I Kill to Get All SSS Abilities: From Outcast to Awakened

Chapter 108: Fugutives

Veins and bones started growing out from the flesh and expanded.

Igor opened his eyes wide and couldn't stop his excitement by going closer to see the process.

It was a dream come true for him.

Slowly, a new arm and hand had grown back onto Ashen.

Flickers of lights could be seen from the hand.

Igor quickly pressed another button and a mechanical arm with a syringe plunged it into Ashen's neck.

Within moments, Ashen opened his eyes groggily.

"Is it... done..." He said when he saw Igor's face popping into his vision.

"Yes, we are more than done." Igor said and waited for Ashen to get up.

His face gleamed with happiness, and he continued, "If there are no side effects then you are the first ever person to have a portion of the First Awakened's ability and powers from an Apex Level demonic beast.

"I've finally unlocked the everlasting powers from the First Awakened and demonic beasts."

Tsk.

Leeroy wasn't too impressed, and he said, "So, what does it mean? Can we go on a rampage everywhere now?"

Ashen raised his new arm and pointed his hand at Leeroy.

Bright lightning flashes engulfed his arm, sending out lightning strikes onto the surroundings.

"Well, hold on now. You don't have to do this." Leeroy raised his hands and said.

He had never seen something like it other than Athena. And he wasn't going to be the first one to find out how it feels to be blasted with many lightning strikes.

The lightning dissipated and Ashen put his arm down.

Just then, the door opened and two people came into the room.

One was a middle-aged man, dressed in a dark robe.

Beside him was someone that looked like his secretary, holding a folder in her hand.

The man in dark robe glanced at Ashen's new arm and he nodded.

"Well done, Igor.

"But this is just the first step of our plan.

"Being able to merge the First Awakened powers with an Apex Level demonic beast isn't enough for what's coming.

"We need to get more samples from the First Awakened and Abyssal or even Transcendent Level demonic beasts.

"Get ready for the next mission to harvest the First Awakened and Abyssal Level demonic beasts."

The man in dark robe said and the others nodded.

"But Dark Lord, what about Dr. Uwe? We need his research to enhance our devices before we are able to control and harvest the Abyssal Level demonic beasts." Igor asked.

The man in dark robe, the Dark Lord, glanced over at Ashen.

"That would depend on whether your experiment really works."

"Yes, Dark Lord. I will try my best with your gift." Ashen bowed with his new arm across his chest.

Leeroy raised his eyebrows as he watched from the side.

He wasn't interested in all the bullshit about getting more powerful for the eventual apocalypse that the Dark Lord had been droning on about for so long.

He just wanted to have fun.

...

Next day.

Lukas woke up to the smell of coffee.

Breakfast was ready, waiting for him.

"Morning everyone." He greeted everyone and joined them.

Riley then briefed everyone on what was happening for the day.

They would get to the awakened center to find Rodney together with Dr. Uwe and Margaret.

The ride to the Awakened Center wasn't pleasant.

Debris could still be seen.

Homeless folks loitered around, in the hope of finding something in the debris.

Some of the roads were still damaged and they had to make a detour to go around them.

Things weren't getting any better after they left for the West Battle Administration Area.

It was a stark contrast to the glittering lights and glamorous city they had seen at the West Battle Administration Area.

After two hours, they finally arrived at the Awakened Center.

The Awakened Center had regained its busyness.

Many awakened teams were in the lobby, trying to see if there were lucrative missions for them to take on.

However, there weren't any as Rodney had spent whatever he could on the rebuilding of the city.

"Welcome back. The Director has been waiting for you." Mandy said when she saw Lukas and the other team members enter the lobby.

She quickly led them to the elevator and pressed the button to Rodney's office.

When they entered Rodney's office, he was lighting up his cigar and giving out a long sigh.

The piles of documents on his desk remained uncleared.

So many things were yet to be done.

All that Secretary Hanselman did was to tell him more funds were coming and ghost him after that.

Even some of the relief food from the Central Administration was rotten.

It was then that he realized that he couldn't count on Secretary Hanselman anymore.

"Morning Director." Riley said as he led Dr. Uwe and Margaret forward.

"Rodney, long time no see. Still looking good." Dr. Uwe greeted Rodney.

"Uwe, thank God you are safe." Rodney stood up and gestured for them to take a seat.

He glanced at his secretary, and she quickly got to work making coffee.

"So, do you have any idea on what's in the device?" Rodney asked.

Dr. Uwe took out the report from the spectrometer machine and said, "This is all I've got, it's most likely blood from a demonic beast, but I need more confirmation."

"What do you need?" Rodney asked.

"A lab with the following research devices." Dr. Uwe said and passed Rodney a piece of paper with a list of all the research devices he needed to do his work.

Rodney frowned as the research devices looked alien to him.

He only had one person in mind who could help him, Albert.

Albert had connections to academia in the university here and in the Central Administration.

But would Albert agree to help? He pondered.

"I will try my best to see if I can do anything about it." Rodney gave out a long sigh and said.

Rodney's secretary came in with a pushcart and she handed everyone a cup of coffee.

Riley took a sip of the coffee and said, "And the thing about us being fugitives..."
