Chapter 867: Ancient city
"Which generations did you beat?"
"Don't read my mind, motherfucker…" Rain said. "I beat the first, second and the third… the plots started to get weird from that point onward and the pokemon looked weird as well."
"Oh… you an OG fan, huh?"
Rain experienced a familiar sense of apprehension and hesitancy whenever he contemplated engaging in conversation with the shield. Deep down, he had a persistent feeling that he might regret not severing ties with the relic, especially considering its irksome and annoyin nature.
The shield's propensity to hold back critical information and its motives had often left Rain frustrated and wary of its intentions.
However, despite his reservations and the looming potential for regret, there were moments when Rain found himself drawn to the prospect of interaction with the shield. Each conversation was an opportunity, however small, to get essential insights or uncover hidden truths about the shield's origin, its enigmatic past, or the broader mysteries shrouding its world.
Rain knew that Pokemon was amazing game, but so was Tetris at some point… the fame of such a franchise might last for a while, but Rain found hard to believe that people even after one hundred years would know pokemon… that means that the shield was from that period… from two thousand to 2100s…
Thinking that the world that he knew came to an end at that period was a bit worrisome, but soon Rain realized that he didn't feel that much bad about it… he didn't have a good end at that time. Sure, he died protecting someone, but everything else had been a mess.
Rain's past was painted with a profound sense of betrayal and abandonment. Falsely accused of a crime he did not commit, he faced the unbearable weight of judgment and rejection from those he held dear. This betrayal shattered his trust in people and shattered his belief in the inherent goodness of the world.
In the aftermath of this ordeal, Rain spiraled into a desolate state of mind, consumed by a sense of hopelessness and disillusionment. The profound sense of injustice and isolation left him questioning the very value of existence.
However, with the chance of being reborn into a new life, under different circumstances, Rain gradually discovered a rekindled appreciation for the significance of companionship, trust, and familial bonds.
Through his rebirth, Rain came to realize that the real value of friends and family lay not solely in their existence but in the strength derived from mutual support, camaraderie, and shared experiences.
He found a renewed purpose in forging meaningful connections, not out of necessity but as a conscious decision to take control of his destiny and not let the injustices of the past determine his future.
While Rain was thinking about that, he eventually crossed the massive grasslands and then he found that the terrain was starting to get a bit weird… the whole place was going upward like a hill and the terrain kept going like that for quite a while.
"Is there a crater or something like that ahead?" Rain thought.
Before long, Rain didn't find a crater ahead, but he found a massive depression. It didn't seem natural since it had a geometrical shape… the lines around the place were too straight. Moreover, there was this massive city in the middle of the place.
The colossal city sprawled across the landscape, was an architectural structure that seemed to be an amalgamation of rought land and earth itself. Its massive dimensions stretched far and wide, spanning at least fifty kilometers in both width and length. The cityscape was a multi-layered structure composed entirely of earth, its imposing buildings reaching towering heights of five hundred meters. Your journey continues at My Virtual Library Empire
Upon focusing his gaze upon the immense city, Rain was struck by the enormity of the structures. Each building stood like a behemoth, its massive size dwarfing any other constructions he had seen before. The streets that wound between these colossal edifices were broad and spacious, but were echoing with an eerie silence .
Despite the absence of any signs of life, Rain's attention was drawn to the central point of the city. There, surrounded by the vast emptiness, stood a towering tower that soared high above the rest of the structures. It loomed over the deserted streets, a solitary sentinel rising majestically into the sky.
Encircling this central tower, Rain noticed a series of monumental statues. These were no ordinary statues; they were colossal dragon golems, or at least it looked like that was the case…
"... Is that truly just statues?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows.
"No, they are dragon golems which are sleeping, they will wake up as soon as you get closer. I see what this place is…"
"A base like the sea dragons base… they must be guarding a relic like you there, right?" Rain asked.
"Indeed… and you know what we should do."
"Yes… Nigurendayo!" Rain turned around and then used Impulse.
"I hate the fact that I knew that you would do this… if I remember right, the guy who had good earth skills was someone who used gloves, his relic certainly would help you or your family punching maniacs."
"I am not listening," Rain said while he was still running. "I am not the type of person who would just go out there make terrible decisions, complain about them cry about them out loud and then continue to make them and not change anything and claim myself to be a fantastic, very level-headed individual."
"You are something else, are you actually solving any problems or just ignoring them?"
Rain hated to admit that the fucking shield had a fucking point…avoiding troublesome situations to avoid trouble that he couldn't imagine was a double edged sword… a sword can be dangerous, but it can also help you protect yourself and the others. Everything was about how you handle something… a weapon can't be evil, only the person who wields it can be evil.
"I am not going to reveal myself to them when I didn't learn anything about them," Rain said. "Besides, I know that the dragons are guarding those relics because they see you as a threat. I am not going to open that Pandora's box."
