Whether it was because Cheng Yi was nearby, Xinan was distracted while acting, and her gaze involuntarily drifted towards him.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yi seemed unfazed, his face the picture of calm.

Fortunately, the director didn't notice her distraction and didn't call cut, so Xinan had to keep acting.

To her surprise, she nailed it in one take, even though she had been prepared to film another.

The director was much easier-going than Lu Jiang and didn't have as many strict rules, so the actors felt relatively free on set.

This was the last scene of the day. When Xinan changed her clothes and came out, Cheng Yi was waiting at the door on a call.

Xinan stood silently beside him with her bag on her back, listening to him talk.

"Where are you guys?"

"Yeah, I'm with her."

"Let me ask."

Cheng Yi turned to Xinan. "Tan Bo and others are singing nearby, Jiang Yurou is there too. Do you want to go?"

After thinking for a moment, Xinan nodded.

It had been a while since she went out with Tan Bo and the others, so it would be nice to catch up.

Cheng Yi put his phone to his ear, "We'll be there soon."

After the call, Cheng Yi went to get his car. As he approached the roadside, a clear voice called out from behind, "Mr. Yi."

Cheng Yi looked back and saw a girl in denim shorts and a white T-shirt standing not too far away.

When Cheng Yi stopped, Lin Wei walked up to him and held out a cigarette pack, "You dropped this."

Cheng Yi patted his pocket and realized his cigarette pack was indeed missing, likely dropped when he fished for his keys.

He took the cigarette pack and said, "Thank you."

He had some recollection of this girl.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I'm filming here," Lin Wei replied.

Then, Cheng Yi remembered she studied at the film academy.

He nodded, and just as Lin Wei was about to speak again, Xinan's voice came from behind, "Lin Wei?"

Lin Wei turned around and greeted, "Senior Xinan."

Xinan walked up and to her surprise saw Cheng Yi with her; wasn't he supposed to be getting the car? Why was he with Lin Wei?

Before she could voice her query, Lin Wei spoke first, "He just dropped his cigarette pack."

"Oh." Xinan looked at Cheng Yi and introduced him, "This is Lin Wei, she's in the same production team as me."

He uttered a soft "Hmm" in response but said nothing.

Cheng Yi's phone rang again. It was Tan Bo asking how long they would be and to bring a good bottle of red wine with them.

Lin Wei said, "Then Senior Xinan, I'll be off."

"Okay."

After Lin Wei left, Cheng Yi looked at Xinan and asked, "Are you close with her?"

"So-so," Xinan said, puzzled. "Why?"

Why would Cheng Yi suddenly ask about her? He's never cared about who she befriended.

Cheng Yi shook his head, "Nothing."

Xinan was baffled but did not press further.

After getting into the car, Cheng Yi first bought a bottle of red wine, and then they drove to the karaoke place.

Before entering the private room, Xinan could already hear Jiang Yurou and Tan Bo's horrendous singing and regretted coming. Her ears were in for torture.

Upon seeing Xinan enter, Jiang Yurou immediately put the microphone aside, "Nannan, you finally made it."

Cheng Yi followed closely and when he saw Jiang Yurou about to pounce on Xinan, he hurriedly pulled her away, thwarting her attempt.

"Brother Yi!" Jiang Yurou looked crestfallen.

Cheng Yi merely ignored her pleading eyes, "Speak, don't touch."

Jiang Yurou huffed and stopped bothering with him, pulling Xinan into the room.

Tan Bo walked up to Cheng Yi and almost instinctively reached to sling an arm around his neck, "Bro, you finally arrived."

Cheng Yi looked at him with disdain, slightly moved aside to dodge the hand, and went straight inside.

Tan Bo's hand hovered awkwardly for a couple of seconds before he embarrassingly retracted it, trudging after Cheng Yi.

Jiang Yurou seated Xinan next to herself. Noticing Cheng Yi and Tan Bo talking and not paying attention to them, she leaned in and whispered to Xinan, "I heard you and Brother Yi got married?"

No need to guess, it was certainly Tan Bo who told her.

Xinan nodded slightly, without denying it.

"Why didn't you tell me last time? Don't you consider me a friend anymore? I was the last to know," Jiang Yurou grew more irritated the more she thought about it.

"Rourou, I didn't mean to hide it from you. The thing is, my relationship with Cheng Yi is not very stable right now. I was thinking of waiting until things settled down before telling you," Xinan explained.

After all, the marriage between them depended entirely on Cheng Yi, and she was still unsure of his feelings toward her.

One moment he seemed nice to her, the next moment not so much. She truly didn't know what he was thinking.

"Aren't you and Brother Yi mutually in love?" Jiang Yurou didn't understand why Xinan would say so.

Xinan's eyes had a trace of bitterness, "No, he doesn't like me."

"How could that be?" How could Cheng Yi possibly not like Xinan?

Xinan looked at Jiang Yurou and sighed, "I used to think he had some feelings for me, but in our senior year, I confessed to him, and he rejected me."
