I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal

Chapter 121: James (2)

James got out of the car. He gave Adam one last look a mixture of fear and resentment in his eyes. He then turned and walked towards Philips's house.

The guard at the gate saw him and immediately remembered master orders. He opened the gate for him. James smiled. Even though this stupid Adam had caught him at least he still had Philips. He would make his mood better by tormenting him as much as possible.

He went inside the mansion. Philips had already been told that James had arrived. He was in his study reading a book. When he heard that James was here a look of annoyance crossed his face. He walked out of the study room and went to meet him.

"If it weren't for this Adam I would have finished off this worthless teacher long ago," he muttered to himself. "But I can't. There's a restriction on us."

He remembered what his father had told him. The Royal Family had forbidden them from taking any direct action in Adam's case. They did not want Adam to find out about the 80 families spread all over the world especially the Royal Family.

Philips corrected his attitude and went out with a cute smile on his face. He saw James sitting on a sofa in the hall.

"Teacher," he said his voice a mixture of a cute smile and a little fear.

James smiled back. "Philips you haven't been coming to school for a long time," he said. "So I thought I should come to meet you."

There were many servants in the hall but they all went about their work as if they were invisible.

James smiled a slow predatory smile. He stood up and walked over to Philips. He put his hand on his shoulder his grip a little too tight. "Let's go somewhere with fewer people," he said in a low voice.

Philips was seething with a silent rage but he could not do anything right now.

He followed James his face a perfect picture of fear and submission.

He turned and looked at the servants his eyes cold and hard. "No one will trouble us," he said his voice a low command that they all understood.

He then took James to his room a large opulent space with a four-poster bed and a balcony that overlooked the sprawling gardens.

As soon as they entered the room, the door was closed James slapped Philips hard across the face. The sound of the slap echoed in the silent room.

"What did you think?" he said his voice filled with a cold rage a righteous indignation. "That you could just hide in your big fancy house and be safe from me?"

Philips's face burned with anger and humiliation but he controlled it. He looked away from James his eyes downcast his body trembling with a mixture of fear and a barely suppressed fury. "Teacher I had no such intention," he said his voice a pathetic whimper.

"Then what was that?" James demanded his voice rising. "That little act of defiance in front of your servants? Should I tell everyone what you did to your friend? Should I tell them what a monster you really are?"

"Teacher I want to leave this school," Philips said his voice a low whisper a desperate plea.

James was furious. He grabbed Philips by the collar of his shirt. "What did you say?" he said his face just inches from Philips's. "You want to leave this school?"

He started to laugh a cruel heartless sound. "Do I look like a fool to you?" he said pushing Philips away. "You can't run away so easily. If you even think of leaving this school I will go to her family and give them the proof I have against you. I will destroy you."

James was just bluffing. He had no proof. He had just told everyone in last loop that he had seen Philips push his friend off the cliff. He was just trying to scare him to maintain his control over him.

Philips took a deep breath. He was still looking at the floor. "This is not my decision," he said his voice a quiet resignation. "It's my father's. And I can't do anything about it. I have to obey him."

James looked at Philips his face a mask of pure anger. "I don't care whose decision it is," he said his voice a low growl. "And if your father is so fond of making decisions then let him decide whether you go to jail or live a free life."

Philips clenched his fists his knuckles turning white. A storm of rage was brewing inside him but he controlled himself. He could not afford to lose his temper now. Not with James holding all the cards. "Okay," he said his voice a quiet submission. "I'll try to make my father understand."

"Don't try," James said his voice a sharp command. "Do it. You're not going anywhere. You're not leaving this school."

He then remembered what Adam had said. He had a mission to accomplish. He felt like he did not need to hide anything from Philips. He could just take what he wanted. What could Philips do to him? But then he remembered Adam's cold eyes his quiet threat. He remembered the feeling of Adam's foot on his chest. He took a deep breath. No that boy is really mad, he thought a shiver of fear running down his spine.

He looked at Philips a greedy glint in his eyes. "Go and bring me ten thousand dollars," he said. "Quickly."

Philips was stunned. He could not believe the man's audacity. Has this man gone mad? he thought a cold fury rising within him. Should I kill him right now? "Ten thousand dollars?" he said his voice a low growl of disbelief. "That's an absurd amount."

James slapped him hard across the face again. "Do I have to remind you of your condition?" he said his voice a cruel sneer.
