After taking a few hits, Bulbasaur seized an opening, shaking its bulb and instantly releasing countless phosphorescent spores. These spores drifted without a breeze, covering half the field in just a breath.

Lt. Surge's expression changed slightly, and he urgently shouted, "Electabuzz, quickly dodge!"

However, Electabuzz was too close and caught off guard. It was directly showered with Sleep Powder. A powerful wave of drowsiness overcame it, completely irresistible. Its body stumbled, and it fell to the ground, fast asleep.

"Electabuzz! Wake up now!!"

Despite Lt. Surge's vigorous shouts, Electabuzz slept too soundly. No matter how anxious he became, his voice simply couldn't rouse Electabuzz's consciousness.

"It's all over now," Ethan gave Bulbasaur its final command. "Use Razor Leaf!"

Bulbasaur walked in front of Electabuzz, looking down at it. Razor Leaf converged above its head, then accurately and continuously struck Electabuzz. This attack directly dealt full damage! Electabuzz, assaulted, didn't even have time to wake up, transitioning directly from slumber to unconsciousness.

With a flash of blue light, Lt. Surge took out a Poké Ball and recalled Electabuzz.

However, just then, a light enveloped Bulbasaur. A few seconds later, a brand new form, Ivysaur, appeared on the field.

Bulbasaur had evolved into Ivysaur? For Ethan, this was indeed an unexpected surprise.

In appearance, Ivysaur didn't seem to have changed much compared to Bulbasaur, except its colors were deeper, and it had four banana-leaf-like green leaves around the bulb on its back.

Pokédex: "Beep. Ivysaur, the Seed Pokémon. Grass/Poison-type. It evolves from Bulbasaur. The more sunlight it absorbs, the more energetic it becomes. When the bulb on its back absorbs enough nutrients, a large flower will bloom."

"Congratulations," Lt. Surge walked slowly toward Ethan. Though defeated, there was no displeasure on his face. "Not only did you defeat me, but your Pokémon also evolved. You truly have gone from a 'Baby' to a formidable 'Boy'!"

Koharu also walked down from the stands and approached Ethan. From her expression, she seemed even happier than Ethan, but due to the presence of others, she said nothing. She simply knelt down and gently stroked Kirlia and Ivysaur to express her joy.

Lt. Surge took a Badge from his pocket and offered it to Ethan.

"The Thunder Badge. This is your well-deserved reward. Take it."

The Badge was shaped like an orange sun, radiating yellow light.

Ethan took the Badge, then turned to leave with Koharu. However, just as they reached the door, Lt. Surge suddenly called out to him again.

"Please wait. Take this too."

He pulled out a glistening small stone from his pocket and tossed it to Ethan. The stone arced perfectly through the air, but just as it was about to land in front of Ethan, it came to a stable halt in mid-air.

It was Kirlia, controlling it with Confusion! As a Pokémon fiercely loyal to its Trainer, it naturally wouldn't just watch anything strange approach Ethan.

Ethan examined the stone. It looked like a shining green gem, and through its crystalline surface, he could see a clear lightning-bolt symbol inside.

It's a Thunder Stone?

Ethan looked at Lt. Surge, puzzled, unsure of his intention.

"Take it," Lt. Surge chuckled, "As a Trainer I acknowledge, this Thunder Stone is my personal gift to you."

Ethan first paused, then a bright smile spread across his face as he thanked him, "Thanks a lot! I'll gladly accept!"

With that, as Ethan extended his hand, the stone gently settled into his palm.

By now, the sky outside had long turned to night. After leaving the Vermilion Gym, Ethan and Koharu followed the brightly lit streets back to the Sakuragi Institute.

Inside the institute, Professor Sakuragi hadn't left yet; he was busy at his computer. Hearing of Ethan's successful challenge at the Vermilion Gym, he was very pleased, and upon learning that Koharu had also gone to the Gym, his mouth dropped open in surprise.

"I never would have thought, Koharu, that you'd have a day where you'd enjoy Pokémon battles!"

"After seeing it firsthand, I realized that Pokémon battles are actually very interesting," Koharu said, instinctively glancing at Ethan. Without his invitation, she probably wouldn't have actively gone to watch a Pokémon battle.

Seeing that it was late outside, Ethan yawned, about to bid farewell to Professor Sakuragi and Koharu and return to his dorm. However, Professor Sakuragi reached out and stopped him.

"Oh, by the way, Ethan, if it's convenient, I'd like to ask you to check out the nearby power plant tomorrow."

"Power plant?" Ethan asked, surprised. "What about it?"

Professor Sakuragi explained, "The power for our Sakuragi Institute comes from an unmanned power plant on the outskirts. Although it's been vacant for many years, its electrical system has always been operating normally. But for some reason, the voltage has become very unstable these past few days, causing intermittent power outages, which constantly halt our research. I think some Electric-type Pokémon might have wandered in."

"An unmanned… power plant, you say…" Ethan nodded. "No problem, leave it to me."

Late at night, in the Sakuragi Institute dorm.

After a quick hot shower, Ethan lay shirtless on the soft bed. The bright light illuminated the simple blue-green wallpaper, making the dorm room feel very cozy. What's more, the amenities were fully equipped: a wardrobe, bookshelf, desk, and even a private bathroom, with a soft sofa on the side.

His Pokémon were playing nearby. Ethan picked up the Thunder Stone Lt. Surge had given him earlier that day. After a moment of thought, he beckoned to Eevee, who was nearby.

"Eevee, have you thought about your evolution path?"

Eevee tilted its head, looking at him innocently.

Playing with the Thunder Stone in his hand, Ethan continued, "Although your personality is a bit impatient, you're very fast. I think you'd be very suited to evolve into a Jolteon to maximize your strengths! But if you have another evolution in mind, I'll respect your choice!"

Eevee let out a soft cry. It looked at the Thunder Stone, seemingly deep in thought. After a moment's pause, it slowly approached and gently pressed its forehead against it.

The next second, accompanied by the humming of electricity, a dazzling bolt of electric light suddenly shone in the dorm!

Ethan has successfully defeated Lt. Surge and earned his Thunder Badge, marking his third Gym Badge! Not only that, but his Bulbasaur evolved into Ivysaur, and now it seems Eevee is undergoing an evolution into Jolteon! What a productive day for Ethan's team. He also has a new mission from Professor Sakuragi: investigate power outages at an unmanned power plant.

What do you think will happen when Ethan goes to the power plant? And how will his newly evolved Jolteon fare in future battles?
