Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 276 - The Magical Population Increase

I ignored the observing eyes around the plaza and continued with the reason why I came to this place. Since the meat, vegetables and fruits are all above the needed amount for everyone's consumption, I focused on other things like medicinal herbs, condiments and other staples.

I rummaged through the inventory and decided to fill up their stock of condiments which are personally concocted by me as well as herbs and spices. I also left some medicinal herbs for them to use for basic wounds and illnesses. Mystiques are tough but they can still get hurt or sick. My race is the only one that's differently built. I also made sure to leave a booklet on how to use them so they have an idea what each one was for.

After I am done with my inventory check, I started seeing a few of my people approaching the community kitchen. They must be the ones assigned to cook today's breakfast for everyone living in the territory. I have a lot of time in my hands so I will help them out today.

When they saw that someone is already in the kitchen, they were surprised. After they noticed that it was someone they know, they visibly calmed down and greeted me excitedly. With my help, breakfast preparation was quick and organized. All the dishes were prepared in less than an hour because of the number of people helping out.

After the cooking was done, I happily ate breakfast with everybody in the territory. It was also an indirect way of checking out the new citizens of my sanctuary. When I left, there were a total of 129 citizens in Marahuyo, including the four trespasser brats of Yoffir. At this time, when I used my mana sense to count the living beings here, there are now 184 of them. That was an increase of 55 citizens in less than a month.

I looked around and saw a lof of new faces from the side of giants and a few smaller groups which are more likely beastmen. Elves and Giants have distinct characteristics so it was quite obvious. For some reason, they also have a mix of different hair colors that got me feeling amused. Some have white fluffy hair. Some have black, dark gray and I even saw one that both have white and black streaks of hair. It got me wondering if this has something to do with their skin or fur colors in their animals forms.

I am really curious and I couldn't help but stare longer than necessary due to my curiosity. I was still deep in thought when a protruding belly suddenly appeared to block my line of sight. I slowly looked up and saw Makisig staring at me with one eyebrow raised. I smiled at him, tapped the seat beside me and invited him to sit next to me.

He sat carefully then asked me in an accusing manner, "Have you started looking for potential beast husbands so quickly? I never thought that you would be interested in the gentle and herbivore types on your first pick."

I looked at him and clarified, "Gentle and herbivore types? I was just curious since their hair colors are different and thought that it may be connected to what animal form they have. I also noticed there are a few more giants as well. I do know that they are all beast men but have no idea what type which explains the staring."

He looked at me and sarcastically said, "Oh! I can gladly help you feed your curiosity. I can call on all the newbies to come forward and have them introduce themselves to you since this is your territory."

I looked at him and laughed. I teased Makisig and said, "Oh that would be great! I thought you were feeling jealous and hated that I was looking around at the new faces. Thank you for being understanding." I beamed at him sweetly after my remarks.

He stared at me in shock and replied, "I am just doing my job as the assigned leader of this place. Don't assume I am not jealous just because I am trying to be nice. Hmpf!"

Makisig then stood up carefully while supporting his belly. He then walked towards the front of the dining area and called everybody's attention. He then requested for all the new citizens to come in front and introduce themselves formally to the owner of the territory who is also his wife as he pointed towards me.

The new citizens who were called forward, all 55 of them, stood up and walked slowly towards the front. They looked at me with obvious nervousness and fear. It is not like I would kick them out of the territory if they stutter during their introductions, right?

They couldn't help but form their own groups even in front of a crowd. There were three distinct groups in front with varying number of members. I still don't know which type of herbivore was Makisig pertaining to but I guess I will know about that in a bit.

The giants started their introductions first which included their names and the professions that they have. It took some time before they finished their introductions since there are 18 of them. The hurriedly vowed to do everything they can to help out the territory as well as follow all the rules that I have set since they do not want to go back to Gollmortha or be a nomad.

The next ones to introduce themselves were a group of 20 people who have dual hair colors. The usual combination was either of white, black, chocolate brown or reddish brown. Their group has a few elderly males and females, a few children that looked less than 10 years old and the rest were burly looking males. There were weirdly no females at marrying age at all. They openly said that they were cow beast men. This came to me as a surprise since it was magical how they could hide their horns perfectly.

The second to the last group were 14 people who have those fluffy hair types I saw earlier. Their hair color is one solid color compared to the previous group. Their hair colors ranged from white, cream blonde, dark gray, black and different shades of brown from a light cinnamon to a dark chocolate brown. They were not as burly as the previous group but they are still tall and strong-looking. Just like the previous group, they shyly said that they were from the sheep tribe of beast men.

The last group that came forward were three young boys that look quite similar to each other. The eldest one spoke for the other two who look so nervous that they were shaking. The eldest one said that they were brothers. He said that he was only 12 years old while the other two were 9 and 7. He said that their parents died several years ago.

Makisig whispered next to me and gave me an idea about these three children. He said that they were found hiding in a tiny underground cave in the middle of the forest with broken chains around their feet, looking filthy and thin. When the three children realized that they were being rescued, they fainted and had to be carried back to the territory. He said that they look better now after they have been bathed and fed quite a couple of times but as per their story, they escaped from a slave trader.

I smiled at all the new citizens and welcomed them warmly to the territory. I advised them to talk to any of the assigned leaders for anything that they need housing, food or anything to do their jobs better. They bowed towards me and hurriedly went back to their seats afterwards to continue eating.

The rest of the meal was quiet and everybody was simply focusing on enjoying their meals. As for me, I am chatting with my three pregnant husbands and making sure that they are getting all the food they wanted to eat. Though the people around us seem to be ignoring us, I can still feel their eyes watching me and they are listening to our conversations.

More than 50% of the unmarried men who came to this territory have one clear goal. This goal has something to do with getting a chance to have a child in their lifetimes with my help, of course. Besides me, the only women in this territory right now are elderly, young children and that adopted child of Yoffir who had nothing but fighting in her head.

Unless they are willing to wait for some of the children to grow up or for Yoffir's adopted daughter to be enlightened, there's only me.

Being the owner of the territory makes me their first choice for their partner to make their status in the territory more secured and stable. It is normal for people, particularly men, to look for a woman who can protect them or provide for them. These things are information are given to me by my three pregnant husbands based on what they have heard around.

Back in my world, many people dream of "marrying up". Both men and women work hard to get marriage partners that are either rich, popular or someone who came from a powerful background, thinking that it will set them for life. It is the same in this world. It is just that the society makes the males more desperate for this arrangement so I can't stop them from thinking this way. My husbands have always been vocal about me being different in how I treat my men and this difference makes me attractive to any man even more.

After my meal with everybody, I called for a meeting together with the assigned leaders for each race in the territory as well as the 55 new inhabitants so I can meet them in a more personal setting. I want to ask them their needs and circumstances since I vowed to make my people in Marahuyo live an even better life than what they had before.
