Chapter 324 - Let there be more chaos
My parents were the first to break the silence and my mother couldn't help but ask, "Again? Isn't this your first meeting with Altair?"
I looked at my mother and replied, "It's complicated. I am not even sure if I can talk about it. Talk to Altair about it. He'll tell you if he feels like it."
My mother looked at Altair and like a tamed kitten, his tone of voice changed and replied, " Mother-in-law, father-in-law, it is great to finally meet the both of you. No worries! I will tell you everything in private."
Altair smiled sweetly at my parents and then at me. He then looked at the three other guys and haughtily scoffed at them. He then said, " It's nice to see the three of you again after several centuries."
He paused and continued, "I would have started with that very polite greeting if Samir did not start saying bad things about me on the get go. I will change my greeting then."
He smiled and added, "It has been several centuries but you are all still the same losers as I see." He then looked at Samir with a knowing look and said, "You were awaken by our wife much earlier than everybody else but as I see, you are still untouched. How useless." He then rolled his eyes at him.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I saw that Samir was speechless at Altair's direct attack so I replied on his behalf at least, "It was my idea since I have other husbands I met before I woke him up. He is already in the wait list, though."
Altair looked at me with an aggrieved look and said, "But you met me first..." Even before he can say more, I heard Samir exclaim, "Don't you dare..."
Wow! What is this rivalry all of a sudden? It seems that Altair has a passive skill to endlessly taunt and anger people he doesn't like that much.
I smiled and calmed the situation, "I already promised Samir so you have to go at the back of the line. I can still play with you if you can't wait though."
I grabbed Altair by the shoulder and I teleported him inside my study. He looked stunned by my abrupt move and he could only look at me in confusion.
Once we arrived inside my study, I pushed him to sit on one of the chairs while I sat across him. I stared at him and asked, "So this is your idea of a surprise, huh? Who was that who said that I should stop my wishful thinking since I am not their type? Who was that who said that they aren't interested in being my husband?"
Altair looked at me and started pleading almost instantly, "Wife, I have to play the role of the guiding god at that time. I paid a huge price to take that spot on the day you were foretold to arrive in this world. I did not mean anything I said at that time. I can't reveal my real identity for grave reasons. Don't be angry anymore, okay?"
I chuckled and replied, "Oh, I wasn't angry. I just have a good memory and I don't force myself on people who don't like me." I smiled at him meaningfully before walking towards the door to exit my study.
He followed me immediately and tried to touch me but I teleported right outside the door quickly. He had to open the door from the inside the study to catch up to me.
He can't teleport since he hasn't seen the whole house yet much less the corridor outside my study. Teleportation can't be done haphazardly if you don't want to be stuck in between dimensions or your physical body destroyed.
I teleported back to my parents and surprisingly, they were still standing where I left them earlier. This includes the three other ex-sleeping beauties, Samir, Luxiel and Touya.
I looked at each of them and then asked, "Why are you all still here? I brought Altair to my study to talk to him in private about something." I chose not to go in to details though their faces looked like they were waiting for me to say more.
I then addressed Samir and instructed him, "You take care of advising these three about their tasks in this kingdom. I will leave before that guy reaches this place. He might be lost right now since I renovated most parts of this palace to my liking when I arrived here."
With that, I teleported away and this time, I reappeared at the Noir headquarters in Sklavryet. I have decided to tire myself out by doing some manual labor today to cool off and get my head off of things.
I walked out of my personal residence inside the HQ and at this time, everybody must be in their personal rooms to rest. I continued walking until I am out of the HQ and went to the site of my new trade city instead.
As I looked around, I saw that most of the construction materials are placed neatly on one side. The land inside has been flattened and alreadprepapred for further construction. As for the walls, it was about 50% constructed as of the moment.
I checked the time and it was already a few minutes past midnight, So as not to disturb the rest of others, I erected a mana barrier in the whole area together with a time adjustment spell. I learned my lesson so I made sure to soundproof the place as well. I should have a total of about 50 hours before the sun rises to work on my own in peace.
I sighed and simply chanted in my head, "Out of sight, out of mind." I will just do what I need to do for now to calm my mind. I continued the wall construction from where the other workers have left it off.
My speed was incomparable to the previous workers since I used a combination of spells and my physical abilities which are indeed way above that of humans. I was finishing the wall like I am the equivalent of about a 100 skilled workers. Even I was surprised at what I am capable of if I put my mind in to it. I think I was too focused and the only thing in my mind is to stack up bricks and pouring the cement-like stuff to stick everything together.
At about the time equivalent to 24 hours inside the barrier, I sensed someone walk inside my temporary territory on purpose. I knew who it was but I was just wondering what brought him here in the wee hours in the morning since he disliked work the most.
I ignored his presence since there wasn't any killing intent towards me. He also did not hide his presence so it means he is announcing his arrival and not sneaking up on me. As for me, I continued working in a wall like a workaholic in complete silence.
I felt him watching me from a distance but he chose not to say anything too. After about half an hour he suddenly spoke, "Though you looked focused on what you are doing, it is obvious that you are thinking about many other things at once."
I did not respond immediately though I heard him speak. He did not say anything else afterwards since I stayed silent.
After about another half an hour, he spoke again as if he enjoyed having a monologue. He added, "Most likely, your issue is about men. I heard that the more of them you are entangled with, the greater amount of problems you have in the long run." I still did not say anything.
After another half an hour, he spoke again, "I like this barrier. It stretches time. If I had this ability, I would use it to sleep more. In the rare chance that I am not feeling lazy, I can also finish more tasks for less time outside of here."
At this time, the wall was already about 70% done since I have technically worked non-stop for about a day and a half. inside the time adjusted barrier. I don't feel hungry or tired anymore like a normal human would so I did not find the need to stop at all. I paused a bit to address the bird that was chattering neat me, trying to get my attention.
I looked at him and responded to all of his earlier comments in one go, "I came here for the silence and the distraction. This place is mine anyways so I don't see what's wrong with helping out to expedite the work. I did end up with way more men than I expected to have in just less than a year. I tried to avoid adding more but they just pop up here and there and they don't take "No" for an answer. I want more children so I just let them be. I already expected such problems to arise eventually as the number of my family members continue to grow but I just don't want to deal with any of them right now. Just to remind you, you're a man too so you are included in the things I do not want to deal with right now."
