Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 866: Like pocket monsters

Rain found himself walking a tightrope of many risks as he explored the territory of the dragons' domain. Despite the obvious dangers and the potential threat of discovery, he pressed on, utilizing the Water Mirror Technique to survey the surroundings while concealing his presence as much as possible.

The Water Mirror Technique served as his safeguard, enveloping him in an illusion that mimicked his surroundings, rendering him nearly invisible to onlookers. It was a calculated risk, he didn't have any other option anyway.

Then, amidst the boredom of the landscape, Rain's sharp gaze caught a sight that sent a jolt of adrenaline through him—a massive ice dragon soaring majestically toward the mountains in the distance. Despite the creature's formidable size and keen senses, it flew past without sensing Rain's presence.

It was a moment of relief for Rain—his calculated risk and reliance on the Water Mirror Technique paid off. The dragon's passage without noticing him bolstered his confidence in the effectiveness of his concealment technique.

"I should have known since it worked for grandpa and grandma…" Rain thought. "I worry too much, where is the worrywart path?"

Though the risks remained high and the stakes even higher, Rain's ability to evade the ice dragon's eyes served as a testament to his resourcefulness and adaptability in navigating the perilous landscape of the dragons' realm.

The dragons have been on the attack for one hundred years, so their senses should have dulled a bit. In any case, Rain began to advance with more confidence in that territory.

"Hehe, not bad… I have never been here before, but I was right in sticking around you,"

"As if you had any choice in the matter," Rain said. "Just shut up and don't test me."

"Why not, your patience skills certainly will level up at that rate. I can speak as much as I want, you gain a huge deal of power, it is a win win."

Rain wanted to facepalm, he truly hated guys like the shield… he could easily imagine that he was the type of guy who would get on everyone's nerves by acting like he was being friendly, when he was only a pain in the ass.

Regardless, Rain decided to ignore that moron and focus on the task ahead. Since returning would take a lot of time just like reuniting with everyone, Rain didn't hesitate in using Impulse, but he didn't use magic, he only kicked the ground enough that he couldn't leave any traces of it. Much to Rain's surprise, his steps could cross a distance of one hundred meters without leaving traces behind.

"That should be thanks to my Dexterity… even though that parameter is the second lowest," Rain thought. "I didn't pay much attention to it, but perhaps I should test its limits and effectiveness."

Rain's combat strategy revolved around a fusion of physical strength and magical prowess, a combination that he honed and refined over time. He favored a balanced approach, leveraging his formidable physical abilities alongside his mastery of various magical skills in battle.

However, Rain's inclination towards tactical maneuvers like counters and strategic combat techniques encountered limitations in the face of adversaries as formidable as the dragons. Their unique abilities and devastating self-destructive skills posed significant challenges, rendering some of Rain's preferred tactics less effective and more risky to execute.

The inherent danger of facing enemies with such destructive capabilities forced Rain to reassess his usual combat tactics.

The forest that Rain appeared in wasn't that big and soon Rain found himself crossing some massive grasslands. At the same time, he also confirmed that the grass there was tall and pretty similar to the one that Rain saw in the layer below that one… it was truly weird.

While Rain was thinking about that, he sensed some danger and when he raised his guard, he felt something biting his feet… even though his boots were a mess, he didn't think that they would be pierced that easily by a giant ant.

"What the fuck… I saw these kinds of ants in the dungeon, but they were a lot smaller," Rain thought. "Are dungeons here as well?"

With a swift, decisive movement, Rain raised his foot high above the insect, channeling his strength into a powerful stomp. The forceful impact echoed through the area, reverberating in the air as Rain's foot connected with the giant ant. A resounding crack filled the space as the immense pressure from Rain's stomp collided with the ant's exoskeleton.

The ground beneath trembled as the force of the blow sent shockwaves through the earth.

The giant red ant crumpled under the overwhelming force, its once imposing stature reduced to a broken and defeated form. A splatter of viscous fluid and fragmented exoskeleton scattered around Rain's boot as the ant laid motionless.

Rain wondered if he should hide the creature… the grass could probably hide it, but the smell of blood could spread. Rain didn't know the environment enough to tell if they had predators, so Rain dug a hole with his hands and then buried the ant.

As he crossed the grasslands, Rain met a bunch of those creatures and it was hard to avoid them since the tall grass got in the way.

"If this were pokemon, they would be like Pidgeys…" Rain thought.
