Chapter 31: The Scepter's Beacon & Sokovian Shadows

The glowing schematic of Baron Strucker's HYDRA stronghold, 'The Castle,' shimmered on the main console in Adam's temporary command center. Erik Selvig, looking perpetually rumpled but exhilarated, pointed at a subsection of the underground labs.

"There! That's it!" Erik's voice was a mix of triumph and scientific awe. "The energy signature from the Quantum Resonator is absolutely precise. The true Mind Stone, the source of all those psionic fluctuations, is located here, in what appears to be Strucker's primary experimentation chamber. Deep underground, heavily shielded, but unmistakable."

Adam zoomed in on the designated area, the map highlighting the thick concrete and reinforced steel. "Good work, Erik. You're a rockstar. Or, well, a gemstone tracker. Whatever."

His gaze shifted to Wanda and Pietro, who stood beside him, their expressions a mixture of grim determination and growing confidence. Their recent training and upgrades had made them formidable, but this was their first true covert operation. A snatch-and-grab under the nose of a HYDRA baron still reeling from the fall of Project Insight.

"Alright, team," Adam began, his voice calm and authoritative, "this isn't a Helicarrier smash-and-grab. This is surgical. Wanda, your 'Mind Veil' and subtle influence will be our primary infiltration method. Pietro, your 'Phantom Steps' and speed will be our primary exfiltration and diversion. We need that Scepter. Intact. Without leaving a trace, if possible."

Wanda nodded, her eyes tracing the digital blueprints. "The guards... I can influence their perceptions. Make them see what's not there, or not see what is. For a short time. The 'Psionic Focus Amulet' helps with precision."

Pietro grinned, a flash of white teeth. "And if anyone does see us, they'll just see a blur. A really fast blur. And then nothing, because I'll have the Scepter already."

"Exactly," Adam affirmed. "No direct confrontations unless absolutely unavoidable. Our goal is to be ghosts. Or, rather, one Ghost, one Scarlet Witch, and one Quicksilver." He glanced at his own 'Ghost' avatar, who merely gave a silent nod of acknowledgement. 'Ghost' had provided the initial intel and blueprints for the stronghold, information gleaned from the recent SHIELD data dump. It was a goldmine of HYDRA weaknesses.

"The primary security is thermal and motion sensors, with a few pressure plates around the main lab entrance," Adam narrated, pointing them out on the screen. "Wanda, you'll need to cloak our thermal signatures as we move. Pietro, you'll disable or bypass the pressure plates. Ghost will monitor their internal comms and security feeds from here, feeding us real-time updates. Jeremy will be on standby for any external comms or data manipulation if things go sideways."

"What about Strucker himself?" Wanda asked, a flicker of apprehension in her eyes. The man who had experimented on them.

"Strucker is a factor, but he's likely busy scrambling to cover his tracks after the D.C. fiasco," Adam mused. "He'll have enhanced security, but his focus won't be on a stealth infiltration, it'll be on defending against a full-scale assault. We're going in through the ventilation shafts, using a blind spot 'Ghost' identified."

He pulled up a 3D rendering of the ventilation system, a complex maze of ducts and narrow passages. "Tight fit for most. But Wanda, your enhanced agility should manage. Pietro, you'll be a blur. I'll stay here, coordinating. Think of me as the guy in the chair, just with a Guild System that can do more than just make cool gadgets."

He checked his GP. A few more tools might be useful, just for peace of mind.

"Wanda, an Infrasound Scrambler. For any auditory alarms, or to disorient guards without direct contact. Pietro, Micro-EMP Grenades. Small, precise, short-range. For any electronics that resist your speed-trick. Just in case."

He was cutting it close on GP, but this mission was too important to skimp. The Scepter represented Ultron, and if Ultron happened, the world would be in serious trouble. He had to stop that before it started. Or, at the very least, make sure he had the shiny blue glowy stick first.

"Alright, let's move out," Adam declared. "Sokovia awaits. And a certain Baron is about to have a very bad day."
