I Don’t Want to Be Turned into a Girl by Magic

Ch. 158

Back to the student street. Although Lin Nan was already sick of coming here, unfortunately this was the only commercial street near the school that had everything for eating, drinking, and entertainment.

The school's back gate area also had everything for eating, drinking, and entertainment, but the scale was too small, a simple street that could be walked through in ten minutes, and it didn't even have a KTV. (TN: Karaoke)

Lin Nan walked absentmindedly, following behind his roommates, hiding in Chen Yao's shadow.

Although magic that permanently enhanced memory was indeed difficult to unlock with extremely high requirements, there were temporary ones! Even if the temporary ones weren't as good or effective, that was fine. There were still several weeks until the exam, so he had plenty of time.

Soon, just as Lin Nan entered the KTV private room, he found magic that suited his needs:

Speed Reading: Accelerate reading speed and deepen concentration.

He'd always felt that his poor memory wasn't due to a bad brain, but because he usually wasn't focused when reading books, always getting distracted, which made it difficult for him to remember knowledge from textbooks.

This was similar to most poor students. After all, in terms of talent, unless there was some brain disease, excluding a few geniuses and intellectually disabled people, most people were actually around the average line. The main reason for poor academic performance was lack of focus.

Not focused enough, no self-control, always wanting to play—these were the main reasons for poor memory and inability to memorize books.

And this magic perfectly solved the problem. The unlock method... confessing in public.

This magic unlock method seemed familiar? When unlocking invisibility magic last month, he'd seen this before. How was it appearing again?

Lin Nan looked more carefully. "Confess in public, then forcefully kiss."

So there were four more characters at the end that he'd unconsciously overlooked! This requirement was too excessive!

Lin Nan's face darkened, then he noticed the sky had also darkened. He looked up and found he'd already arrived inside the KTV private room, standing at the entrance in a daze.

Tu Junhui had turned off the lights in the room. Chen Yao seemed to have gone out to buy things, preparing to drink a little tonight. Xiong Da sat melancholically on the sofa, looking down at his phone.

A man wounded by love~

He sighed deeply, suddenly feeling that he couldn't rely on magic for everything. He'd been able to cram and memorize all the exam points during last semester's finals, so he could do it this semester without relying on magic too.

So he sat confidently on the sofa and took out his phone. Tu Junhui had gotten the exam points from Lin Yuan in the afternoon and sent them to his phone.

He was prepared to use all his spare time for studying!

Two minutes later, he decided to give up.

Why work hard when you could cheat! Besides, cheating was just to escape his current neither-male-nor-female gender situation!

Lin Nan righteously switched his phone to a novel page, but then saw the private room door being pushed open.

"Xiong Da, you shouldn't drink, right?" Chen Yao followed the KTV server pushing a cart into the room, placing the food and beer from the cart onto the table. "You're allergic to it."

However, Xiong Da completely ignored Chen Yao's words, silently grabbed a bottle of beer and started drinking.

After just a few sips, his already somewhat alcohol-allergic face quickly began turning red.

How had a perfectly fine bald little handsome guy become like this? Love really was deadly.

Lin Nan marveled at the sight. Although he wanted to comfort him, Xiong Da hadn't emerged from the shadow of romance for a whole month. For what was likely his first love to turn out like this…

He also grabbed a bottle of beer, but before he could open it, Chen Yao suddenly turned around and glared at him.

Chen Yao almost completely treated him like a girl now, while Tu Junhui and Xiong Da still just considered him a somewhat femme fatale-like man.

"It's to celebrate Xiong Da's birthday... I won't get drunk that easily from beer." Lin Nan smiled sheepishly, holding the beer bottle as he retreated to a corner of the sofa.

"Whatever." Chen Yao rolled his eyes. He'd discovered that all three of his roommates seemed to be troublesome.

Lin Nan needn't be mentioned—this guy had suddenly become feminine starting this semester, clearly a girl but always considering himself a man due to his deformity. Xiong Da had been depressed for a month because of one failed online romance where he'd nearly been tricked into a pyramid scheme. Tu Junhui liked to talk nonsense and was never reliable.

Perhaps I'm the only normal person in this entire dorm.

After the server placed all the purchased snacks and beer on the table, they left. Perhaps bored of just drinking, Tu Junhui excitedly moved in front of the song selection tablet.

"What songs do you want to sing? I'll pick them for you." He was clearly a KTV veteran, casually selecting "Love Is Not a Choice," then turning back to look at Lin Nan. "Nan Nan, want to sing 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau'?"

"You're trying to kill me."

Lin Nan grimaced as he drank his beer. Although this stuff was easier to drink than the rum he'd had before, for some reason, the taste was really hard to accept.

How could anyone like drinking alcohol?

If it weren't for unlocking magic, he'd have no interest in alcohol at all.

Tu Junhui began his howling like a ghost. This guy never cared whether he was on key when singing. He'd just open his throat and roar, making Lin Nan's ears hurt.

If he remembered correctly, he'd been to KTV-type places less than four times.

He really couldn't fit into such noisy places that made your ears hurt.

Lin Nan sighed deeply. Two bottles of beer were already in his stomach, but he only felt his cheeks getting slightly warm, no feeling of being drunk at all.

He turned to look at Xiong Da huddled in the corner silently drinking, then at Chen Yao sitting beside Xiong Da seemingly offering gentle comfort, and suddenly an inexplicable jealousy surged up.

I thought you were only warm to me.

Although he knew Chen Yao did have the potential to be a central air conditioner, he still felt inexplicably jealous.

He pouted unhappily. The noise from Tu Junhui made him feel even more irritated, but he couldn't say much about it. He grabbed another bottle of beer and silently drank while eating chips.

Speaking of which, his singing ability was actually quite terrible. He couldn't sing without following the original vocals. He'd either forget lyrics or go off-key, completely lacking musical talent.

What was worse, he'd often get lost in his own singing voice, but when recorded, the sound was extremely grating to the ears.

Fortunately, he'd known this early on, otherwise he would have embarrassed himself at KTV before.

In the time of one song, two bottles of beer went down. Drinking too fast, Lin Nan couldn't help but feel his head getting dizzy.

After Tu Junhui finished singing, Chen Yao suggested, "Since it's Xiong Da's birthday today, how about we all sing 'Happy Birthday' together?"

Lin Nan felt this kind of thing was a bit too childish and was about to shake his head, but saw Tu Junhui unhesitatingly nod twice quickly: "Sure, let me find it."

Tu Junhui then looked at Xiong Da, who still had that lifeless expression. Helplessly, he took out the gift he'd brought from his pocket: "Here, this is for you."

Holy shit? Tu Tu actually prepared a gift?

Lin Nan looked completely confused as he patted his empty pockets. Never mind a gift, all he had on him was a phone.

"Didn't you always want to play Monster Hunter World? I bought you a physical copy set." Chen Yao smiled. "The delivery will arrive in a couple days."

Xiong Da took Tu Junhui's gift and looked down to find it was an exquisite Zippo lighter.

His mood gradually lifted as he looked up and scanned the three of them.

Lin Nan was still confused, Chen Yao held the microphone ready to sing, and Tu Junhui looked proud, thinking he'd chosen the best gift.

Xiong Da was silent for a moment, then showed a long-lost smile and looked at Lin Nan: "You didn't prepare a gift for me, right?"

"How about..." Lin Nan looked around, finally grabbing an unopened bag of chips and handing it over. "Let's just use this as a gift?"

He felt extremely guilty and added, "I'll make it up to you in a couple days..."
