Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1367: Karma

"Are you sure about that, Dad?" Sealyn asked while studying Rain.

"I am fine with it, and the question is if you are really fine with it, or maybe not…" Rain said.

"I am not. I want to fight," Sealyn said. "Don't want anyone treating me like a weakling just because I have a baby growing inside me."

"No one is; we just want to make sure that we won't see a disaster happening," Rain said.

In the end, Sealyn passed her spear, armor, and shield to Seadrei… while he was much taller than her, the former sea emperor still equipped the relics without any issues. Sealyn also activated a total seal on him to give him all of her strength, skills, and techniques.

"You should try to get used to her power as soon as possible. Getting used in the middle of the fight might be troublesome, after all," Rain said. "We only have a couple of days left before the next mission, so use that time wisely."

"I would need someone to spar to speed that up, and you might be up to the task. What do you think?" Seadrei asked.

"I have better things to do, sorry," Rain said. "Besides, we don't want to cause so much destruction that the machine gods might find us here."

Seadrei's disappointment was palpable, as he had hoped for the opportunity to spar with Rain. It had been quite some time since their last encounter in combat, and Seadrei saw this as a valuable chance to gauge Rain's current strength and prowess.

Despite understanding Rain's reluctance to engage in unnecessary combat, especially considering the looming threat posed by the machine gods, Seadrei couldn't help but feel a bit of regret at the missed opportunity.

Indeed, sparring with Rain, even if it were just for practice purposes and without either of them going all out, would have provided valuable insights into Rain's abilities and combat style. As no one had witnessed Rain's recent battle with Loar, there was a sense of curiosity and anticipation surrounding Rain's true capabilities.

Seadrei, in particular, harbored a keen interest in understanding just how much stronger Rain had become.

In the end, the group decided to start the next mission in three days… so Rain had a limited amount of time. He waited until the night before he had the chance to return to the surface while using his domain, water mirror technique, and light touch to completely erase his presence.

Soon enough, he began to look for the survivors of the magic people using Remote Viewing… but that was proving to be more difficult than he had expected.

The skill Remote Viewing leveled up.

The skill Remote Viewing leveled up.

The skill Remote Viewing leveled up.

The Esper path leveled up.

Level 30: ESP Amplification Amplify the range and intensity of your ESP abilities, extending their reach and effectiveness. Increases the effectiveness of the skills of the esper path by ten percent per level.

Rain nodded to himself in satisfaction. As soon as he equipped that new skill, Remote Viewing improved and got better as it leveled up.

In the end, Rain didn't find the magic people in that vast ocean where they waged war agaisnt Esmeralda's group for over fifty years… since the area was no longer frozen, they returned to their former territory and began to rebuild their society around a port town that they just had finished building.

As Rain observed the magic people living peacefully and rebuilding their society around the newly constructed port town, he couldn't help but feel conflicted. On one hand, their newfound tranquility and efforts to establish a stable community were commendable.

The absence of armed individuals and the focus on agriculture and infrastructure development suggested a genuine desire for peace and prosperity.

However, Rain's previous decision and the looming threat posed by the machine gods weighed heavily on his mind. He recognized the potential of the magic people to regain their strength and potentially become pawns of the machine gods or other adversaries.

Despite the moral dilemma of disrupting their peaceful existence, Rain understood the necessity of taking preemptive action to ensure the safety and security of his allies and the realms they sought to protect.

Rain made the decision to intervene and capture a group of magic people, particularly the stronger individuals, using holes in the ground that connected to his pocket dimension.

Level 15: Spatial Distortion - Deepen your understanding of spatial manipulation with Spatial Distortion, allowing you to bend and warp the fabric of space itself. This skill grants you the ability to create localized distortions, altering the geometry of the environment to your advantage.

"Well, I already knew that this skill was pretty useful…" Rain said when he saw the magic people appearing in front of him. "Well then… let's have a nice and long talk."

Although no one of them recognized Rain, they still could tell that Rain was the one who captured them, so they immediately tried to attack him… after being shocked a few times, they began to behave and soon revealed the information that Rain wanted to hear.

It seemed that over one hundred years, they were led by that guy who killed the former leader of the magic council… Rain forgot about his name, but he knew that he was the son of someone who had become an ally in the battle against the previous human king… apparently, the new guy, after realizing that the dragons were no longer around and since Esmeralda's group vanished, wanted to target the demi-humans and their territory… but his underlings got tired of his shit and killed him when he insisted on that.

"Karma is really a bitch, huh?" Rain thought.

It seemed that the magic people truly wanted to live in peace after one hundred years of living on a warship. That made sense. However, their peace won't last for long if the machine gods win…

"All right, here are your options," Rain said.
