I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal

Chapter 134: Monica (2)

Adam went to school with Sophia. But he did look back one last time. He saw Monica standing and waving at him. She was smiling a lot a wide happy smile. Seeing this Adam felt something is wrong.

After reaching the school he saw that Sophia was still looking down. Her gaze was fixed on the ground as they walked. Adam took a deep breath. He decided he had to say something. He said "I found a very strong clue. Because of it I could have killed my enemies."

But before he could finish his sentence Sophia held out her hand. It was a simple gesture to stop him. She looked up at Adam. Her eyes were serious and clear. She said "I don't want to know. I trust you."

Adam was very surprised to hear this. He had expected questions. He had expected worry. This quiet trust was something new. Sophia started walking forward toward the classroom. Adam followed her. He felt he needed to explain more. He said "Won't you ask me how I met that girl?"

Sophia thought for a moment. Her steps faltered for a second. But she looked at Adam again. Her expression was honest. "I didn't like it" she said. "And I would be lying if I said that it doesn't matter to me. It matters a lot. But I trust you."

Adam was about to tell her everything anyway. He opened his mouth to speak. But she held up her hand again a firm final gesture. She walked forward and said "I said it before and I'll say it again. I trust you. So I don't want to know in what situation you met that girl."

Hearing this she went into the class. She left Adam standing in the hallway. Adam stood behind smiling to himself. He said quietly "It seems Sophia is slowly growing up even more." He knew she was becoming stronger. And he was proud of her.

He knew how much trouble Sophia had been in these past few days. It was all because of Adam. He had managed to hold onto his humanity only because of her. She was his anchor.

Otherwise he would have abandoned his entire humanity a long time ago. He would have become a true monster. He smiled at the thought and started to go inside his class.

Adam was very surprised as soon as he entered the classroom. He saw Lily sitting a short distance away. As soon as Lily saw Adam she immediately looked away.

Her eyes darted to the side avoiding his gaze. Fear was clearly visible on her face. Seeing this Adam was also satisfied in a way.

Because as long as Lily was afraid she would stay away from Sophia. But Adam knew that people like her would not give up so easily. They were persistent. They would need to be reminded from time to to time. He would have to teach them a lesson again.

Scenes Shifts

Philips's father and his grandfather stood at home. They were in the main study. Philips was very nervous in front of the two of them. His father Samuel spoke first. His voice was cold and hard. "You have thrown our family into great danger. Do you have any idea?"

Philips was scared. He had never seen his father like this. But he was also very confused. His grandfather Borcelino who was sitting right there slammed his fist on the heavy wooden table in front of him. The sound echoed in the quiet room. He shouted and said "We gave you all these things. We gave you this life. This does not mean that you become completely irresponsible."

Hearing this Philips looked at his grandfather and father with fear. His eyes moved between the two angry men. He said "But please tell me what has happened." Philips's father Samuel stepped forward. His movement was sudden and sharp. He slapped Philips hard across the face. The sound was like a gunshot. He said "And after doing so much you are asking what to do now."

His father had never raised his hand on him before. This was the first time his father had laid a hand on him. Ever. Everything felt very strange to him. He felt like he was living in a dream a terrible nightmare.

Borcelino sat back down in his chair. He looked old and tired. He put his hand on his head and said "We will have to pay attention to that later. First we must stop the coming war." He looked at the two guards present in the house.

They stood silently by the door. He said "Lock him in his room for a week. He should not be allowed to leave the room for any reason." Those two guards grabbed Philips by the arms and took him away from there. Philips did not resist. He was in shock.

Philips's father Samuel went to his own father Borcelino. He said "Family head can we not do anything? We have the support of the Royal Family."

Hearing this Borcelino looked up at Samuel. His eyes were filled with a deep weariness. He said "What do you think? Did I not try? I have tried everything. But whatever I do all my attempts are useless. Five families have started a war against us at the same time. And wherever our men are seen they can kill them all on sight. There is no negotiation. There is no diplomacy. There is only blood." His son Samuel was very shocked to hear this.

Then he sat down heavily in a chair. He looked at his father. His face was full of despair. He asked what are our chances of winning.

Borcelino shook his head slowly. He looked older than he had just an hour ago. He said our chances of winning are very low. Almost zero. If we get help from the Royal Family then something like this can happen.

We might survive.
