I Was a Loner, but My Class Got Summoned to Another World…

Chapter 422: Clash in Highrule: Conclusion

Soon, all the creatures surrounded Murk. They had only one goal: to drain as much mana from the monster as possible. Each had been given a mutation crystal, making them far more dangerous. Not only could they sap Murk's energy, but they had once been Logan's trained monsters. Now, many had levels—some even reaching level 80—making them just as strong as Murk, who was neither a sovereign, blessed, nor chosen.

Logan could feel Murk's hesitation. He was still a part of Murk.

[Don't worry. You're just as strong as me right now. Use my skills the same way I use yours. Try to control the wind.]

Logan felt Murk immediately begin manipulating wind and darkness, blending the two to push the fog toward Zaryx. The demon ignored the creatures; they had no life source. Even if Murk's acid was devouring them, they continued fighting.

Logan crept closer, biding his time. The fog overhead was only a distraction—his true attack would come from below.

Time was short. Murk was being overwhelmed by the zombified creatures. Logan could see it—if he didn't act soon, Murk wouldn't last.

He was just about to rise when Zaryx reached down and grabbed him.

This time, the demon wasn't worried about his hand being destroyed by the miasma.

"You thought I couldn't see how you were splitting yourself, hero? I knew exactly what your plan was. So what now? You're just half the creature, and the other half is about to be drained. After that, you'll be the tamer I drain all the mana from."

Zaryx's grip closed around Logan's neck. But Logan quickly realized—it wasn't the real body. It was a clone, just like him. The real Zaryx was one of the zombies closing in on Murk.

"Damn it… what are you, half slime or something?" Logan muttered, startled at how easily this demon could divide himself.

"Did I not say it before?" Zaryx replied, his voice calm. "We demons have had countless years to improve ourselves. Some chose dragons to gain strength. I chose the simplest of creatures—one that alone can't do much, but when studied correctly, has limitless potential."

Logan narrowed his eyes. He had a decision to make—and he had to choose the best one, fast.

He had separated himself from Murk, but it didn't end there. The slime beside him was still present—still under Murk's control.

"Now explode your body and keep this one… active!" Logan commanded.

He drew his whip, knowing he'd have a narrow window after the blast to take Zaryx down while the demon was disoriented.

As Logan split his form, he slashed through the fake Zaryx, who was still gripping the slime. But its neck melted away, reverting to a formless mass.

Logan didn't hesitate. He channeled Holy Nova and hurled it point-blank at the face of the zombified creature in front of him.

Murk had just enough time to recoil before Holy Nova exploded. Simultaneously, the body Murk had abandoned detonated as well, releasing a miasma so toxic that everyone nearby scrambled to escape.

Logan swept his arm, bending the wind to gather and funnel the miasma directly toward the real Zaryx. He surged forward, another Holy Nova glowing in his palm. This time, he wouldn't just wound the demon—he would purify all remaining filth.

He unleashed the light.

Zaryx, still reeling from the earlier explosion, had no time to react. The blast consumed him, reducing him and his minions to a dissolving puddle. But Logan narrowed his eyes.

The experience gained was pitiful.

He hadn't killed the real one.

Logan scanned his surroundings—everything looked undisturbed. Only Murk remained, his mass reduced, wobbling weakly as he tried to compress into a smaller form to recover.

[Sorry, Murk. I'll feed you the finest darkness crystals. I'll even send you to Velmora—I'm sure she'll help you get stronger, alright?]

Logan couldn't linger. There was still a creature he had to capture no matter the cost—the queen beetle, now cornered by the others.

A tendril of darkness wrapped around his hand as he nicked himself with his spear, letting his blood drip in preparation. The offering would be ready the moment he greeted the royal.

He leapt upward, riding the wind's current and briefly casting his angelic wings. With his mana hovering around twenty-five percent, he kept them up only as long as necessary.

The queen was in a sorry state.

Silis bit at her, Lisa prodded her with bursts of light, and Ruben kept her from fleeing. Even her loyal soldiers couldn't reach her—each trapped in rising stone cages summoned by Ferra. No one was striking to kill.

Everyone understood that keeping her alive was the goal.

Soon, Logan arrived in front of her. He looked over her tattered form, wondering how much resistance she could still offer. With two quick strikes of his whip, he lashed her, each one soaking her open wounds with blood.

That was when the mental struggle began.

Between two royals: the human lord of this land, and the giant beetle queen, a creature hailing from the underworld of her own world.

Logan smirked. He could already sense the fear blooming within her. She was resisting fiercely, but it wasn't enough. His taming skill was now ranked far higher, and with it came the ability to pierce through mental defenses.

The queen clutched her head and screeched in pain. Her legs buckled, and she dropped to her knees, nearly collapsing face-first into the ground.

"I guess that's enough… You've lost this fight."

Logan reached out and gripped her shoulder. She looked up, her eyes locking with his.

[We lost…]

Logan gave a silent nod, then glanced around the battlefield.

The beetles that had once fought against them had turned on the demons. His own beasts had routed the blue-armored enemies and were now cutting them down. Some of the enemy surrendered. Others went berserk, and a few chose to end their own lives.

[Serana… how's Highrule? That bastard Zaryx escaped again. But something tells me he's still hiding a nasty trick.]

Serana, who had a small bat watching the battlefield, took a moment to process the question before answering.

[Nothing yet, Master. I'll continue to monitor the area with the others. But worry not—we have our weapon ready. Marie is about to launch it… which means you should go help the others now.]
