Chapter 371: The Pits of Tartarus
Just a glare.
Just a single, casual glare was all it took for God to render Fangalore powerless.
He fell to his knees, primordial fear etched across his face. And from the depths of his soul and core being, screams burst his eardrums, begging him to flee for his life. To run away. To never again look back.
But it had been too late.
With a wave of his hand, the light-shrouded Heavenly Progenitor erased Fangalore from reality. His Divine Spark, which had been tirelessly forged and cultivated to perfection, meant nothing in the face of absolute power, and within an instant, it shattered and vanished.
A being nearing the very pinnacle of the Ascension Tower—dead in the blink of an eye.
And all without the transcendental Heavenly Progenitor leaving his throne of blinding light…
The Werewolves sitting around the pit of fire had never personally witnessed the power of God; not many had. But from just the stories passed down since the beginning of Time—since the birth of the Wolf Progenitor—they had a good grasp on just the sort of incomprehensible entity God was.
And more often than not, the more incomprehensible they were, the more unpredictable they were. This was why the Werewolf powerhouses of the 6th Wolfdom Floor were so uncertain about how the Heavenly Progenitor would deal with the newest upstart.
"Regardless," said Introl, snapping everyone out of their reveries. "We know without a doubt that someone with a temperament like his will be back to finish what he started sooner or later. And when he does eventually ascend to this Floor, we'll be ready for him. We'll be ready to avenge the Clans that fell to him. To avenge our very own Clansmen that were mercilessly slaughtered in the millions."
Although a number of them weren't on friendly terms with the rather intelligent Introl, they felt his words made the most sense. Furthermore, they too were incensed by the cruelty of the Prodigal Conqueror.
He deserved to pay!
He had to die!!
— Some time later, within the 6th Arch of the Heavenly Kingdom, deep in the endless sea of sky and Floating Islands, in a location that not many even knew about, let alone visited —
HOOOORAAAAHH!!
"Kill him, Rocksmasher!!!"
"Murder the bastard….!!!"
Uproarious cheers and mindless shouts reverberated, the voices of millions bouncing off the hellish walls of an arena that stretched in all directions for miles on end. Zipping around the fighting section of the Arena were two figures—an Angel and a Demon—exchanging blows at ludicrously fast speeds.
"I'll vanquish you, Demon!!"
"Oh yeah!? While you do that, I'll go and vanquish the sexual urges of your mother, haha!!"
"YOU!!"
SHA! SHA! SHA!
Both the Angel and Demon were of the Peak Transcendent Rank, with the former having eight wings, while the latter had eight different-sized pairs of obsidian horns. Clearly, they were both of Noble Bloodline Lineage.
Yet, even with their extremely high statuses, they still chose to battle like barbarians under the eyes of countless members from both races.
Why would they, though…?
The Pits of Tartarus Arena.
It was one of the—if not the only—places where Angels and Demons congregated that didn't wind up with everyone senselessly slaughtering one another. It was the most famous Battling Arena of both Realms and was located halfway into the depths of the Heavenly Kingdom, as well as halfway into the depths of HELL.
In a way, the Pits of Tartarus was the secret 9th Dimension—a minor isolated space that permanently connected the two polar-opposite Dimensions.
Of course, even if this place may be a type of Neutral Ground for the two Races, that was only because they were gathered for a singular purpose.
One that still ended up in bloodshed…
SHING!
A parry!
CRACKA—BOOOOOM!
A hand-beam of ultimate proportions!
"!!!" 'NOOoooo!!!'
Before the Angel could move out of the way of the close-range hand-beam attack, explosive energies engulfed his vision. They burnt him to a crisp, with the residual energy from the hand-beam melting a wide chasm through the middle of the Arena of Tartarus.
The Arena went silent…
HOOOORAAAAHH!
Then it erupted with cheers, shaking the entire place.
Meanwhile, high up in the stands, several cloaked figures could be seen watching the conclusion of the fight with pensive expressions. One in particular—a tall man of remarkable appearance—caught a trace of intrigue in his devilish gaze.
"So this is the Pits of Tartarus," he mused, a fire inside him sparking to life. "But what I don't understand is why you need to marry me for the sake of this place. The two who just fought to the death look to be among the strongest, but I believe they're no match for you."
'She never got around to explaining the details when I glimpsed into the future with Shadow's Foresight.'
Unaware of Cassius's inner musings, Exisia's face contorted weirdly, seemingly struggling over something.
"You're right. Among the Angels and Demons, I am strong. Very strong. But… not the strongest."
Cassius's brows arched, his interest surging.
Continuing from where she left off, Exisia said, "There are those more formidable than I. And… one among them wants something from the one before you."
"What is it?"
Exisia averted her eyes, her pupils erratically flickering.
"It's me. That's what this person wants."
"Ho?" Cassius smiled. "So that's why you proposed marriage the way you did. You don't want to involve yourself with this person, and you hope that by engaging yourself to me, they'll back off and leave you alone."
Exisia nodded, her mind beside her.
After a moment of silence, her big round shimmering eyes turned up to Cassius. She inched a little closer to him, her hot breath but a mere whisper.
"Ca… Can you help me… by marrying me…?"
Cassius chuckled, revealing his pearly-white k-9 teeth.
Exisia was confused until he leaned forward, getting within breathing distance of her face.
"I'm afraid I can't help you with that, pretty young miss. But what say I do you one better!? I'll fight this person and anyone backing them! Then you'll return the favor by using your methods to search all of the 6th Floor of Heaven for the one I wish to find!"
Silence…
