I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 477: Chapter 477 Examinee No. 000

Moses exited Netero's room and walked down the corridor of the high-rise building.

In the end, Netero had agreed to his proposal.

With a sparring partner voluntarily presenting himself, how could the fun-loving old fox possibly turn him down?

This outcome had been well within Moses's expectations.

Besides, the conditions he proposed were not excessive.

In past Hunter Exams, although the Review Committee would sometimes intervene in the examiners' setups and decisions, they mostly respected the examiners' results. Netero had merely gone along with it.

Moses knew that Netero's thoughtful reaction just now was not about whether he should agree to the conditions of granting unrestricted authority.

Rather, he was weighing…whether to agree to Moses's proposal of postponing the fight until after the Hunter Exam.

But he really had no choice.

He couldn't exactly let Moses get injured right before the exam started, could he?

"I wonder if Shizuku will be alright..."

Moses tilted his head and looked at the blue sky and white clouds outside the window.

As an examiner, Menchi had already gone to the test location to wait. Shizuku, noticing that both Moses and Menchi were serving as examiners this year, had decided to sign up as a participant for this year's Hunter Exam.

But it is unknown if she can find the location of the first test location of the Hunter Exam based on the clues.

In fact, while Moses and Menchi knew the location of the first test, they couldn't reveal it to Shizuku. After all, the Hunter Exam was no joke.

"Well, I should start preparing too."

At this moment, Moses was thinking about the content of his test in his mind.

For this year's Hunter Exam, he was responsible for the third phase of the exam.

But he didn't plan to simply wait at the third phase test location for examinees to arrive.

Scoring.

This is the core of the test he prepared.

Two days later.

"Beans, have you finished making the examinee number plates?"

Inside the temporary office set up by the Review Committee, Moses smiled as he looked at Beans, who was busy with various tasks.

In his impression, this hard-working association worker is always swamped with work.

"They're ready."

Beans looked up at Moses and said worriedly, "But Mr. Moses, are you really going to use the 'scoring' method to directly determine the results of the third phase test?"

"Well, it depends on the situation. If the number of examinees who pass the second phase exceeds expectations, I may make adjustments. Don't worry, I have a backup plan."

As Moses spoke, he gave Beans's shiny head a curious glance.

Beans instinctively leaned back with some alertness.

Seeing Beans's reactions, Moses chuckled and asked, "Where is the number plate?"

"I'll get it."

Beans sighed softly, hopping off his stool to retrieve a white, round number plate from a box beside the cabinet.

"Here."

Returning to the desk, he handed the number plate to Moses.

Moses took the number plate, glanced at the black '000' printed on it, and smiled slightly.

The test Moses had designed was one where he, acting as both an examinee and an examiner, would score all the examinees he encountered and determine the third phase results directly.

This special 000 number plate would serve as a clue to his role, and he planned to increase his visibility in other ways as well.

"I'll be taking the number plate with me. See you then."

Moses waved his number plate at Beans, then turned around and strode towards the door.

Beans looked at Moses's back with a worried look on his face.

He wondered if Moses really intended to expedite the process by filtering the candidates directly in the third phase through his scoring system.

"Mr. Moses..."

At this point, Beans called out, "Can you tell me your backup plan?"

"No problem."

Moses looked back at Beans and smiled, "My backup plan is to improvise."

After saying that, Moses opened the door and left, leaving Beans utterly bewildered.

Time flew by.

January 7th, Zaban City, 2-5-10 Tsubashi Street.

It is a mediocre restaurant.

Moses walked into the restaurant alone, showed his Hunter License under the stunned gaze of the restaurant owner and staff before heading straight to the elevator room that led to the testing location.

Similar to the original work, the first phase of the exam was held in a passageway beneath 100 floors, which connected directly to the Swindler's Swamp.

Moses stepped into the elevator room.

The restaurant owner at the counter and the waiter who was carrying the food tray were staring blankly at the closed door.

They'd received prior notification of his arrival, so they were mentally prepared for him to appear.

But after seeing what Moses wore on his face left them visibly shaken.

Inside the elevator room, Moses twisted the knob to activate it.

The room rumbled slightly as it began its descent.

Moyu casually leaned against the wall next to the door, thinking to himself: 'Will this year's Hunter Exam... be different?"

He was thinking that with the presence of him as the 'butterfly', perhaps the original plot would have changed from the very beginning, such as the number of examinees taking the exam would be different, or someone who was supposed to take the exam did not show up.

'It's hard to say about Hisoka, but Tonpa and Gon are sure to be here.'

Moses lowered his head and thought,

'Whether it's Tonpa or Gon…'

'It is against the will of heaven not to take advantage of them.'

After a long time, the elevator room reached the underground passage.

Moses walked out of the elevator room. The huge passage was empty and so quiet that he could hear a pin drop.

Tap, tap-

He walked in the passage, and his footsteps, which were not deliberately restrained, echoed in the passage.

Moments later.

Another sound appeared within the passage.

On a wall lined with pipes, a rectangular opening appeared.

A gentlemanly man with a neat mustache poked his head out from the entrance of the cave and his eyes widened in surprise as he stared at Moses.

More specifically, he stared at what was on Moses' face.

It was a very realistic silicone mask, so realistic that it didn't even have eye holes.

Wearing such a mask, Moses should be completely blind and cannot see anything.

But the twist is-

The mask was modeled after Netero's face!

"M-Mr. Moses, are you…serious?"

The man who suddenly appeared was Satotz, who was responsible for the first phase in the original work. He stared at the silicone mask on Moses's face with a mixture of surprise and disbelief.

Moses, with the mask on, looked toward Satotz standing at the opening and smiled:

"Pretty close, right?"

"…"

Satotz had mixed feelings at this moment.
