Chapter 4: Royal family
After finishing his meal and gathering information about Dragon Feng City, Luo Yang made his way out of Tripod Tower. His mind churned with thoughts, plans, and half-formed ambitions.
"Red Feng Auction House… treasures from the Dragon Burial Mountain… and that Red Witch…" Luo Yang's gaze sharpened. "This city might be chaotic, but it's also full of opportunities."
The roads buzzed with people, carriages, spirit beasts, and market stalls, but Luo Yang ignored the noise as he walked with purpose. After weaving through several wide streets, a majestic structure finally came into view.
A towering building—no, a small palace—stood in the heart of the city, exuding grandeur and silent pressure. Its walls shimmered gold under the sunlight, with intricate crimson carvings of phoenixes and flames etched into its surface.
Even from a distance, it demanded respect.
"This place…" Luo Yang muttered under his breath, his steps slowing. "It could rival the Taj Mahal back on Earth. And this is just an auction house in a corner of the cultivation world?"
Indeed, compared to anything in his past life, this was a different universe of wealth and design.
Without hesitation, he approached the main entrance.
Two guards stood there in ceremonial armor, but neither moved to stop him. They simply glanced his way and said nothing. In this world, people weren't judged solely by their face—but by their aura, clothes, and bearing. Luo Yang looked like someone with backing.
"He has the air of a young master," one guard muttered mentally.
Still, as a precaution, one of them silently activated a talisman and transmitted a message:
"A noble-looking youth just entered. Unknown identity. Possible background."
Luo Yang walked through the wide open entrance, stepping into the outer hall of the Red Feng Auction House. The scene that greeted him was lively.
Stalls lined both sides of the massive corridor—some temporary, others permanent—offering a dazzling array of goods. From beast cores and rare herbs to mysterious talismans, spirit weapons, and cultivation pills. A constant hum of haggling filled the air.
Cultivators roamed freely, browsing or selling, but everything was well-organized. No one dared to cause trouble. After all, this was Red Feng territory, and the price for disrespect was often fatal.
"Looks like the outer area is a merchant square," Luo Yang thought. "Expensive to rent a stall, but probably worth it many time more than you think."
Before coming here, he has already gain all round details about this auction house from that waiter. So he did not waste his time and quickly make his way towards his way. His eyes quickly shifted toward the inner gate—an ornate set of crimson double doors guarded by two men in red and black armor. Unlike the outer gate, this one clearly required clearance.
That was where the true treasures were sold. Where status, wealth, and hidden power gathered.
Luo Yang didn't hesitate. He calmly walked toward the inner gate, his steps firm.
A few nearby vendors and guests noticed him.
"Someone's walking toward the VIP section?"
"Does he have a token?"
"I've never seen him before. New noble family or some idiot not knowing his power?"
The two guards at the gate watched Luo Yang approach. They subtly activated a detection charm but didn't find any known clan emblem. Still, the youth's presence gave them pause. His clothes, made of spirit beast silk, shimmered faintly. His expression was calm, confident, but not arrogant.
One of the guards stepped forward, giving a polite nod.
"Apologies, young master. We do not recognize your presence. Before entering the inner court, we must verify your background or credentials. May we ask your name, or see proof of access?"
The tone was respectful, not accusatory.
Luo Yang simply reached into his robe and pulled out a small golden-crimson token. It was no larger than a coin—round, smooth, and etched with an elegant dragon mouth pattern that glowed faintly. At its center was a character in ancient script: "Luo".
The guards froze.
Their eyes locked on the token as their faces drained of color.
For several heartbeats, silence reigned. Then, without hesitation, both men dropped to one knee and bowed their heads low.
"In the name of Red Feng Sect—we greet Your Highness!"
Gasps erupted from the nearby crowd.
"What? 'Your Highness'?!"
"That token… it's real?!"
"I've only heard rumors about that kind of token. This person is from royal family of Great Luo Dynasty!"
The guards didn't ask any more questions. The token spoke louder than any title or name. Only direct connection Great Luo Dynasty's royal family can obtain this token, this is the symbol of power. This person should be direct descendant of royal family.
"Why such a person come to this kind of place?" one of the guards thought, his heart racing.
Still kneeling, the senior of the two looked up slightly. "Your Highness, please forgive our earlier offense. The inner auction hall is open to you at any time. Shall I notify the leader?"
Luo Yang gave a faint smile. "Yes, i have been thinking to rest for sometime here."
The guards stepped aside instantly, pushing the grand doors open with a deep rumble.
Luo Yang walked through without another word, his token vanishing back into his robe.
"System," he said inwardly, "this token… who did this body belong to before?"
"Oh, now you're curious?" the System replied with a smirk. "Let's just say… the former Luo Yang wasn't as simple as he looked. And that token—well, you'll find out soon enough. But trust me, you're walking a path with deep shadows."
"As long as I did not die again," Luo Yang replied, "let them come."
Beyond the gates, a world of brilliance awaited him.
