Chapter 327 - Packing up for another move (Part 2)
The briefing was quick and my husband kept his number of words to a bare minimum. His face was cold throughout their brief encounter. He did not make any effort to even try to hide his reluctance in offering them this place to relocate and live in. I can only nod at the heralds and smile at them helplessly. They also smiled back and nodded back in understanding.
For this group, just like the elves, I did not dare provide any discounts on the rent. I know just how much negative feelings Laerad has for the elves. What he feels for the heralds should be of the same level since these two were allies even before the great war. I don't want unnecessary trouble so I kept quiet.
After were done settling down the heralds in their new home, Laerad and I teleported to the new Gollmortha which is our last stop for migration for the day. When I looked around, I can't help but be in awe of the place. In terms of effort, it was quite evident that my husband had gone above and beyond in building this place, obviously showing some form of favoritism towards the giants' race.
One word to describe it was "majestic". It was situated securely in a valley surrounded by mountains with lush vegetation and abundant in other types of resources such animals that can be hunted. On one side of the territory, there was a magnificent waterfall coming down from one of the mountains with a flowing river at the bottom. There were also wide areas of obviously fertile farm land just by looking at the soil quality. This place totally screams "preferential treatment".
After being in awe with the final look that Laerad gave for the new Gollmortha, I looked at Laerad who had a very smug face. He then smiled at me asking for praise but I just rolled my eyes at him. He knew that I noticed how deliberate he was on showing his favoritism for the giants.
I suddenly remembered though that he also mentioned that he liked the fairies. There territory doesn't look this majestic though. I then remembered that he said that once he becomes my husband, he can't promise to be not jealous of the smallest things. Did my decision of having children with King Peony's sons actually produced a negative effect on Laerad's treatment towards the fairy race?
I could only apologize to them in my heart since their territory ended up as nowhere near the abundance found in Gollmortha. I started wondering about this since their territory was the first one Laerad has ever constructed so techinically, he could have used more time to beautifu it. Gollmortha was the last one made and in a sense, there should be less time used to perfect it. I should have known that Laerad could be this petty if he wanted to.
I teleported back to Marahuyo to fetch the giants this time with a wide smile on my face. They looked at me curiously as to why I looked quite happy compared to the last few times that I teleported back. Nobody tried to ask me why though.
When I arrived, I saw all the giants have assembled themselves on one side of the plaza. They showed me how ready they all were to occupy the teleportation portal and leave once I gave them the signal. It showed their full trust and obedience towards the plans I have for them as well.
Upon seeing me appear inside the teleportation portal, they all quickly moved themselves and their belongings within the portal quickly in a very organized manner. They were all waving excitedly to say their goodbyes to the others that will be staying back in Marahuyo. They all look happy, thinking positively that this is just a temporary farewell anyways.
Upon reappearing in the new Gollmortha, I could see the sudden change in the facial expressions of the giants. Some looked very surprised and some rubbed their eyes seemingly in disbelief. I couldn't blame them since the new sanctuary that were assigned to them would really give that type of reaction.
Some of the giants were agape and speechless. Some even started crying due to happiness and gratitude. Some bowed and kneeled in reverence towards Laerad.
Laerad this time was very cordial in the way he communicated with the giants and asked all of them to rise from the ground. He thanked them personally for trying to defend the old world tree realm and Eieneos, causing them to be kicked out of the old realm early just like the fairies. He said that it was their reward for being kind-hearted, just and loyal.
After the heart warming greetings and exchanges of gratitude, Laerad continued with the same briefing that he had with the other two races but this time he always had a big smile on his face. He also entertained questions and answered them patiently and generously, something he did not do for the elves and heralds.
He ended the briefing by proactively telling the giants about the same rental discount scheme that we offered to the fairies (the six-month half rent payment) and everybody was instantly ecstatic. Tears of joy started flowing from the eyes of the giants again as they received another reward for the loyalty that their ancestors have shown. Indeed, both goodwill and sins are bound to be inherited by the next generation.
All in all, today was a bit tiring for me (not that the other days aren't) but I am quite proud of myself since I was very productive. Now, we have four different territories filled with tenants that are expected to pay rent diligently. I could not help but smile sincerely and look at Laerad gratefully. He could have banned the elves and heralds but he didn't.
Laerad looked at me the moment I looked at him. He also gave me a smile back, this time a sincere one. He may still have negative feelings and was deciding against giving the heralds and elves a place to stay here in the world tree realm but as a deity of Aeocrescens, I know he will still fulfill his duty.
He will not abandon any race just because of personal grudges. He also firmly told me that he is willing to do everything to help me fulfill my own mission even if it is conflicting with his beliefs or emotions. In a sense, he clearly showed me that he has his priorities right.
After a prolonged silence between us, he whispered to my ear, "Are you staying with me tonight?"
I looked at him in surprise and smiled mischievously at him. When he saw that familiar glint in my eyes, he stepped backwards once, turned around and started walking away from me in a hurry. He then shouted, "I changed my mind. You can stay the night next time. Bye!"
I teleported right behind him, hugged his waist with both my arms and teleported away again. We ended up falling on our spacious bed inside our room in the little hut. He was underneath me and I was pinning him on the bed.
As we left, his loud scream echoed throughout Gollmortha together with the sound of loud laughter from me. Does he think he can tease me like that then just take it back?

POV: Remaining Citizens of Marahuyo
The sudden migration of more than a hundred mystiques just after a quick preparation of 24 hours have dampened the atmosphere in Marahuyo quite a bit. The people here have been living harmoniously for more than half a year and they have become great friends and neighbors.
Though they all come from different races and territories, some of them have also started having lovers and potential husbands or wives within the sanctuary. With this migration, some of them had to part ways temporarily due to circumstances.
Makisig, Vaelion and Reiss are also feeling a bit down. Being pregnant makes their emotions more unstable when there are sudden changes like situation that cause them to be happy, sad, jealous or angry.
At the same time, they also appreciate that their wife had prepared a separate and more special arrangement for them. They just feel bad about the others that have been living in the same compound in the northern villas with them but had to leave in advance. Since they are not yet permanently connected with their wife, they have to live with the others at this time. Their emotions are just all over the place.
They know it was wrong to think that it was their wife's fault that they had to part ways with their childhood friends and comrades. It was up to her if she wants to take a man in or not. Though they feel bad for these close friends, they are also glad that their wife was not a serial philanderer like most women in this world. They really don't know how to process the sudden changes so they just kept their thoughts to themselves.
The other races left in the sanctuary were mostly beast men from different tribes. They understand that they have quite a high number of members so the preparation for their permanent living area may take some time. They were also thinking that at this time, they can work harder in bringing over other beast men that need rescuing or better living conditions.
The thought of bringing his brethren to this sanctuary was also the same thoughts that Marius was having as of moment. While everybody was busy with the migration, the only merman in the sanctuary chose to be busy as well with expanding the living area he is preparing for his people that will soon arrive here.
He doesn't know when he and Luna will be going to Cyreneia for the rescue mission but he knows that she will keep her promise to him. He just has to wait patiently for Luna to finish all of her previous tasks.
