Chapter 125: Hela
In the blink of an eye, Odin's voice faded completely, and his form vanished entirely.
The shimmering light of the All-Father's essence drifted upward, heading toward the final resting place of the Aesir gods.
The heavens!
Watching his father's final silhouette, Thor clenched his teeth, forcing back the tears threatening to spill.
Then he turned, his gaze locking onto his brother with fierce intensity.
"Loki…!"
He growled.
"This is all your fault!!!"
"Brother…"
Loki's expression was utterly desolate, as if only now, in the face of true loss, could he finally understand.
All the hatred he'd clung to, the grudges he'd held so tightly—none of it had truly mattered to him!
Was revenge all he'd ever wanted?
No. What he'd truly craved was the one thing Odin had just said to him.
"Child, I love you…"
That was all!!!
Yet nothing could be undone. Loki, who had delivered Hela to Asgard, had long forfeited any right to decide their fate.
And most cruelly, he didn't even have the right to grieve in solitude.
Because he and Thor still had a battle to fight—a brother who wouldn't hesitate to kill him, or at least beat him senseless, right now.
Thor raised his right hand, and Mjolnir, the source of his agony, appeared in his grip.
Loki extended both hands, and the twin daggers forged by the Dwarves and enchanted by Frigga materialized in his palms.
The distance between them was barely two meters, and the clash was imminent.
But just then…
BOOM!!!
A thunderous roar echoed from the distant horizon, drawing their involuntary gaze.
It wasn't thunder, though—it was the sound of space itself fracturing.
Dark clouds swirled into a vortex, converging into a whirlpool at the zenith.
At its center, a blinding green light erupted.
In the next instant, a black-clad figure leaped from the green light, charging toward Thor and Loki.
With her arrival, the vortex of dark clouds vanished instantly!
Staring at the woman before him—her black hair loose, her form-fitting battle armor torn, her face twisted in a cold smirk—Thor couldn't help but swallow hard.
"You're Hela?"
"Hmph."
Hela smirked, nodding coldly before countering with a question.
"He's dead, isn't he? Too bad I couldn't see it with my own eyes!"
"How dare you! He was our father—your father too, sister!!!"
Thor's fury erupted at Hela's words, and Mjolnir crackled with lightning.
As for Hela…
Her arrogant smirk only fueled Thor's rage, for it reminded him too much of someone else!
Someone who'd shattered his hammer, killed his father, and usurped the throne of Asgard!
In an instant, Thor's eyes blazed with lightning, his aura surging.
But what of it?
Hela merely sneered, addressing Thor with disdain.
"You call me sister, so you're his children, hmm…"
She pointed at Thor, mocking him.
"Pardon my honesty, but you don't look anything like him!"
The moment the words left her mouth, even in the gravity of the situation, Loki burst into laughter.
"Haha! I like your style, sister!"
As he spoke, Loki subtly distanced himself from Thor. If a fight was coming, better to keep their distance and coordinate.
To Loki's surprise, Hela actually smiled in satisfaction.
"You, on the other hand, look just like him!"
"Wow, that's the best compliment I've ever heard! Even though we've just met, I'm so glad to have a sister like you.
So, can we sit down and talk?"
Loki moved cautiously as he pleaded with Hela.
"Of course!"
Hela agreed readily, raising her right hand and pointing her index finger at the ground.
"I don't mind chatting, but you'll have to pay your respects to the future queen first!
Now, kneel!!!"
"Huh?"
"What?"
Hela's arrogant demand left Thor and Loki exchanging bewildered glances.
Moments later, Loki shrugged helplessly at Thor.
"You talk to her, or should I?"
"You do it!"
"I don't want to—she's too intimidating!"
"But you're good at this! Remember our roles?"
"That was me playing the patient and you the relative—you're the one who talks!"
"But you're the silver-tongued one! Dad always said so!"
"Damn it, fine, I'll do it!"
Thor and Loki's bizarre exchange made Hela frown in confusion.
What on earth were they planning to say to her?
Fresh from her imprisonment, Hela was curious enough to hear them out.
She crossed her arms, smirking coldly.
"Speak your piece, before I lose interest!"
"Emmm, alright!"
Loki nodded reluctantly.
"You just said you're Asgard's future queen, but I'm afraid you're mistaken.
Whether it's Asgard or the Nine Realms, they already have a new ruler!"
"Hmph…"
Hela scoffed, shaking her head.
"Is it him? Mjolnir's new master?
Odin always favored brainless brutes, so it must be you, right?
So, if I kill you, I'll be the new All-Father?"
As she spoke, she flicked her wrist, and the sharp blade of death materialized in her hand.
She strode toward Thor, as if ready to strike him down in the next instant.
But Loki's next words halted her in her tracks.
"Sorry, it's neither me nor Thor, nor any of Father's sons.
I'll admit, Odin was strong, but he met his end in a sacred battle and now resides in the halls of Valhalla!
Gungnir has a new master—the All-Father's name is Hela, and while she's not Aesir, she wields power the Aesir cannot hope to match… Ugh!!!"
Loki's words were cut short as Hela's grip tightened around his throat, lifting him off the ground.
"You're saying Asgard fell to another race?!
Impossible!!!
You pathetic fools! Odin was just a feeble old man without will.
Asgard's victory and glory were lost to you?
Summon the Bifröst! I'm returning to that damned realm.
I'll reclaim everything we've lost and restore it to the Aesir!
What's ours will always be ours. Asgard does not tolerate defeat!
And unlike you cowards, we would have fought to the death, not stood here blathering after failure!
Worthless trash!!!"
Heavens knew the fury burning within Hela now.
Yet her words left Thor utterly humiliated!
Did he not want to fight to the death?
Did he truly accept losing the throne?
If not for his father's dying command, Thor would have fought Hela to the bitter end.
But now, as his father's final hope, he couldn't simply throw his life away!
And you—you, who were imprisoned by Father—dare to stand here and condemn us all?
What right do you have to chastise him?
Or to hurt my brother in front of me?
Thor swung Mjolnir with blinding speed, charging toward Hela.
He might not be a match for Hela or his father, but he could damn well fight her!
In the next instant, he brought the hammer down on Hela's face with all his might.
Let this blow wake you up, you foolish sister!
SHING!!!
…
A dull thud echoed as Hela absorbed the blow with her forehead, while her sword pierced Thor's waist in the same instant.
The blade transformed into a hook, locking Thor in place.
She lifted the stunned and pained Thor before her, roaring at them both.
"Let this strike wake you up, you foolish brother! You're no match for me!
Now, summon the Bifröst! I must return to our realm and slay that damned Hela!!!
Don't you dare stand in my way, even if I was imprisoned for over four thousand years… Wait, what's that?!"
Hela's words were cut short by a faint sound from the distant horizon.
She turned, stunned, toward the Atlantic.
In the darkness of night, the light of a spaceship breaking through the atmosphere couldn't go unnoticed by a being of her cosmic power!
What Hela saw instantly robbed her of any interest in Thor and Loki's bickering.
Her fury intensified, and she bellowed at them.
"Midgard, Asgard's territory, is under attack by Thanos's defeated minions!
The Chitauri are nothing but brainless trash, yet they've breached our defenses and reached Midgard's shores!
This is your shame—and that so-called All-Father Hela's shame!"
BOOM!!!
Thor and Loki were flung aside as green light flashed around her.
In an instant, her tattered armor was restored, and her wild hair transformed into antlers.
Straightening her appearance, Hela cast a final disdainful glance at the brothers.
"You useless fools can kneel here and repent for your failures!
I must lead our armies to reclaim our victory and honor from the Chitauri!
Then I'll return to Asgard and slay that wretched Hela who's left it so weak!
After that, I expect you two—my blood relatives—to fight harder for Asgard's glory!
What he abandoned, I'll reclaim. What he lost, I'll restore!
The Nine Realms will return to the Aesir, and the universe will fall beneath our heels.
And it will be me who achieves it—your elder sister, Asgard's true queen!
I am Hela. Remember my name!"
With that, Hela took flight, vanishing in an instant.
Left behind, Loki rubbed his neck helplessly.
He rolled his eyes at Thor, who was tending to his wound.
"She's just like that guy, isn't she?"
"Fk, you mean Hela?"
"Of course. Don't you think so, brother?"
"You're right—that arrogance is identical!"
"Hmph. But I must say… she…"
"What about her, damn it? She's so strong—my waist's pierced again!"
"Emmm, sorry about that. I just realized… her helmet's antlers… don't they look more deer-like than mine?"
...(╯°Д°)╯︵┻━┻
"Fk, you're thinking about that now?!"
Thor was nearly laughing in frustration, rubbing his waist as he pulled himself up.
"Don't just stand there! We need to get to the battlefield—we can't let that damned woman look down on us!"
With that, Thor grabbed Loki and took flight.
But Loki, in his arms, protested.
"Wait, damn it! The Chitauri are my army—you're making me fight my own troops?!"
