Injustice Superman in Marvel

Chapter 126: Chaos in America

In the starry expanse, Legion Commander Sigmund piloted the Asgardian flagship, pursuing the Chitauri mothership.

What frustrated him was that while he could defeat the Chitauri army in open battle, he couldn't intercept their mothership beyond Asgard's territory with countless Chitauri fighters swarming them.

Even after Sif and others returned to the battlefield and took command of the legions, their vastly outnumbered forces were exhausted.

Asgard had only about 300,000 warriors, each as strong as Captain America, capable of lifting 20 to 30 tons.

Their Berserkers could lift 60 to 140 tons!

But their numbers were too few…

So, the Chitauri breached the atmosphere, descending upon Denver amid the screams of countless Americans.

Over eight million Chitauri warriors poured out of the 15-kilometer-long mothership.

The Grandmaster led his troops, swiftly counterattacking Earthlings and the pursuing Asgardians.

Meanwhile, Sigmund silently docked the flagship outside Denver.

He opened the landing bay, and over 80,000 Asgardian soldiers and 7,000 Berserkers surged out.

"Sif, take the Berserkers and disrupt the Chitauri formation!

Their numbers are overwhelming—we must divide them.

Otherwise, our reinforcements will be encircled once they eliminate the stragglers in space and land in Midgard!"

"Understood!"

Sif docked her ship near the flagship, leaped out, and beheaded twenty Chitauri before joining the charging Berserkers.

"Split into three groups! Volstagg and Fandral lead the others. Hogun provides archery support!

Other commanders, guard the flagship and prepare for reinforcements!"

Sigmund issued orders, and the commanders reluctantly complied.

Wars without the Bifröst were unfamiliar—no instant teleportation, just tactical maneuvering.

Wasn't war supposed to be about going wherever you wanted?

Hmph. Tactics without teleportation felt so primitive!

Meanwhile, the Grandmaster deployed over three million Chitauri to harass Asgard's legions, while her forces spread like a spiderweb in all directions.

Earthlings had done their best, launching over 2,000 nuclear missiles at the Chitauri fleet before they landed.

But this was reality, not a movie.

Humans, millennia behind Chitauri tech, couldn't inflict significant damage with their basic weapons.

Like in The Avengers, one nuke stopping the entire fleet?

Hah…

True, both Asgard and the Chitauri preferred melee combat, but did they lack WMDs?

Of course not.

The Bifröst and Thanos's Sanctuary II were planet-killers.

Yet, like nations on Earth avoiding nukes, such weapons were deterrents, not first strikes.

Why nuke a small country when it could backfire?

The universe's complexity dwarfed Earth's politics.

No one wanted to be the first target.

Thus, unless a war aimed to exterminate a race, advanced civilizations didn't annihilate primitives.

Thanos's army, seeking to halve all life, relied on ground invasions.

Asgard, obsessed with conquest, also favored ground battles.

This was why Marvel's aliens often fought terrestrially.

Despite America's carpet bombing of Denver and deploying nearby forces, their outdated weapons couldn't stop the Chitauri.

Within minutes, the U.S. military fell silent, overwhelmed.

Under media coverage, panic spread across the Americas.

In Washington, D.C., over 80,000 gathered outside the White House within half a day of the alien arrival.

Their banners shifted from "Defend America" to "Evacuate America," and finally…

"We need Superman!"

"We need superheroes!"

"The President's useless—we need heroes!"

These chants soon united the crowd, further burdening the interim President.

Yet, Washington's chaos didn't affect New York.

Over 150,000 Nuclear Bomb Gang members in black suits patrolled the streets, while the Justice League (minus Crossbones) reassured New Yorkers at key locations.

Even the Ancient Order, allies of the League, deployed over 20 mages to guard traffic hubs—an unprecedented move.

Their presence gave New Yorkers boundless courage.

Following Heisenberg's orders, Bullseye subtly spread rumors.

Soon, New York organized its own march, unlike Washington's.

Their banners thanked Superman for protecting New York, with some urging him to stay and not aid other cities.

In an era of fake snow in Texas and Trump's miracles, countless New Yorkers echoed this plea.

"New Yorkers love Heisenberg! Obey him! Other cities don't need him!"

Bullseye's media quickly broadcast New York's "unity," sparking rival marches in other cities begging for Heisenberg's aid.

Hollywood sent 800 actresses with body paint to invite him to Beverly Hills, claiming L.A. was a man's paradise.

Las Vegas, unconvinced, crowdfunded $3 billion outside City Hall, inviting Heisenberg and heroes.

At SHIELD, Hill, fresh from the UN, received Stark's call.

Stark, with his new wife, had fled to Heisenberg's theater at the first alien sighting.

He'd released his armors and remotely activated JARVIS to mass-produce Iron Suits.

Now, he asked Hill to send Captain America's team to collect the suits.

Hill agreed.

Soon, Cap, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and others arrived at Stark Tower's rooftop, near the theater.

Inside, Stark and Pepper, in suits, conferred with Hill via hologram.

Stark's helmet projected the tower's image, guiding SHIELD agents to collect 40+ Iron Suits.

After they left, Tony frowned at Billy.

"Still no word from Heisenberg?"

"No, he was taken by blue light. No one knows where."

"Great. His team's still in New York, right? The Justice League?

Send them to my company. I've got specialized suits for them.

SHIELD's suits can help Cap save others, while the League protects New York and my wife.

Hopefully, we'll hold out until Heisenberg returns!"

"Mr. Stark, don't worry. Nothing's too hard for my boss!"

"Hah. Can he have a baby alone?"

Tony joked, gripping Pepper's hand, his worry deepening.

Pepper rubbed his cheek.

"Tony, you've done enough. Forty suits are more effective than one Iron Man!"

"Hmph. True."

Tony nodded, his expression unchanged.

"I don't feel I owe the world anything. Protecting you and our family is my duty.

But will these aliens be the last? How long will Heisenberg stay? What if he leaves forever, like today?"

He sighed, his mind racing—a smart man's burden.

The alien invasion weighed heavily on him.

But was he alone?

As Nuggets fans grieved, the Grandmaster, slaughtering near the arena, noticed a green flash in the sky.

Her brow furrowed—she'd never forget that light's owner.

"Hela, Goddess of Death? I thought you were gone!"

She paused, her eyes widening.

"Damn it! Is this Loki's plan—to annihilate me and Thanos's core forces?!

Loki, you're ruthless!!!"

The Grandmaster, under pressure, sent her analysis to Thanos in the distant stars.
