Chapter 30: Tracking the Gem & The Twins' Future

The brief respite after the Project Insight takedown was over. Adam now had a new, terrifying priority: Loki's Scepter, and the Mind Stone within it. It was currently with Baron Strucker in Sokovia, powering his experiments. And soon, very soon, it would fall into Tony Stark's hands, leading directly to Ultron. Adam had to intercept.

"Erik," Adam began, opening a direct comm link to Selvig, who was already surrounded by new monitors and calculations. "Your mission: track the true Mind Stone. I need its precise location. Focus on that unique psionic signature you identified. Every flicker, every surge. This is paramount. Our future depends on it."

[New Mission Created: 'Gemstone Locator: Mind Stone'] [Objective: Utilize advanced energy signature analysis to precisely pinpoint the current location of the true Mind Stone (Loki's Scepter). Provide real-time tracking. Avoid direct interaction.] [Reward: High GP based on accuracy and speed. Adam's cut: 55%.] [Assign to: Erik Selvig? Y/N]

Adam assigned the mission immediately, and also allocated additional GP for Erik's research.

"A Quantum Resonator, Erik," Adam explained. "Should help you narrow down those energy readings. We need to know exactly where that Scepter is at all times. This is our window to get it before Stark does."

Selvig, already absorbed in the new tech, simply grunted in acknowledgement, a sign of his deep focus.

Next, Adam turned his attention back to Wanda and Pietro. Their training had to intensify even further, not just for combat, but for subtlety. He needed them to be surgical.

"Wanda, Pietro," Adam said, opening their comm channel. "Great job with the Helicarriers. Now, we move to the next phase. That power Erik was talking about, the 'true' Mind Stone? It's still in Sokovia, with Strucker. It's too dangerous to leave there. And we need to get it."

Wanda's eyes narrowed. "The one they experimented with? The one Strucker used?"

"Precisely," Adam confirmed. "But this isn't a frontal assault. This is a stealth extraction. Your powers are crucial for this. Wanda, your psionic abilities can disrupt security, bypass physical barriers, even briefly cloud the minds of guards. Pietro, your speed will get you in and out before anyone knows what happened."

He looked at his Guild Master Store. He had to invest heavily in their capabilities for this specific, delicate mission.

"Pietro, 'Phantom Steps' – further enhances your stealth, allows you to move silently even at super-speed. And a new Covert Ops Kit. We're going to plan this meticulously. We need to be in and out before anyone raises an alarm. No heroic confrontations, just a clean snatch-and-grab."

"Understood, Adam," Wanda said, her gaze firm. Pietro, for once, didn't race off immediately, instead listening intently, his mind already formulating strategies for using his enhanced stealth.

Adam knew this would be a tightrope walk. He had to secure the Scepter before Ultron, without alerting the Avengers, and without Strucker knowing who had taken it. The fate of the world, and specifically the creation of Vision, hinged on this delicate dance. The next few weeks would be critical.
