Chapter 212: Chapter 214: Arturia: If Shinji Were a Crab, That Would Be Great
The theater echoed with the laughter of a young girl, leaving the audience stunned into silence.
It wasn't because the viewers were overwhelmed by Sakura's exaggerated laugh.
By now, after the first part of Heaven's Feel and everything that followed, everyone was more than familiar with Sakura's "yandere" laughter.
Especially for those in the theater who had purchased all-day passes. After hearing her laugh multiple times throughout the day, they had grown tired of it.
What shocked the audience was not Sakura's laugh but Matou Zouken's death.
Originally thought to be the ultimate boss of the story, the character was killed off so abruptly that the audience could hardly believe it.
Who was Matou Zouken?
He was the mastermind of the Heaven's Feel route, the ultimate boss, the unkillable cockroach, the immortal relic.
From the first installment to now, this guy had already been killed twice, yet every time the audience thought he was gone, he would reappear.
The first time, Archer directly shredded his body, but Zouken managed to reform by consuming people.
The second time, Kirei Kotomine gave him a dual send-off by destroying both his physical and spiritual forms. Yet after the battle, the old creature was still creeping around, secretly growing through Matou Sakura.
Given all his careful preparations, surely this time—
Splat!
Just as the audience was waiting to see how the ultimate boss would make a classic comeback, the bug was squashed by Sakura in one swift move.
No dramatic twist, no clever ploy, not even a villain's monologue before dying—just a simple, abrupt end.
The entire audience was left dumbfounded.
"Uh... he just died like that?"
Shibamatsu couldn't believe it.
Wasn't this supposed to be the final boss? How could he die so casually?! At least say a few lines before going down!
Little did he know, this was exactly the effect Shinji had aimed for.
As they say, life and death are often determined by fate, and sometimes death comes unexpectedly.
Even if you've lived for 500 years, it doesn't mean your death must be dramatic or heroic.
Sometimes, it's sudden and completely devoid of ceremony...
Okay, to be honest, the real reason was that the episode's runtime was tight. Shinji decided to cut Zouken's dying cries to highlight Sakura's decisiveness instead.
Logically speaking, the death of a scoundrel like Zouken should have brought applause from the audience.
But because his death was so abrupt, everyone's first reaction was to wonder if there was some deeper conspiracy at play.
However, there was none.
Instead of seeing a twist or comeback, the audience was shown the protagonist team exploring Mount Enzō.
"Hey, hey, dear Shibamatsu."
Fujita wrapped an arm around Shibamatsu's neck and teased, "Didn't you say earlier that Zouken was the final boss? Looks like you're heading to the basement again!"
"Bullshit!"
Shibamatsu shoved Fujita away and complained, "I made such an accurate prediction in the fifth episode, and none of you said anything. Now that I'm wrong, you all won't let it go!"
"Watching others fail is just more fun~"
Fujita continued to laugh heartlessly.
Shibamatsu sneered coldly. "The story isn't over yet. I believe Shinji will pull off one last twist."
"I doubt it. You know the saying—two's a coincidence, three's a pattern. Zouken's role is probably done," Fujita guessed. "Kotomine Kirei still has unresolved plotlines. Adding another round for Zouken would just make things messy."
"We'll see."
Shibamatsu snorted. His stubborn pride made him insist, "I think Zouken still has a chance for a comeback."
"If you're wrong, back to the basement tonight?"
"No way!"
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
While the magus argued noisily, Shirou Emiya, Rin, and Rider finally discovered the great hollow cavern.
After walking through a long mountain tunnel, they found themselves in a massive chamber the size of a school sports field.
Standing before them was Saber Alter, exuding an aura of absolute killing intent.
"Mordred, wake up."
Shinji smacked Mordred on the head with a teaching stick.
The girl had fallen asleep earlier due to the lengthy dialogue scenes.
"Huh? Father got married? Nooo!"
Mordred jolted awake, drooling in her sleep.
"Are you still half-asleep, you idiot?"
Shinji jabbed the handle of the pointer stick hard against Mordred's cheek.
"Hey! Master, I'm going to sue you for harassment!"
Mordred quickly dodged.
The long, straight handle of the stick pressing against her face immediately conjured up some inappropriate associations.
Smack!
Shinji slapped the pointer stick against the ground, emphasizing his point. "Wake up already! Saber Alter's big moment is coming up soon. Your role in the movie is pretty similar to hers—a fighter type. You'd better=== Hey! Are you even listening to me?!"
"Hehe, Black Father gets to shine, huh? That's not bad at all~ Slurp~"
Mordred wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth, her eyes glued to the TV screen.
"Master, she's not paying any attention to you," Jeanne said, spreading her hands and giving Shinji a helpless shrug.
"Tsk. I just hope when she's on set, she can fully display her black father's badassery," Shinji muttered.
Jeanne chuckled coldly. "Master, you're dreaming."
"..."
Shinji didn't respond.
Whether Shinji was dreaming or not, it was clear that Shirou Emiya on the screen shared a hint of the same delusion.
"Saber—!!"
Even though he knew his Servant wouldn't respond, Shirou still shouted the name of the Servant he once fought alongside.
But Saber Alter's gaze shifted to Rin, coldly stating that her duty was to stop everyone except Tohsaka Rin.
"I see. If I'm the exception, that must mean Sakura wants to meet with me, right?" Rin said.
Saber Alter silently nodded.
"Oh-ho, interesting, Sakura."
Accepting her sister's challenge without hesitation, Rin confidently stepped forward.
"Sorry, Emiya-kun. Given the circumstances, I'll be heading ahead first."
With that, Rin tossed her hair and strode past Saber Alter, heading deeper into the cavern.
"If you really want to save Sakura, Emiya-kun, don't take too long," Rin said before vanishing into the darkness.
Shirou, emboldened by his companion's determination, braced himself, only to have cold reality splash over him.
"Shirou, it's impossible for you to take another step forward. You're going to die here."
The tangible aura of killing intent surged, targeting the remaining Shirou and Rider.
Facing the overwhelming pressure of Saber Alter, Shirou involuntarily stepped back.
At that moment, Rider stepped forward.
"'Kill'? That's something I can't just ignore."
Bending slightly, Rider's long, purple hair cascaded like a waterfall over her smooth back.
"Saber, you're only allowed to attack those who try to pass through here, right? If he just stays where he is, you can't strike him, can you?"
"If he truly stays in place, then yes," Saber Alter admitted, before coldly stating, "But this man will move forward no matter what. Even knowing he can't defeat me, he'll still advance."
"As expected of someone who once served him as a Servant. You know his personality inside out."
Saber Alter didn't respond to Rider's mockery. Instead, she narrowed her eyes and gripped the corrupted holy sword tightly in both hands.
Rider decisively removed the blindfold over her Mystic Eyes and gestured for Shirou Emiya to step back.
Saber Alter raised her sword, having locked her gaze on Rider.
"While I can't defeat her, I can hold her off. Thankfully, Saber doesn't have resistance against Mystic Eyes," Rider said, outlining the plan to Shirou behind her.
"Even though I can't petrify someone with her level of magic resistance, I can still pressure her. If I go all out, I can match her strength."
Rider's sharp eyes focused on Saber Alter.
"I'll create the opportunity. Shirou, don't move recklessly—make sure you seize it."
"Rider!"
"Then... I leave my life in your hands, Shirou."
In the next instant, Rider's figure vanished.
With blinding speed, the dark rider dashed toward the black-clad swordswoman.
Bang!
Rider's lightning-fast strike—impossible to follow with the human eye—was effortlessly blocked by Saber Alter.
"Excellent. Let's start by eliminating you, Rider."
The oppressive aura filled the cavern, suffocatingly heavy.
The black swordswoman smirked coldly, her tyrannical presence unshaken, as she launched her counterattack against Rider.
The two Servants clashed mid-air, exchanging blows in an intense battle.
As in her previous fight against Berserker, Saber Alter's abundant magical energy allowed her to use bold, overwhelming attacks.
Rider, on the other hand, displayed a more agile combat style, using her speed and flexibility to evade and counter.
Shinji's filming of Rider's fighting techniques took inspiration from the Black Widow sequences in the Marvel movies from his past life.
Black Widow and Rider—both elegant yet deadly women—complemented each other perfectly in spirit.
Since no stunt doubles were necessary, Rider performed entire sequences of fluid, unbroken movements, making the choreography not only sharper and more dynamic but also more alluring.
Particularly whenever Rider twisted her waist or turned her back to the camera, Shinji's lens always captured her lower body—her waist, legs, and hips.
"Tch. Why is it that even a blackened Saber can maintain her majestic presence, but my fight choreography has me spinning and twisting like this?" Rider grumbled irritably from her seat.
She didn't need anyone to explain; she already had a good idea why.
"Ugh, damn cinematic appeal," she muttered, biting her nails in frustration.
"Why does Shinji have such a thing for these pseudo-suggestive shots? I want to have cooler fight scenes too!"
"I completely agree, Rider," Arturia chimed in, nodding. "Sometimes I genuinely regret that Master isn't a crab."
"...What?"
Noticing Rider's puzzled expression, Arturia calmly clarified.
"If he were, his shell would be packed with crab roe."
