Ethan focused his gaze, finding the man in the suit very familiar. After a moment's thought, wasn't it the same man he had battled against on the ship when he first arrived in the Kanto region? What a coincidence.

However, the purple Rattata that had battled Kirlia back then had now evolved into a brown large rodent—Raticate.

"Raticate, use High Jump Kick!"

"Starmie, use Tackle!"

The two Pokémon collided, seemingly evenly matched, but in reality, Raticate had the upper hand. After they separated, the suited man commanded again, "Raticate, use Hyper Fang!"

With a burst of speed, Raticate charged toward Starmie, sinking its hard fangs fiercely into Starmie's body. As Raticate continued to exert pressure, the gem in the center of Starmie's body suddenly shattered, and its entire form toppled backward onto the ground.

A round of applause erupted from the crowd, cheering wholeheartedly for the victor. Seeing the young boy embrace his Pokémon, the man in the suit, despite winning the match, maintained his gentlemanly demeanor and said, "That was just a small battle. I suppose the goddess of victory simply favors me more. In any case, I hope you'll train your Starmie to be even stronger in the future."

A woman in a red strapless gown then approached and linked her arm with the suited man's. Victorious in battle, and triumphant in romance as well, it was clear this man truly enjoyed such a life.

"Alright, are there any other Trainers who wish to challenge my Raticate?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than, before Ethan could react, a figure flashed past him. Ash had already charged in front of the suited man.

"I'm all fired up! Let my Butterfree be your opponent!"

Shaking his head, Ethan exchanged greetings with Misty and Brock. He chose not to watch the battle and walked towards another area with Kirlia. Before boarding the ship, he had put away his other Pokémon beforehand, worried about the crowd and noise, keeping only Kirlia by his side.

Walking past various stalls, Ethan suddenly noticed a young man dressed as a waiter talking to an old man selling Magikarp. The young man had a handsome face, with blue-gray, medium-length hair parted down the middle, covering his ears. His overall demeanor suggested a gentle, overly nice person.

"I'll tell you a secret," the old man, who sold Magikarp and wore a white headband, said shrewdly. "This Magikarp here can actually produce gold!"

The young man paused: "Gold?"

"That's right, that's right," the Magikarp salesman whispered, covering his mouth with his hand. "A Magikarp lays a thousand eggs at a time. A thousand Magikarp then lay another thousand eggs. A thousand times a thousand is a million! Imagine if a million of them laid eggs again—that's an astronomical figure!"

The blue-haired man seemed confused by his words, muttering, "That… that's truly amazing!"

Seeing him somewhat intrigued, the Magikarp salesman continued, "This Magikarp sells for only ten thousand yuan. If it lays eggs just three times, you could earn hundreds of millions!"

"Only three times!?" The blue-haired man was clearly swayed, exclaiming in surprise, "Wouldn't I become a billionaire very quickly then!?"

"That's why I say it produces gold!" The Magikarp salesman said with a 'you've struck gold' expression. "How about it? Right now, it's a promotional price. This Magikarp usually sells for ten thousand, but with the egg-laying kit, breeding kit, and nurturing kit, I'll give it all to you for thirty thousand yuan!?"

This scene! This situation!

Isn't this James of Team Rocket, and that eloquent Magikarp salesman?! Ethan could barely believe his eyes. He had actually stumbled upon this legendary, infamous moment!

He still didn't understand why James, who clearly came from a wealthy family, would be so swayed by money.

Seeing James take out his wallet, seemingly about to buy the Magikarp, Ethan couldn't help but clear his throat and walk over.

"Excuse me, sir, how about you sell me this Magikarp for 500 yen?"

"What did you say!?" The Magikarp salesman waved his hand, looking impatient. "Go on, go on! This is a gold-producing Magikarp! How could I possibly sell it to you for 500 yen?!"

"Produces gold?" Ethan rubbed his chin, carefully examining the Magikarp splashing in the water. "But it looks no different from the Magikarp in the river. Sir, are you mistaken? This common Pokémon is practically everywhere, in lakes and in the sea. You can catch one with just a fishing rod. Besides me, who else would buy one?"

James's body stiffened, as if he had come to his senses: "A common Magikarp? No one would buy it?"

Seeing James waver, the Magikarp salesman quickly explained, "Hey, hey, young man, don't listen to his nonsense! This Magikarp of mine is different from other Magikarp. Gold! It produces gold!"

"Oh? Is that so?" Ethan scoffed. "If that's the case, then why haven't you become a multimillionaire yet, old man, still selling Magikarp here?"

At this, James finally understood completely.

"You scoundrel! You dared to deceive me!"

He savagely kicked the fish tank, then nodded gratefully at Ethan before storming away. Seeing this, Ethan also put his hands behind his back and turned to continue forward, but the Magikarp salesman reached out and stopped him.

"Hey, we have no grudge between us! Why did you ruin my business!?"

Ethan tilted his head and looked at him. "Ah, I apologize, but I have an excellent impression of that person, and I simply couldn't bear to see him deceived. If you want to sell, go sell it to the next 'fated person'."

After saying this, he prepared to walk around the Magikarp salesman, but as soon as he took a step, he was stopped again.

"You can't just walk away! You ruined my business, so you have to buy it!"

Perhaps fearing Ethan would run off, the Magikarp salesman reached out to grab Ethan's sleeve. But Kirlia stepped forward, its eyes slowly gathering light, staring coldly at him. Its expression seemed to indicate that if the Magikarp salesman's hand extended even a bit further towards Ethan, it would immediately launch a Confusion attack.

The Magikarp salesman was startled and quickly pulled back his arm.

Ignoring him, Ethan looked back at the Magikarp. This Magikarp, even if James hadn't kicked it in the end, was, by his experience, probably close to evolving. If he bought it, he believed it wouldn't be long before he had a Gyarados. It was definitely a good deal.

"You have a point. In that case, sell it to me for 500 yen."

This price wasn't just pulled out of thin air by Ethan. He knew that in other places, Magikarp indeed only sold for that much, completely in line with market prices.

"500 yen?" The Magikarp salesman frowned, displeased. "I could have sold it for 30,000 yen just now!"

Seeing Ethan's unmoving expression, and after a long stalemate, the Magikarp salesman's eyes darted around, and he finally sighed, "Alright, fine, 500 it is. I'll take the loss and sell it to you."

Ethan is once again using his foresight to his advantage, not only saving James from a scam but also acquiring a potentially strong Magikarp for himself at a bargain price! He seems to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time.

What do you think will happen to this newly acquired Magikarp? Will it evolve into a powerful Gyarados soon, and how will it fit into Ethan's growing team?
