Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 294 - A realization from the blood demons' side

As Void and I disappeared from the living areas outside the dark elves' palace, one of the spies hastily returned to the other side of the territory that is currently being governed by the blood demons. He ran to find their lord to report about a sudden visit of a being whom should be the one they have been desperate to have an audience with for the longest time.

It took less than 10 minutes for the spy to reach the Blood Demon Lord Cynfael's chambers to report of the sudden visit of an female guest. When the lord heard about this news, he immediately called for his youngest son, Prince Athan, who has been sulking for several months now due to failing to get any reliable leads as to where his offspring is currently being hidden by the woman who he had been calling an "evil witch". He was downright frustrated since he felt that he was tricked, molested and even his descendant was stolen from him.

It took a lot of convincing (A/N: It was threatening, actually) before the prince decided to leave his room and meet with his father. Athan obviously not liking being summoned, asked grumpily what all the commotion was about. Lord Cynfael responded to his son, "A woman who is most likely the queen of Eieneos has finally made a visit to the dark elves' sanctuary."

Athan stared blankly at his father but did not comment on the update. Eventually, he scowled in irritation, obviously not caring about the arrival of this said queen even a single bit. In an angered tone, he asked his father, "What does that have to do with me? Why do you even need me to hear about this?"

Lord Cynfael looked at his son exasperatedly and replied, "Your stay in the human realm for several months have made you stupid! Our race needs her help so we have to meet her whether we like it or not. You are my only son who is unmarried so you are the best candidate to meet her with me as a negotiation representative."

Athan laughed sarcastically and replied, "Father, you must have forgotten that though I am not married, I already have a child somewhere. I don't know how it happened as you have said that I am still miraculously chaste but I refuse to meet another woman, I have more important things than acting as your pawn or bait in that negotiation."

As a father, he understood his son's feelings. There is a very uncomfortable ache and emptiness in one's soul when a child is born away from the father. The longer the child is growing without the father's care, the lesser are the chances for the child to even recognized the said father as a parent. This is the reason why men would do anything to keep a child's custody even if the woman abandons them eventually or even at a great risk to their health.

Cynfael sighed thinking that he might not have a choice but to tell his son about a hypothesis that he has recently come up with. He decided to ask his son directly about a logical reason why he can't find his child, "Athan, I know you are worried about the whereabouts of your child but I just want you to realize something. Do you realize which is the only race that has the ability to create life then give birth to it without needing to use a man's womb?"

At first, Athan became even more irritated the more his father talks about things that he did not care for. It took some time before his attention was piqued by his father's last question. Realizing that something was amiss, he asked his father. "What are you trying to say? Stop speaking in riddles."

Cynfael replied, "I know that most of your memories from the events from several months ago was spotty but what we both know is that Prince Void was the one who found you in Arista and brought you back here. We already have doubts that the dark elves have met with the delegate from Eieneos several months ago as well."

Athan started feeling nervous for some reason. He tried remembering anything about that night he met that lewd woman who took advantage of him in the name of revenge. He remembered she fed him some delicious blood, helped him remove his slave mark and then healed his scars and wounds. The problem was that was all he could remember which is a totally fishy fact. No matter how much thinking he does, he could not remember how her voice sounded like, how she smelled or even the feeling of her touch. He ends up with a very bad migraine too afterwards which has frustrated him to no end.

When he suddenly felt that tug of comforting warmth in his soul, he knew that he has sired a child. He found it weird since that incident happened several months ago so why did the child come about only now? He simply thought that maybe the child needed to gather some strength before making its existence known. Most likely, one of the races took his seed and made experiments with it since he was found to still be chaste when the healers inspected his body after his rescue.

He went back to Arista to retrace his steps but saw that the place has been razed to the ground then rebuilt. It did not have even a shadow of how it looked like when he was enslaved back then. When his search came to nothing, he desperately tried scouring the whole human realm. For several months now, he has been trying all the possible ways to pinpoint the location of his child.

Even if that child came to being without his knowledge and definitely without his permission, it was still his flesh and blood. He was desperate because this child can also possibly be the only descendant he might have in his lifetime given the dire situation in this world. For some reasons unknown, no matter what he did, he could not find the child as if it was hidden on purpose in a place he can never reach. (A/N: He is actually right about this.)

All of these thoughts, worries and fears passed inside Athan's mind in just a matter of seconds. He looked at his father's eyes and asked, "Are you trying to tell me that Eieneos and those dark elves colluded to hide my child from me? You think that queen has something to do with all of this?"

Lord Cynfael sighed and replied with a heavy heart. "I don't have any evidence about these thoughts that I have. I only have a gut feeling that these coincidences are not mere coincidences. They may most likely be related to your child with that woman you can't remember."

Athan finally finding a possible clue of his child's whereabouts screamed in anger as tears of frustration started falling from his eyes, "WHY?! What do they need from us? Are they using my child as a hostage? What wrong did I even do for her to do this to me?"

Lord Cynfael replied, "This is what we have to confirm with those on the other side of the sanctuary. We may still catch up to her if we make an official visit to the dark elves' territory right now."

Athan wiped his tears, grabbed his father's wrist and teleported straight to the area right in front of the door to the chambers of the king inside the dark elves' palace. When the guards saw the duo, they immediately asked the reason for their visit with no prior appointment. Athan froze them in place with his mana, pushed the door open and ran towards where he can sense King Eirsolin's presence.

Just like the other door, he pushed open the door to the personal chambers of the king where he entertains guests without even knocking. Just when Cynfael thought that his son will go on a further rampage to confront King Eirsolin and Prince Void, he stopped after taking one step into the chambers.

His face was pale and he looked frozen in place as he stared at the three people currently sitting inside. Prince Void who is facing the door, King Eirsolin who has his back towards the door and another one who they are not familiar with but is dressed as a woman seemed to have not been suprised at their sudden arrival. The sudden noise by the door alerted Eirsolin and Void who both looked at the doorway but they kept their calm and simply looked coldly at the arrival of Cynfael and Athan.

As for the woman seated next to Eirsolin, she seemed to have said something that got the attention of Eirsolin and Void since they looked back to her. She then bowed her head as if thanking them. She slowly stood up and just when Athan thought that she will also look back to where he was, she teleported away.

For some reason, Athan felt that he has lost something very important at the same time he felt very weak as if he will lose consciousness any time soon. He froze because he was overwhelmed by her presence. Even though he was quite far from where she was, he felt that she was familiar. He also had a whiff of her enticing scent which overwhelmed his senses. He wanted to approach so he could hear her voice and see her face but she disappeared before he could do so.
