Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1355: Watched

The mana cannon of that world wasn't equipped to fire multiple and weaker shots… maybe it would overheat or something, so it was only used two more times and destroyed some debris before the meteorite rain fell on the enemy's base.

Just like the others, the place was like a city of metal. Everything was white or silver in tone, but soon, all that began to change when the meteors began to fall and crush everything.

As the meteors rained down upon the enemy base, the sound of impacts reverberated through the air, creating a melody of destruction. Buildings were smashed to rubble, and the ground beneath them cracked and sank under the force of the impacts. In the areas surrounding the base, plumes of dust billowed into the air, obscuring visibility and adding to the chaos.

However, within the confines of the base itself, there was an eerie absence of dust despite the devastation wrought by the meteor shower. Instead, fragments of the shattered meteors began to litter the area, creating a hazardous terrain for any who wanted to cross it.

Amidst the wreckage, figures emerged from the buildings, towering humanoid creatures with half of their bodies composed of gleaming metal and the other half emitting an ominous, dark blue glow.

These beings, reminiscent of the first dragons, moved with purpose as they set about attacking the meteor fragments and clearing away the debris; armed with a pair of swords made of raw mana, they easily began to clear up the area.

"The sentinels, huh…" Rain thought when he was about to land. "We will lose some more manpower… When this mission is over, I will have to take a break to complete that technique. No other choice."

Rain jumped from the fragment of his meteor and avoided the impact before landing. At the same time, groups of thousands of warriors began to appear around him… it didn't take long for the giant android sentinels to take notice of them. Still, they were unable to do anything since Rain immediately appeared above them and sliced their heads with the ominous swords.

When a bunch of the enemies jumped to attack him from all the angles, Rain put his hands together and then used his secret technique… he surrounded himself in a dark sphere of water and then bombarded them with it, smashing their bodies and sending them flying to the distance…

"Draconic Intimidation isn't leveling up… why? I broke its limits already," Rain said.

Elisabetha was too pissed to explain… whenever she saw anything that slightly resembled the first dragons, she always turned like that. Sakaki couldn't explain anything either since Rain tossed him to Seara as soon as she appeared.

"... Maybe all the skills of the Dragon Slayer path need to reach the max level before they can evolve further," Rain thought and then sighed.

If that was the case, then it couldn't be helped… that path was very out of the norm in the first place, so Rain didn't let that bother him. Since Rain was supposed to look for the next relic soon enough, he decided to cause as much damage as possible before all of his allies assembled there, so he kept using the same strategy.

Level 25: Dragon's Bane Weaponry - Craft or wield specialized weapons infused with materials that enhance damage against dragons. Each level increases the efficiency of those weapons by ten percent. When using dragon-based materials, the attack increases by twenty percent per level.

"Iori, after finishing bringing everyone to outside, store some of the bodies of the enemies," Rain declared via Telepathy. "We might need some use for them."

"As if they don't have enough problems in a confined and small space… you want to add corpses there as well?" Iori asked.

"It is better to be a bit uncomfortable than dead," Rain said.

Before long, all of the warriors had been unleashed on the battlefield, and thanks to the rain of meteors, the enemies didn't have the chance to regroup and organize their forces. The warriors began to destroy them with quite ease… but they couldn't relax yet since the enemies could teleport reinforcements toward them.

"Five minutes to perhaps realize what is happening here, and five minutes to charge any mana cannon that they can have," Rain thought as he jumped and then began to dig the base like a dark vortex again. "In the worst-case scenario, we will have twenty more minutes for their next attack to reach us… so we have half an hour to find the relic."

Sakaki wasn't going to help Rain this time, and this was based on their assumption regarding the potential knowledge of the relics. The group assumed that once the relics were awakened, they would be able to access the memories contained within them using Psychometry.

Given that these relics had been in existence for thousands of years, they anticipated that the memories stored within would span vast periods of time, potentially offering valuable insights into the history and strategies of their adversaries.

In light of this assumption, the group reasoned that it would be more beneficial for Sakaki to focus his efforts on the battlefield rather than helping Rain. By dedicating his skills and abilities to the immediate challenges of combat, Sakaki could contribute to the group's success in real-time engagements, helping to overcome obstacles and secure strategic advantages as they arose.

Before long, Rain reached the foundation of the base, and he frowned when he found another copy of the command center… in the middle of it, he also found a crossbow… it stood out like a sore thumb since it was surrounded by system screens of the surroundings. Still, when Rain went to grab it… the weapon vanished…
