Dragging his weary body, Ethan arrived at the Pokémon Center in Vermilion City. After entrusting his Pokémon to Nurse Joy and their treatment was complete, he returned to the Sakuragi Institute.

Along the way, chaos was everywhere. Due to the power plant's explosion, as Professor Sakuragi had mentioned on the phone, large areas around the Sakuragi Institute were experiencing blackouts. Traffic, dining, and work were all severely affected. He even saw Officer Jenny, with her Growlithe, directing traffic in the middle of the road. Fortunately, critical buildings like the Sakuragi Institute and the Pokémon Center had their own backup power, so they wouldn't shut down for now.

Upon seeing Professor Sakuragi, Ethan briefly recounted the events. Hearing that he had encountered Zapdos, Professor Sakuragi even stood up in surprise.

"You actually encountered the legendary Pokémon, Zapdos!?"

Seeing Ethan nod, Professor Sakuragi quickly calmed down and continued, "So that's why the institute frequently had power outages; it was caused by Zapdos. But since an explosion occurred, I imagine that Zapdos won't appear again. As for the power room, I'll call the power company right away and have them send people to repair and replace the units."

"Actually…" Ethan scratched his head, "I also took the opportunity to catch Zapdos."

"What!?" Professor Sakuragi almost choked on his own saliva. He coughed twice, utterly shocked. "You caught it!?"

"Yes," Ethan took out the Poké Ball containing Zapdos and shook it in front of Professor Sakuragi to prove his words were true. "However, to avoid unnecessary trouble, please keep this a secret for me, Professor."

After taking a deep breath, Professor Sakuragi adjusted his composure and nodded. He also knew that this matter should not be publicized. "Don't worry, I'll keep my mouth shut until you decide to reveal it."

At this, Ethan tentatively asked, "Professor, when a Trainer carries more than six Pokémon, newly caught Pokémon are automatically sent to the institute. Is there any way to change this setting?"

Hearing Ethan's question, Professor Sakuragi chuckled, "What? Are six Pokémon not enough for you?"

"Under normal circumstances, of course, it's enough," Ethan said, gesturing for Professor Sakuragi to look at the Poké Ball in his hand. "But in situations like this, when it's inconvenient to store it elsewhere and I have to carry it with me, it takes up an extra slot, which greatly restricts normal battles."

Professor Sakuragi suddenly understood: "You don't want to use Zapdos as a regular battle Pokémon, do you?"

"Exactly," Ethan explained. "For me, Kirlia and Ivysaur are like my 'open cards,' while a legendary Pokémon like Zapdos, being too conspicuous, is more of a 'hidden card' or what you might call a trump card. This interplay of open and hidden allows for true unpredictability and ensures constant success."

"I see, I understand your thinking now. That's a very prudent idea," Professor Sakuragi said, extending his hand to Ethan. "Come, give me your Pokédex."

Ethan handed his Pokédex to Professor Sakuragi. He connected the Pokédex to his computer, performed some operations, and then handed it back to Ethan. "Alright, I've changed your permissions. The Poké Ball carrying limit has been increased from 6 to 12. This way, in addition to your regular six Poké Balls, even if you catch any rare Pokémon in the future, you won't have to worry about them being suddenly transferred away."

Afternoon, Sakuragi Park.

Ethan opened the Poké Ball and released Zapdos. Since the park wasn't open to the public yet, he didn't have to worry about anyone seeing Zapdos and causing a commotion.

Zapdos flapped its wings, looking down at Ethan disdainfully. Ethan chuckled, "You were defeated by Pokémon weaker than yourself, and outnumbered. I know you're not happy about it, but it's alright. With time, I think you'll soon accept me!"

Zapdos raised its head, seemingly with great disdain. Ethan wasn't bothered by its attitude at all. "It's fine if you don't want to talk to me. But as my Pokémon, you need to be prepared. Since you're so powerful, you can be their sparring partner!"

With that, Ethan, without waiting for Zapdos's answer, shouted to his Pokémon, "Now, everyone attack together! All-out assault!"

With a furious cry, intense electric light suddenly flared within Sakuragi Park.

After a day's rest, Ethan slung his backpack over his shoulders and, with his Pokémon, left the Sakuragi Institute, preparing to head to the next Gym city. Suddenly, he heard someone calling his name from behind. He turned around and saw none other than Ash, Misty, and Brock!

Is this truly fate's arrangement, that the three of them would come together and travel, just like in the anime?

"You all reached Vermilion City so quickly?" Ethan chuckled when they approached him. "Next, are you going to challenge the Vermilion Gym?"

Ash rubbed his nose, then smugly unzipped his jacket, showing Ethan the three Badges pinned inside.

"The Boulder Badge, the Cascade Badge, and the Thunder Badge?" Ethan exclaimed in surprise, "You managed to get three Badges in just a few days? That's incredible speed!"

"It's nothing!" Ash laughed heartily. "My goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Getting three Badges is no difficult feat!"

"You're unbelievable," Misty said, frowning beside him. "That's only because we were kind enough to feel sorry for you and went easy on you in our battles, letting you get those Badges!"

Brock also nodded in agreement, "Exactly. It's better to be a bit more humble, you know."

Having just boasted, only to have his two companions expose the truth, Ash's face looked a bit awkward, but he just smiled it off, not taking it to heart at all.

Misty then clasped her hands behind her back and approached Ethan, greeting him. However, perhaps she didn't even realize it herself, but her tone was less willful than usual, replaced by a hint of shyness and excitement.

Ethan smiled brightly, "Two days apart, Misty, you seem even more beautiful than before."

Beside him, Brock also extended his right hand to Ethan.

"We haven't formally introduced ourselves yet. My name is Brock. A few days ago, I resigned from my position as Gym Leader and began traveling with Ash and Misty. Now, I'm striving to become a Pokémon Breeder."

"That's a very admirable ambition, but I also think becoming a Pokémon Doctor is a great choice too," Ethan shook his hand, then changed the subject and asked, "But if you'll forgive my impertinence, Brock, are you really only fifteen? You look… older than me."

Ethan's encounter with the legendary Zapdos resulted in a successful capture, and he's now managed to increase his carried Pokémon limit to 12. He's even using Zapdos as a training partner for his other Pokémon! He's also reunited with Ash, Misty, and Brock, noting their progress and even teasing Brock about his age.

What do you think will happen next for Ethan and his companions as they continue their respective journeys? Will Ethan reveal his new legendary Pokémon to his friends, or keep it a secret for now?
