I Was a Loner, but My Class Got Summoned to Another World…

Chapter 423: Clash in Elris Pt.5

As Brian shouted the names of those he once called friends, all the heroes present turned to see if the boy was telling the truth.

Ren and Yui both glanced back at the same time. They only had a few seconds before returning to battle, but it was enough.

They saw them—two former classmates from half a year ago.

George's condition immediately struck them. He had died. They knew it. And yet here he was… or rather, what remained of him. His movements were unnatural, and his aura was now non-existent. The only logical explanation was that he had been resurrected as some form of undead.

As for the other… his face looked the same, but the resemblance ended there. His body now bore demonic features—horns, blue skin, and a tail.

Worst of all was the aura he carried. It didn't belong to him, it was far to powerful.

They felt it the moment he stepped onto the battlefield.

"Let's hurry, Yui," Ren said sharply, his voice low and urgent. "Something's wrong… really wrong. We need to call Logan. If we're going to survive this, we'll need his help."

He turned his attention back to the human-like wolves, determined to keep them off Brian.

Drawing his second blade—a special weapon forged by Ruben—he took a deep breath. It was a one-use sword, made of condensed mana crystal, infused with both fire and light elements.

It was very fragile to wield and especially hard to craft, but devastating in its first strike.

Ren's eyes scanned the field.

The werewolves around him were relentless, each more vicious than the last. But there was one silver lining—the black-furred wolf, the main damage dealer, was close to death. That was one less threat.

Now he had to act.

He gripped the crystal blade tightly, his eyes locking onto the brown-furred wolf, the one giving his sister the most trouble.

His light-infused katana flared in his hand.

"Yui—now!"

As soon as those words left his mouth, Yui tossed a shuriken toward Ren—her marker for Shadow Step.

In an instant, their positions switched. Ren warped beside her, and she appeared behind the black-furred wolf.

She leapt upward and activated Kunai Storm, unleashing a deadly barrage of shurikens in all directions. The sudden onslaught halted the gray werewolf's movement. That one was the assassin-type among the were-beasts, agile and precise—but even it had to retreat under the storm of spinning blades.

The barrage was just the start.

Yui gripped two daggers, and her expression went from sharp to focused in an instant. With her next move, she activated Lurking Fangs. She disappeared from sight once more as she used Shadow Step—this time warping behind the injured black wolf.

To divert its attention, she conjured a Phantom Mirror—a clone mimicking her movements.

Then, she vanished completely.

At her current level, Yui's stealth was no longer just slipping into the shadows—it was bending the very light around her. She didn't need the shade of trees or walls. She was just gone, erased from sight.

Without warning, both blades struck like fangs. One missed—the wolf was still dangerous, aware of its surroundings, and not easy prey—but the other found its mark.

Good. She didn't want it to be too easy.

Then, a sudden flash of light blinded the battlefield.

Yui knew what it was.

She smiled as she saw the creature's eyes widen in disbelief—Ren's Amaterasu no Ketsui had just ignited.

That moment of hesitation gave her the chance she needed.

She dropped low, slashing across one of the wolf's legs, causing it to stagger. Her clone mirrored her perfectly, holding one of the daggers as she followed up with the other.

In a final motion, both Yui and her shadow clone struck upward—one blade piercing the shoulder, before the two blades being held by the same figure of the girl collided in the middle.

The black wolf did not get to take in another breath… and collapsed.

"Yui! Hide!" Ren's voice shouted across the battlefield.

Ren's warning came just in time.

Yui barely managed to dodge the massive vertical slash that tore through everything in its path. Demons and wolves were cleaved in half as the attack carved a twenty-meter arc of destruction across the battlefield.

Yui let herself drop to the ground, pressing flat against the dirt as the wave of energy passed overhead.

"Now that was strong, onii-chan!" she called out, grinning as she pushed herself up into a crouch with a single, smooth motion.

She scanned the area quickly. Two wolves had been slain instantly. The gray-furred wolf, the one that had been stalking her from behind, had been sliced in two before it even had the chance to attack her.

"Yes, well, next time be more careful," Ren replied, his tone tight with lingering worry. "You were almost dead. If I'd been even one second slower… I don't even want to think about it."

Yui's smile softened for a second.

"Of course, you would've saved me either way. Now come on—let's focus. We need to help that fool Brian, who can't even take down one wolf," Yui scoffed, pointing toward the battlefield.

Brian—the so-called champion, the top fighter among the heroes—was failing miserably. The white-furred wolf had him completely cornered. He couldn't even breathe between strikes, constantly suppressed by the creature's regenerating shields. Part of the problem was that Brian kept glancing toward the newly arrived enemies—toward the figure that looked like Jonathan.

The one who was supposedly Jonathan only smirked through the chaos, his gaze locked on Brian, taunting him with silent betrayal. That mocking presence was making Brian lose focus, and his attacks kept slipping further into disarray.

"If that's all it is," Ren said, "we can handle it in a few seconds. That one's all about defense. If we cut through its shields, it's over."

He winked at his sister, then sighed before casually tossing five shurikens—one at her feet, one at his, and two beneath Brian.

In an instant, Shadow Step activated.

Brian vanished, replaced by Ren and Yui, now standing in his place.

"Thank us later, Brian," Ren called out. "But we're finishing this fast."

He ran a hand through his hair and reached for his remaining blade. His previous weapon—the one made of crystal—had already shattered in the last clash.

"Alright, white-fur," Ren muttered, locking eyes with the wolf. "We're gonna play a little. I bet you'll make a good pet for a friend of mine. So sit still, and we might just let you live."

His words had the desired effect.

The white-furred werewolf huffed angrily, its claws extended. It had seen what Ren and Yui did to its packmates—and it wasn't about to go down without a fight.
