Chapter 1413: Don’t Mislead the Children
Xiaobao looked up, his two big eyes shining like black grapes, clear and bright.
The woman walked over with a smile, squatted in front of him, and upon seeing that this little fellow could come and go freely in the president's office, she knew he must be Shen Chi's child.
"You are very cute too."
"Auntie, play with me." Xiaobao didn't want to deal with Xu Chaomu and Shen Chi anymore.
The woman looked at Xiaobao with a troubled expression, then glanced into the president's office and smiled, "Auntie still has things to do. How about I come to play with you later?"
"Auntie, take me with you."
The woman glanced at Shen Chi with difficulty and whispered for help, "President Shen..."
"Zhao Jie, he rarely takes a liking to someone; you take her to play for a while." Shen Chi spoke.
"Okay." The woman liked Xiaobao very much, as taking the little guy to play was much more relaxing than working.
"Let's go, auntie will take you to play." The woman took Xiaobao's hand.
"Yeah, I don't need mom and dad anymore." Xiaobao was very happy, hopping and skipping along.
Xu Chaomu's face was covered in black lines. It seemed that the earlier submission was just a momentary concession, and now in the blink of an eye, resentment had emerged.
The woman laughed too. This child was so smart, truly Shen Chi's son.
Xiaobao happily hopped and skipped away with the woman, not shy at all, nor afraid of being taken away by strangers.
With Xiaobao gone, the office was much quieter. Xu Chaomu, feeling helpless, shrugged her shoulders at Shen Chi.
"What about this contract? Is it important?" Xu Chaomu asked Shen Chi.
"We'll have to have Ruan Hang make a new one, but there are a lot of official seals on it; he's going to have to run around again to get them all." Shen Chi also said helplessly.
"Pfft." Xu Chaomu couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Look at the fine son you've got there."
Shen Chi hooked the corner of his mouth and looked at her with a sense of reproach.
As soon as Xiaobao was free from Xu Chaomu and Shen Chi's clutches, he was especially delighted. Holding the pretty auntie's hand, he asked, "Auntie, auntie, do you think my dad is handsome?"
"Err..." Zhao Jie didn't know how to respond. Children say the darnedest things, and if she said he was handsome, what if President Shen misunderstood?
"Why don't you answer me..." Xiaobao waited expectantly.
"Handsome." Zhao Jie had no choice but to say.
"I think so too."
Zhao Jie laughed; this little fellow was so articulate at such a young age. Truly, he was President Shen's son, smart.
"Then do you think my mom is pretty?" Xiaobao asked again.
"Pretty."
"But she's very fierce."
"That's because she loves you."
"Why do you think my dad likes my mom?" Xiaobao asked once more.
Zhao Jie felt nervous; why did this little rascal have so many questions? And all questions she didn't know how to answer.
"Well... Auntie doesn't know either," Zhao Jie said, "Look, there's a big fish tank over there. Auntie will take you."
"Okay..."
Zhao Jie finally found a way to distract Xiaobao, leading him to a large fish tank which housed colorful tropical fish swimming about, blowing bubbles, surrounded by various kinds of water plants.
Xia Chuqing happened to see Xiaobao and walked over with a smile: "Xiaobao, where are your mom and dad?"
"I don't know." Xiaobao was still holding a grudge.
"Can you see? If not, godmother will hold you up," Xia Chuqing said.
"Okay..." Xiaobao wanted to see the fish at the top, "I want to look at that big red fish."
"Alrighty, godmother will lift you up!"
Xia Chuqing picked up Xiaobao, who felt light and tender in her arms. And there was a subtle scent of milk on the little one, which made Chuqing's heart melt as she held him.
She really liked Xiaobao so much, she could never get enough of him.
Thinking about her upcoming trip to France, when she would not be able to see Xiaobao, made her feel a bit downcast.
"This fish is very big, will it eat the little fish?" Xiaobao asked curiously.
"No, they are the same kind of fish," Chuqing told him.
"Oh, the same kind of fish," Xiaobao pondered thoughtfully.
"That's right, so they won't fight and hurt each other, understand?" Chuqing said.
"Oh..." Xiaobao nodded.
"Don't teach the child nonsense." At this moment, a deep voice came from behind.
Xiao Mo walked towards them with a steady pace, dressed in business attire, as if he had just finished a meeting.
Without turning her head, Chuqing gritted her teeth at the sound of his voice. Wasn't it said that the chances of encountering Xiao Mo here were slim?
"Mr. Xiao," Zhao Jie greeted him promptly.
"Uncle Xiao," Xiaobao turned and called out, reaching out to Xiao Mo.
Xiao Mo curved his lips in a slight smile, approaching Xiaobao's side.
"Who brought you here?" Xiao Mo asked with a smile.
"Bad mommy," Xiaobao said, still remembering how his mother spanked him.
Xiao Mo laughed: "Speaking ill of mommy again, aren't you afraid I'll tell her?"
Xiaobao was startled and after a moment, shook his head: "Bad uncle."
"Alright, uncle won't tell your mommy. But, you have to let uncle hold you for a while," Xiao Mo reached out his hand.
Zhao Jie also smiled; it was her first time seeing Xiao Mo like this. Xiao Mo was usually quite serious, rarely smiled, and of course, it was rare for children to visit their company.
Zhao Jie secretly admired Xiao Mo, watching him from a distance, never daring to speak up.
She knew that Xiao Mo was single, but also knew he was very outstanding, so she had always been working hard.
This time, seeing a different side of Xiao Mo up close, Zhao Jie's face flushed, and her heart beat faster.
But it was Chuqing who held Xiaobao tighter, whispering: "Xiaobao, you can't go with strangers, godmother will take you to find your mommy and daddy."
With that, Chuqing was about to leave with Xiaobao in her arms.
Xiao Mo's hand was still outstretched. He moved the corner of his lips slightly and said indifferently, "Miss Xia, didn't you hear Xiaobao call me uncle?"
Xiaobao also looked curiously at them both, leaning forward, wanting Xiao Mo to hold him.
Xiao Mo took Xiaobao from Chuqing's arms, and Zhao Jie said with a smile: "The little guy is really adorable, Mr. Xiao, he really likes you."
"Mm," Xiao Mo replied faintly.
Chuqing glanced at Xiao Mo, his face calm, expressionless, with faint bite marks still visible on his arm.
It had been a few days since she last saw him, but the bite marks on his arm had not faded, suggesting she must have bitten quite hard. But he deserved it.
"You all play, I'm going up," Chuqing turned around, ready to go.
"Godmother, godmother," Xiaobao was reluctant to part with Chuqing, calling out pitifully.
Chuqing paused, her heart melted by Xiaobao's voice, she hadn't had enough fun with Xiaobao either.
She had to stop: "Xiaobao, do you want to go play with godmother? Godmother will take you to other places."
"The company is very big, it's your first time here, what if you get lost?" Xiao Mo scowled.
Zhao Jie realized they seemed to know each other, not sure what to say, she didn't dare to interrupt.
"Can't you be uncomfortable without making a few remarks? I'm not directionally challenged and I don't wander around, how could I lose Xiaobao." Chuqing was quite indignant.
