NOVEL WEB Chapter 102: Wind Apes
"We will have to get there in four hours' time. The plane can only wait for half an hour."
Riley briefed everyone on the plan and all of them frowned.
"Four hours' time, that would be nighttime by then." Emma said with a worried look.
"That's not our only worry as the destination is in the area where High Tiered demonic beasts roam." Lukas said and the other team members looked even more worried.
They might have to fight through Low, Mid and High Tiered demonic beasts to get home.
All of them glanced over at Lukas.
He was the only one among them to be able to handle High Tiered demonic beasts.
Their success depended a lot on him.
Lukas gave out a sigh, pointed to his insignia and said, "We are a team, remember."
He wasn't about to let Riley, Emma, Rex and Harianto get stuck out here.
After all, they were the ones who accepted him and gave him a new start.
His journey to become stronger wasn't as lonely with them around.
"Margaret can help. She was one of the best healers in West Battle Administration Area before she chose to live a much more peaceful life." Dr. Uwe said and Margaret nodded her head.
"We definitely can use some help." Lukas said and he glanced over at Riley.
After so many battles, he thought that it would be great if the team had a healer and it would be perfect.
Riley nodded at him as Riley also had the same idea.
This time if it wasn't for Margaret after the battle with the Shadow Lotus, some of them might have already perished.
And he would be in such pain and sadness if that were to happen.
"Hang on tight!" Harianto suddenly shouted and the armored van took a sharp turn as it skidded.
The terrain had changed, and the snowy surface was now covered with ice.
Bang.
The armored van crashed through the ice surface as it tumbled.
Lukas quickly held onto Dr. Uwe and Margaret, covering them from the knocks.
He could see the sky turned into ice and back to the sky again through the small window slit of the armored van.
The armored van had landed on its side.
"Everyone all right? We have to get the armored van back upright." Harianto said as he released the safety belt.
Luckily no one was hurt from this and they got out of the armored van.
Cold wind raged outside of the armored van.
Visibility was low as it brought along with it snow and white mist in the air.
Lukas and Rex got to the side of the armored van, squatted down and held onto the edge of the armored van.
Splatter.
Before Lukas could lift the armored van up, warm blood splattered onto him from behind.
Harianto was nailed to the ice surface by a long and thin ice needle.
The ice needle was around one inch in diameter and seventy inches long.
Strangely it was durable enough and didn't break when Harianto tried to break free from it.
"There's something out there." Lukas shouted and he held onto the ice needle.
He yanked at the ice needle and this time, with his enormous strength, the ice needle broke into pieces.
Thud.
Another ice needle shot at Lukas, and it missed, plunging into the armored van behind him.
The armor on the van wasn't tough enough for the ice needle.
Margaret quickly went over and healed Harianto's wound.
"Spread out." Lukas said and the team spread out in a line.
They needed to be able to spot where the ice needles were coming from.
The next moment, an ice needle shot at Emma.
She dodged it by mere inches.
"Over there!" Rex pointed at something that looked like an insect in front of him.
It looked like a water strider, but it was abnormally huge, as tall as an adult.
Lukas figured it was a Mid Tiered demonic beast.
Wham.
Lukas immediately unleashed two lightning strikes at it.
The water strider tried to slide away but the lightning strikes were too fast for it.
One of its legs got hit and it broke into pieces.
Lukas lunged at it, and he slammed his fist onto the water strider's head.
Thud.
The shell protecting the water strider's head cracked, making it go into a daze.
Lukas then held his palm onto the cracked shell.
Flickers of light appeared as lightning gathered.
Splatter.
He unleashed a lightning strike from close range and the head of the water strider was blown into pieces.
Before he could make his next move, Lukas saw three shadows approaching him from afar.
They stood on two legs and had huge forearms.
Roar.
They gave out a loud roar and the wind died down, revealing three demonic beasts that looked like apes with white fur.
Their eyes gave out a red glow and they lunged at Lukas.
Wham!
Riley unleashed a lightning strike at one of the wind apes.
It hit and burnt the right forearm of the wind ape.
But it didn't stop them as they opened their mouths and gave out gusts of wind strikes at Lukas.
The wind strikes twirled like tornadoes ripping apart the body of the water strider as they bore through it.
Lukas leaped to the side and the wind strikes missed.
The wind apes then clapped their hands together.
Blades of wind shot out from their hands in all directions.
Rex conjured a rock wall covering Riley and Emma.
Thud.
The blades of wind sliced halfway into the rock wall and stopped.
Beside them, Harianto pulled Dr. Uwe to the ground and Margaret leaped away.
Fortunately, none of them got hurt.
The three wind apes wanted to lunge at Lukas but couldn't.
Ice spikes shot at them from above.
They had to use their forearms and swing at the ice spikes.
As they were doing so, one of the wind apes felt a jerk on its ankle and it fell onto the ice surface.
Lukas had used his shadow wielder ability and pulled it to the ground.
Wham!
Lightning strikes came at the fallen wind ape, and they hit the wind ape.
The wind ape's head was blown into pieces.
Its warm blood with gray matter spattered onto the cold ice surface.
The body of the wind ape twitched and then lay motionless on the icy surface.
Roar.
The remaining two wind apes roared, and two twirling wind strikes shot at Lukas.
