Invasion of the United States

Chapter 28 Digging a Pit_2

On the company's website, the R&D department is designing the 'Warthog 2', with a larger wingspan, longer range, and higher payload capacity.

Zhou Qingfeng's work with low-altitude electric aircraft was originally just a way to secure a personal survival tool, but unexpectedly, it has grown to advance an entire industry.

Some semi-public information indicates that once the semi-automated production line in the domestic OEM factory is completed, a large batch of 'Warthogs' will follow Dongda's state-owned and private enterprises' overseas expansion steps and flood the global market.

For example, in Africa, Dongda's local state-owned enterprises can bypass the complex and dangerous ground conditions and directly perform 'point-to-point' logistics.

Some smaller governments even value its affordability and portability and wish to acquire armed versions of the 'Warthog'.

Despite the simplicity of this electric aircraft, compared to jet or even piston-engined fighters, it is clearly more practical—for amateur engagements, there's no need for high-end equipment.

Looking at Zhou Qingfeng's file, Dias felt somewhat annoyed—this guy needs to experience some setbacks, preferably severe ones.

Otherwise, he won't understand the importance of maintaining a friendship with the 'Tree of Justice'.

The M|V|LE&MPYR team worked hard on this chapter.

And now, there's the perfect opportunity to dig a pit for him to fall into.

-----------------

Three days have passed, and Zhou Qingfeng is still deeply comatose.

The heart monitor emits a low, monotonous "beep" sound, and the green line on the screen jumps steadily.

Next to it, the oxygen inhalation device, the intubation equipment, and even an expensive artificial lung are neatly arranged, their indicator lights quietly flashing, casting a cold gleam in the dim light.

The bedroom resembles a small ICU. After all, he is a billionaire, and at a life-and-death moment, the scene is nothing short of grand.

Selena leans against the edge of the bed, her small figure curled up, her head resting on her arms like a tired kitten.

On the small table beside the bed, there's a white porcelain bowl with traces of water at the bottom, and a few used cotton swabs scattered nearby.

Though Zhou Qingfeng has been unconscious for three days with a persistent high fever, his lips are not dry; clearly, someone has been carefully moistening them with water using cotton swabs.

The room is not occupied by Selena alone.

On the other side of the bed, Julia reclines against the back of a chair, Jennifer stands by the window, and Helen sits in a corner.

Even Kelly, who traveled for over a dozen hours from her home country, sits beside Zhou Qingfeng.

Maurice, as a tester for the "X Project," is also here.

He wears a wrinkled plaid shirt and nonchalantly says, "Don't worry, boss's current vital signs are very stable.

The heart rate, blood pressure, brain waves—all textbook-level perfect.

With the professional medical team monitoring him 24 hours, he couldn't die even if he wanted to; at worst, he might end up in a vegetative state."

As soon as he finished speaking, the women around the bed all turned their heads in unison, glaring at Maurice angrily, accusing him of spouting nonsense.

Maurice, however, remains oblivious and continues, "The boss's physiological functions are completely normal right now. If anyone wants to have his baby, now is the time to collect his sperm.

Too bad I'm not a woman, otherwise, I'd have already taken action, haha!" He grins, thinking he's being funny.

The women look at each other, momentarily speechless.

Julia's mouth twitches, Jennifer snorts coldly, Helen mutters a few words, and Kelly eyes Maurice, seemingly considering his suggestion.

After a few seconds of silence, the atmosphere becomes eerie and subtle.

Maurice finally senses something amiss, his smile stiffening as he tentatively adds, "Uh... I was just kidding, don't take it seriously."

-----------------

The atmosphere in the medical room gradually quiets down.

The women are not professional healthcare workers; after a while, their anxiety and fatigue intertwine, and they leave one by one.

Even the drowsy Selena is gently carried by Jennifer, taken to her own bedroom.

Only the low "beep" of the heart monitor remains in the room, the green light jumping on the screen in a cold and regular rhythm.

A wife of a former 'Corpse Collector' collaborator appears in the ward, earning a daily salary of ten thousand US dollars to provide professional care for Zhou Qingfeng.

Kelly and her sister Jennifer step out of the villa for some fresh air.

As they stand at the stone steps, they see their father, Jeff Connally, leaning against a black SUV, his brows furrowed.

When he sees his daughters come out, he immediately approaches, asking quietly, "How's that guy doing now?"

"Victor hasn't woken up yet," Jennifer shakes her head, "but his physical condition is okay, and his temperature has dropped from a peak of 44 degrees to around 38, 39 degrees. The doctor says there's no immediate danger to his life."

Jeff doesn't seem relieved at all. He asks perplexedly, "Why did he pass out? Took too many drugs? Didn't he avoid drugs?"

Kelly has some guesses but remains silent. Jennifer is equally puzzled and shakes her head, indicating she doesn't know.

Jeff paces a few steps, then says in a low voice, "There's trouble. The newly appointed acting governor is eager to fulfill his campaign promises and likely wants to target Victor."

"What?" Kelly looks up suddenly. Jennifer also stares at their father, waiting for more information.

Jeff continues, "It might be the Internal Revenue Service and FBI working together, investigating him for tax evasion and illegal transactions.

If they insist on labeling him as a 'threat to national security', it will be troublesome.

Do you remember a few years ago when Canada detained that person? House arrest for two years, restricted freedom, without a chance to turn things around."

He pauses, a trace of resentment in his eyes, "I was hoping to profit substantially by investing in this guy.

Whether he committed tax evasion, engaged in illegal transactions, or truly threatened national security, none of that really matters.
