Chapter 7: Chapter 6
Chapter 6
A few minutes later, the classroom door creaked open, and a slim, weary-looking man with round glasses shuffled in.
"Yawn. Hello, students. Name's Sarutobi Inochi. I'm your homeroom teacher, and welcome to the academy," he said with another yawn. "Now, I'm sure some of you from the clans have already been taught how to use chakra and maybe even some Ninjutsu at home... yawn... but here at the academy, we'll focus on chakra control and its applications."
The teacher, Sarutobi Inochi, sounded like he was fighting to stay awake.
The students in the classroom exchanged curious glances as their teacher barely managed to suppress another yawn.
Inochi adjusted his glasses, looking out over the class, though his gaze seemed distant. "Now, I'm not one to sugarcoat things," he continued, his voice growing more strained, "but learning chakra control is no joke. It takes discipline, focus, and a lot of practice. You won't get far if you rely solely on your family's techniques or think you can just power through everything. Yawn."
He stopped for a moment, blinking rapidly, clearly fighting against the constant drowsiness pulling at him. The students began to feel a mix of amusement and confusion—after all, their homeroom teacher was yawning every few seconds, making it hard to take him seriously.
Inochi caught a student staring at him and sighed. "Yes, I know, I'm not exactly the most energetic teacher, but we'll get through it. Eventually." He yawned once more, louder this time.
Some of the students shifted in their seats, wondering how they were supposed to learn from someone who seemed so sleep-deprived. It was clear this wasn't going to be a typical first day at the academy.
Inochi finally seemed to gather himself, standing up straighter as he forced his eyes to stay open. "Alright," he said, attempting to sound more authoritative despite his fatigue. "Let's get to business. First, we're going to go over the basics of chakra control. Some of you may already know the theory—chakra is the energy that flows through your body, combining physical and spiritual energy. But knowing about chakra is different from actually using it."
He yawned again, this time stifling it with a hand. "Sorry, sorry. Anyway… the key to controlling chakra is concentration. Without it, your chakra can go wild and cause all sorts of problems. Like, uh, failing to perform basic ninjutsu or accidentally blowing up a tree," he said.
"You'll also learn other basic subjects and train to coordinate and work together as a team. You'll be given individual and group assignments. Make sure to complete the assignments. Don't make me go out of my way to get you, you will not like it. Yawn."
Inochi-sensei yawned again.
"That finishes my introduction. Why don't you all introduce yourselves to the class. Each of you will stand when it's your turn and tell us your name and your dreams, likes, and dislikes. Let's start from the back."
Kuro saw that Inochi-sensei was looking at him. He took a deep breath and stood up.
"My name is Kuro Nara. I don't have any particular hobbies. My dream is to laze around and do nothing if possible. I dislike maniacs who break into my home and punch the living daylight out of me." Kuro said as he turned his head to a certain dark brown hair, crimson-colored eyes and light-colored girl. "That will be it."
The teacher just smiles, ignoring Kuro's obvious attempt to rile up a certain someone in the classroom. "Alright, next."
The introduction went on with each student introducing themselves. It was finally Kurenai's turn to introduce herself.
"Hello everyone, my name is Kurenai Yuhi and my dream is to master the art of Genjutsus. I like ramen and I dislike perverts." Kurenai finished her intro. Although she doesn't make it obvious, Kuro has a hunch that the 'pervert' was him.
After everyone finished, Inochi-sensei spoke. "Now that the introductions are done I'll hand out the curriculum for this year. The text books for the year will be provided in the next class. Class dismiss after you receive your copy of the curriculum." Inochi-sensei pass out the curriculum and leave while yawning the entire time.
Kuro looked over the curriculum that Inochi-sensei just handed out. It was composed of reading and writing, mathematics, science, geography, history, chakra theory and physical training. A total of 7 subjects.
"With my modern knowledge, reading, writing, mathematics, science, and geography would be a breeze. As for history and chakra theory, I can use what I know about this world. My daily quests will cover physical training but I still need to learn how to strengthen my body using chakra." Kuro holds his chin, thinking.
Just then, he saw Kurenai getting up to leave. A bright light bulb flashes in Kuro's head.
'Shadow Possession Jutsu,' Kuro quietly muttered as his shadow extended toward a boy. Since they were indoor, it made it difficult for these untrained kids to see the moving shadow.
As Kurenai made her way down the classroom, Kuro stuck his foot out so that the boy could also stick his foot out.
The boy's foot came out at the right time that Kurenai couldn't reach and tripped.
BAM!
Kurenai fell forward and rolled down the stairs before slamming face first on the floor.
Kuro immediately retracted his shadow.
The boy, now free to move, immediately got up and ran toward Kurenai in a panic.
"I am sorry! Are you hurt? I don't mean to trip you. My body acted on its own.
Kuro watches as the boy stammers in a frantic apology, rushing over to Kurenai. He feels a wave of satisfaction. 'Serve you right.'
As for the boy, though, tough luck for him.
Kurenai groans, slowly pushing herself up from the floor, her face flushed with embarrassment and pain. She shakes her head, clearly trying to recover her composure. "It's… it's okay," she mutters, though her tone suggests she's not entirely convinced of that.
The boy continues to apologize profusely, his hands wringing nervously. "Please! I didn't mean it. I swear! My foot just... it just came out, and I didn't know how—"
"Enough," Kurenai interrupts him, standing up and brushing herself off. She shoots a glance at Kuro, who is trying to look innocent, but his smirk is barely hidden. "I'm fine," she says, glaring at Kuro. If what the boy said was true, a Nara with their Shadow Possession Jutsu is the main culprit.
Not wanting to burst out in front of everyone, Kurenai steamed out of the classroom
Kuro watches Kurenai's retreating figure, her stiff posture and the way she huffs as she exits the room, signaling that she's not exactly thrilled with what just happened.
As the classroom settles into an awkward silence, Kuro turns his attention back to the boy, who's standing there, still nervously fidgeting and glancing at the door where Kurenai disappeared. The boy mutters a quick apology to everyone before he shuffles out of the room, no doubt eager to escape.
'Welp. It seems she suspects me. Gatta keeps an eye out in case she tries retaliating.'
He begins to think about Kurenai's reaction. The suspicion in her eyes was clear, and she definitely wasn't going to let this slide without some form of payback—whether it would come soon or later.
'She'll get me back, alright,' he thinks, 'I just need to make sure I'm ready when she does.'
He decides to keep an eye out for her moves, prepared for whatever response she might have in store. With a small grin tugging at the corner of his mouth, Kuro leans back in his seat, already plotting his next move.
'My revenge is just beginning.' Kuro smiled. He knows it is childish but since there is no entertainment in this world, he has to keep himself entertained one way or another.
