Chapter 256 - Negotiations at Zanahavre (Part 3)
Nasturtium, guardian of the Prosperity Trading Area
I never thought that there will come a day that I would fall this low. I was busy evacuating the people from the trading area after hearing news from the two guards of the sanctuary that an intruder has unfortunately broken into our home.
I was about to leave the trading area after confirming that nobody else was left behind when I felt a strong surge of unknown mana enter the area. Damn! I admit I got scared and in my panic, I transformed myself into the likeness of a 5-year old human girl that I spontaneously named Lily.
The woman that peeked into the stall I was hiding in was ethereally beautiful. She was wearing a dark colored dress that matches her eyes. She looked kind and she even asked my name. She then randomly asked help regarding the currency we use.
I was surprised about this and then I realized, she wanted to pay for the things she took from the stalls which honestly made me smile. She doesn't want to be branded as a thief, it seems.
I patiently taught her about element coins which she learned to make quite quickly. I just hope that she doesn't get angry at me once she finds out that I am actually la full-grown man. I hope she doesn't find me weird or worse, perverted with my choice of transformation. Ugh.

The little girl stood up and kept her head down. She was grabbing on to her clothes nervously as she stuttered, "My- My name is-is Li-ly... Lily." She then looked left and right as if looking for other fairies around then she pouted when she found none. She eventually started crying while saying, "They said the sanctuary is under attack so I hid here. Did- Did they- leave me- behind to- to die?" Even louder crying followed those questions.
I smiled at her and responded, "I did not see anybody attacking though? You aren't alone since I am here right?" Her cries turned into small sobs as she calmed down gradually. She ran towards me and clung to my dress.
I rubbed her head a bit and then asked, "This is my first time shopping here. Can you teach me how people pay for things they buy in this market?" She looked up at me with innocent and round eyes and said, "Oh. You are a visitor from the outside. Wait! I'll show you."
Lily ran back inside the store where she was hiding in a while ago. What followed were sounds of things crashing and falling to the ground as she searched for something. After several minutes, she ran out and showed me her hands that were filled with small round orbs of different colors.
She smiled brightly at me and started teaching me about currency in their territory. She energetically explained to me how much each orb is, "These are our element coins! You see, there's red, light blue, dark blue, green, yellow, white and black ones. People make them but my parents say it was really hard to make the first time. You have to either absorb the elemental mana from your surroundings or create them with your own mana attribute. The most valuable one is the black one since it is the hardest to make and is a combination of all types of mana. The least valuable is the light blue one."
I smiled as I listened to her attentively. I played along to her little skit as I responded, "Let me guess the attribute of the element coins, alright? Red surely is for fire. Light blue should be wind and dark blue should be for water. Hmm..." Lily energetically nodded and said, "That's right! Guess the others too!"
I looked up as if I was thinking hard then added, "Green should be like for plants and yellow for earth. White is light and Black is darkness." The girl said, "Hmm... You were right about all of those but we don't say that the black one is for darkness. It sounds evil. We call it chaos, everything begins from it and ends with it." I nodded my head in understanding.
I thanked Lily and started walking towards the middle of the market. She followed along from behind me and I can feel her eyes drilling on my back as if she is wondering what I will do next. I can feel how alert she, well HE was, ready for any attack that may come his way.
Once I reached the center of the plaza, I sat on the ground in the most unlady-like mana and brought out all the things I took from the stalls. I saw Lily's jaw drop at the number of items I took with me from the trading area. I casted a spell on all the items, giving them simple instructions to go back to the stores where they come from and leave my payments there. After finishing their task, they will then have to come back to where I am. I love magic since it's so convenient!
After the magic was cast, all the items floated a few inches above the ground waiting for me to give them the payment that they needed to deliver. Since I can't ask the missing stall owners about the price of each of these items, I simply closed my eyes and created 17 element coins of chaos. I can easily make any of the coins but since I can control all attributes freely and chaos is the dominant and unique attribute of my family, I decided to use it. At least with black element coins, I am sure my payments would cover whatever price each item has.
I clearly heard Lily gasp and when I looked at her, I can clearly see from where I was sitting that her body has started to shiver. I knew that this man, whoever he may be, was sent by the leader to confirm if I was really someone from Eieneos. What better way to prove it than showing how easily I can use chaos-type mana. I get to pay for my shopping purchases too so this is just a total win-win for me.
I ignored how peculiar Lily's reactions are and continued making the coins with my eyes closed. When I opened my eyes after a few minutes, 17 identical element coins have been successfully created. Each of the floating items took one and hurriedly flew back to the central trading area. Through my senses, I saw the items enter the stalls and drop the coins inside what looked like sales boxes hidden inside the stores. Once done with their delivery, the items flew back to where I am in a hurry.
I opened the palm of my left hand as the items landed one by one on my hand and disappeared. They were sent straight to my shared storage with Laerad. It only took less than 10 minutes for all the items to complete their assigned tasks and be sent to the new world tree realm.
I stood up from the ground, removed the dust and leaves that clung on to my dress then turned around to face Lily. As I looked at her face, she was still looked absentmindedly towards the trading area. I called her name and smiled at her again and said, "Now, are you going to send me over to meet your leader now, Mr. Fairy Guard also known as Lily?"
Lily's eyes widened and then she looked down and started giggling. As she did so, her real form fades, the giggles turned into modulated laughter and out came a tall, toned and good looking man who should pass as a human in his mid-20s. He had dark red hair with streaks of yellow and white.
I would have compared him to a phoenix but then I remembered that his real form should be tiny so I was forced to down-sized my imagination a lot and compared him to a Summer Tanager instead. I looked at him up and down and this time, it was my turn to giggle.
He stopped giggling and stared at me with one of his brows raised, "What so funny?" I stared at him and said, "Nothing" then started giggling again. He coughed awkwardly and said, "My nickname is Nastur. My full name is Nasturtium, a red and orange flower."
I replied nonchalantly and said, "Nice to meet the real you. Now bring me to your leader, LILY." He scoffed at me and said, "Again, my name is Nastur. I will bring you to where my father is, right now." Oh! He's like a prince here. That explains the audaciousness to trick guests.
We walked towards the west direction from the center of the market. He said that it will take us about 20-minutes for a leisurely walk. I know he's being petty since we can surely teleport there but he made me walk instead. I already have the idea where to find the leader based from the direction were taking.
This place surprisingly doesn't have large palaces or mansions for the rich nobles or the members of the royal family. They live in the same type of house embedded in the same type of trees as any other citizen. The only thing that sets them apart is that they dress a little more lavishly than the rest of the population.
I walked obediently behind him for a while but kept my silence, not even my footsteps can be heard. He never talked to me again or even tried to look back and just kept moving forward at a lazy pace. About a minute from the time we started walking, I teleported straight to the western most part of the sanctuary to meet the leader.
I got teleported into the middle of a beautiful flower garden. I was greeted by a middle aged couple, a man and woman, both looking like humans who were in their late 50s. They would have passed off as humans if not for the mystique mana their bodies were exuding. I greeted them using mystique language, "Vendui ulu l'ilharn d'darthiir. F'sarn Luna."
(Greetings to the father of fairies. I'm Luna.)
They smiled at me sincerely and introduced themselves, "F'sarn Peony, valuk d'l'darthiir. Nindol zhah ussta 'ranndi, Rosia." (I'm Peony, king of the fairies. This is my wife, Rosia.)
The woman named Rosia greeted me as well, "Sssiring ulu dos, Luna. Usstan aske'th ussta dalharuk, Nastur ulu fezt dos jhal ol kluthak dos doerrus maglusti." (Greetings to you, Luna. I asked my son, Nastur to fetch you but it seems you came alone.) She looked towards the space behind me as if trying to look for any signs of her son nearby.
