Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1051: Limits Broken

When Reca finished harnessing all of her mana and stamina, the domain was dispersed since her attack had way more energy than Rain was using to keep the domain and then she threw her spear toward the tower. The guards there didn't even have time to react… the spear flew so fast that not even Rain was able to see it. He only saw the final result.

The spear hit the base of the tower, which was fifty meters wide and long and three hundred meters tall, and completely blew away the base. At the same time, the tower began to fall toward the group, but they began to use Impulse to cross the area as the guards jumped from the falling structure.

Before long, Reca recovered her weapon and then sighed… the weapon had lost all of its edge, and the tip was pretty much gone… even though it was a weapon made of ice dragon parts, it was only natural that such a level of attack.

"Awesome, right?" Reca asked. "I call that: Gae Bolg."

"... Explain yourself, Nigel," Rain said.

"Why do you think that I am involved in this?" Nigel asked.

"Am I wrong?" Rain asked.

"Don't you get angry when someone answers questions with questions?" Nigel asked.

"I see, you have chosen death," Rain said. "When we return, I will let you choose between a quick death and several months in insolation in a box filled with manure."

In any case, they didn't have time to worry about that kind of nonsense… the barriers of the towers had been canceled, and now hundreds of the mechanical guards were flying toward them. Even their backpacks could be used as jetpacks. Their speed was no laughing matter, either…

"Don't destroy their backpacks," Vanessa declared. "I can take their mana and share among all of us if you keep them on the same place."

That was what they needed… to destroy the cannon. They probably will have to attack a bunch of times. Using the enemy's strength to accomplish that will come in handy. In any case, they managed to avoid fights until they reached the cannon, but then the enemies began to throw their mana spears at them.

Rain raised his guard to block the attack, but Vanessa left his back and then quickly moved to block all the attacks. The impacts made the dark scepter tremble all over, but the group soon felt their bodies being revitalized with mana.

"Attack at will," Rain said.

Rain, Terra and Jori stopped moving and turned around as Reca, Asche and Liss began to charge their best attacks to hit the cannon. At the same time, Sakaki moved from Rain's back as well and then pierced the cannon, not enough to actually cause any damage, but to affect it with his lightning magic. That wasn't part of the plan, but Rain had other things to do.

Among those three, Rain had the weakest magic readings, so the guards targeted him… a bunch of them. He lowered his stance and opened his hands. When one of the guards tried to smash his head with a shield made of mana, Rain waited until the last minute before hitting it with a dual palm strike.

The attack fully stopped the charge of the enemy and made the creature fly away to the distance while spinning violently.

Before the next target could arrive, Rain heard a hissing sound coming from his hands, and he saw that the skin that been peeled on the parts that he had hit the enemy… the dense concentration of mana burned all the skin in a fraction of a second.

"This is going to hurt…" Rain thought.

Jori would be fine… Reca could heal herself insanely fast as well, so Rain was going to be the one in a bind… while using magic to cover his hands was an option, he decided not to do that and make the enemies keep coming at him.

The first few enemies that attacked Rain had thrown their spears at him, and they didn't have time to summon others, or perhaps those weapons required insane amounts of mana to materialize. Either way, the ones armed with spears eventually reached him, and they aimed to impale him first and before anything.

Two guards approached Rain to impale him at once, but he didn't do anything, he just waited until the last minute before making his move. In the end, Rain disappeared from their sight for a moment using his toes trick… when he reappeared, he was punching the stomach of the enemies. His attacks pushed them away for several meters, but Rain broke his fingers thanks to it.

"I should have known…" Rain thought.

Rain's attempt to pierce the armor of the guards using his fingers turned out to be less effective than he anticipated. The armor's defensive capabilities proved to be formidable, and as Rain executed the attack, his fingers showed the brunt of the impact. The result was broken fingers, a consequence of underestimating the resilience of the enemy's armor.

Despite the pain and temporary setback, Rain couldn't afford to dwell on his injuries. The battlefield around him was chaotic, with Terra's dynamic combat style sending guards flying through the air by hitting them with one of their friends like a tornado, and Jori's powerful blades of energy severing limbs with each swing of his sword.

As the guards regrouped for another assault, Rain focused on optimizing his approach. He couldn't afford to experiment further in the heat of battle. Instead, he had to rely on his proven techniques, blending his magical abilities with his physical prowess. Time was of the essence, after all…

After taking a deep breath… Rain's aura changed… his body turned red and his muscles bulged. Steam began to leave his pores at an insane rate. That was the power of a Limit Breaker without a max level. That wasn't all… Rain's aura began to turn blue as cracks of lightning bolts of the same tone surrounded him… that was the power of Magic Boost.
