recharge his energy.

Just then, the television screen flashed, and the news switched to a speech by Governor Ellison Parker.

He stated that he had noticed the video released by the fugitive Zhou Qingfeng and had received requests for assistance from the Orlando city government.

"First, I want to clarify that, according to expert assessments, the videos inciting violence were all synthesized using AI technology, with no evidence proving the fugitive is in Orlando.

Secondly, I have ordered the National Guard to enter Orlando to maintain order, and the chaos in the city will be immediately contained.

Finally, I hope that the 'Holy Light' president will surrender to the police immediately..."

Zhou Qingfeng scrutinized the television screen. He keenly noticed that Governor Parker's speech background was not from the state government office, but in front of an office building.

Yes, it was an outdoor press conference.

Sure enough, after Parker finished speaking, the Mayor of Orlando and the Police Chief appeared on stage, stating that 'with the Governor personally overseeing, the city's security will be immediately restored.'

"This guy is right in Orlando, and this speech is live, he's at the city government building."

Zhou Qingfeng quickly opened the computer in the villa and searched online for the location of the city government. Publication courtesy of M|V|LE-MPYR.

The results showed that the city government was less than three kilometers from the villa, just a ten-minute drive away.

If he acted quickly, the press conference would still be going on, and the target would be right in front of the building.

At that moment, it was as if some kind of program in his brain was activated, and seeing Ellison Parker made him extremely disgusted.

"This bastard is already so loathsome now. If he lives, who knows how many Chinese people will be sent to concentration camps by him..."

This was a memory etched deep in his consciousness, irresistible and undeniable.

He tried to convince himself to give up temporarily with the excuse that "his body had not fully fortified," but the pain in his brain was unbearable.

Some blurry images seemed to transcend time and space, constantly emerging—stern figures, somber advice, ruthless reprimands...

Fragments of memories of suffering in the concentration camps surged like a tide, making escape impossible.

"I want revenge, now," Zhou Qingfeng murmured to himself, as if responding to some unseen presence.

He stood up and headed toward the dining table.

On the table lay an "S&W revolver" and a "Glock 17," along with several limited magazines and ammunition boxes.

He skillfully equipped the firearms and holsters on himself, then went upstairs and retrieved a gray trench coat from the closet.

He initially wanted to find a stocking to conceal his face, but the closet clearly had no women's clothing, only a few hats.

He casually grabbed a baseball cap and put it on, lowering the brim slightly to cover most of his face.

After getting ready, Zhou Qingfeng pushed open the villa door, and the night wind brought a hint of chill.

He had only taken a few steps when he suddenly heard faint footsteps coming from the shade of a roadside tree. Turning his head cautiously, he saw a tall figure emerging from the shadows.

It was the mixed-race girl Hari who had agreed to help during the day. She was wearing a tight leather jacket, her long legs conspicuously visible in the moonlight, and she was carrying a black backpack.

"Are you heading out?" Hari's eyes had a sly glint. "It seems I came just in time."

-----------------

Hari's skin was darker, and coupled with her tight leather jacket, she almost blended into the night while walking in the shadows.

Seeing Zhou Qingfeng, a hint of delight flashed across her face. She quickly approached and lowered her voice, saying:

"The police questioned me and took a statement but didn't give me a hard time. It's just a shame they shut down my social account. I had hundreds of thousands of followers."

"Before nightfall, many reporters wanted to interview me, even offering payment for information about you."

"But don't worry, I'm tight-lipped and would never leak information. No one managed to tail me; I'm very cautious."

As Hari spoke, Zhou Qingfeng's eyes remained vigilantly scanning their surroundings. Before she finished, he suddenly drew his pistol and aimed it at Hari's head.

"Bang!" A gunshot pierced the night, the bullet with a scorching trail flying past Hari's ear towards a shadow a dozen meters away.
