Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 601: Dragons, dragons everywhere

As Rain recounted the various milestones and charming moments of his children, Isa's genuine interest and attentiveness put him at ease. It was a heartwarming experience for him, as it felt like he had found a listening ear and an empathetic presence in her. The bond between them grew stronger, and Rain appreciated her willingness to engage in conversations that held personal significance to him.

"I can see the type of person you are now," Isa said when the sun was rising. "I am worried about the future of your children if you keep spoiling them that much. I hope that your wives have more of it together than you."

"I guess they are," Rain shrugged.

"I am going to teach you the foundations of the magic that we began to develop three thousand years ago. I don't think you will be able to make as nearly as much progress as we did, but you can use that to protect your family and friends," Isa said.

"In the middle of the day?" Rain asked.

"No one is listening to us right now, so it is fine," Isa said. "As you are aware, the dragons are the strongest species in the world. They have their endless potential, experience and longevity to thank for that, but the more they live, the more arrogant they become and they also become more corrupt, although that can become a new source of strength for them, it can also become their downfall."

Isa began to explain to him the fascinating history of how dragons had become such formidable and lasting creatures. She described that in their early stages, dragons were inherently strong, but their arrogance often led to their downfall. They rarely lived long enough to become significantly more powerful because they failed to learn and adapt from their battles.

However, as dragons evolved and matured, they began to acquire wisdom and a more strategic approach to life. With age came not only greater physical strength but also a deeper understanding of the world around them. Around the age of five hundred years old, they reached a significant turning point in their development.

This milestone marked the time when a dragon could undergo its first evolution and embark on the path of an elder dragon. The elder dragon's path allowed them to unlock their full potential, transforming them into even more formidable and intelligent beings.

"They can only evolve the dragon's path after five hundred years?" Rain asked while frowning. "I was able to pull that off when I became twenty."

"I never heard of anyone in history that was able to do that as fast as you, your hard work is commendable," Isa said while showing a bit of surprise. "Still, they are creatures that their sense of time is complicated. They don't live with the same sense of urgency as other species. Five hundred years for them is like a human of fifteen years of age. "

That didn't make much sense… Why would someone be called an elder when they were fifteen? Regardless, Isa explained that thanks to their intense desires, the dragons take that much time at least to reach that stage of power.

Isa went on to explain that, in spite of their lineage as dragons, they usually began their existence as one of the elemental types: Earth dragons, water dragons, wind dragons, or fire dragons. These elemental affiliations shaped their inherent traits and abilities.

Water dragons, in particular, held a special place in the dragon hierarchy. When they reached a certain stage of evolution, water dragons transformed into a distinct class known as sea dragons. Isa clarified that these sea dragons were closely associated with the sin of sloth.

Their evolution brought forth not only a physical transformation but also a deep connection to the seas and oceans, aligning them with the realm of the water and enhancing their aquatic prowess

"How come?" Rain asked while frowning.

"Such corrupt desires, shall we say, affect dragons a lot," Isa explained. " They also drew power from such characteristics. When a water dragon becomes prideful of their skills, they turned into ice dragons after their paths evolve."

"Their lineage doesn't affect that?" Rain asked.

"Their parents can influence their initial abilities, but sometimes two dragons of different attributes have children that have different elements," Isa explained. "It doesn't matter that much since they are raised away from their parents to become as strong as possible. You only found until now earth dragons, wind dragons, water dragons, fire dragons, ice dragons and sea dragons, right?

As expected, the others are still like that…"

Isa looked like she was recalling the past when she lived among the dragons. Speaking of which, she didn't say anything about how demi-human dragons live… but since she can transform, they can probably do the same as take the form and size of ordinary dragons. They still should be weaker than the others, though. In any case, the results were quite interesting.
