Ch. 157
One month wasn't very long for a university student.
Going to class and leaving class every day, eating meals and playing games—a day would pass just like that. After repeating this thirty times, a month's time had vanished in the blink of an eye.
Compared to Chen Yao and these other slacker university students who played games every day and had only improved their rankings over the past month while gaining more games, Lin Nan was different. Because he was still developing, he seemed somewhat prettier than a month ago, and his chest measurements had also grown a bit.
The temperature had gradually dropped to around twenty degrees Celsius, giving him more reason to wear thick outer jackets and hide his increasingly swelling chest.
Probably an A cup now?
He'd never measured, but if compared with fruit, maybe an apple?
He didn't know if other girls in their developmental period also developed as rapidly as him, but no matter what questions arose about his body, he could blame it all on magic and Lilith.
It was definitely because of Lilith that his development was so fast.
Finals were approaching, and Lin Nan was starting to consider getting a memory enhancement magic to deal with the final exams.
Although this school didn't have particularly strict regulations about things like skipping class, according to the academic advisor, as long as you didn't skip more than one-third of a semester's classes and didn't encounter those serious, strict teachers, then as long as you got a passing grade on the final exam, the teachers wouldn't make things too difficult.
But the problem was, even a passing grade was hard!
Back in elementary school, Lin Nan would feel like an idiot if he didn't score ninety points. In middle school with the 150-point system, he just hoped to get 120 or above. But now in university, he only wanted to pass.
One point more was wasted effort, two points less meant failing.
For this reason, he looked expectantly at Xiong Da, who was standing on the balcony smoking.
This guy had run off to meet his online girlfriend two months ago. His girlfriend wasn't the tank or actual male that Lin Nan had imagined... but rather someone caught in a pyramid scheme who had nearly trapped Xiong Da in it too.
Who knew why an online romance would turn out so surreal.
After finally returning, Xiong Da had been depressed and melancholy. Originally a non-smoker, he now steadily went through half a pack a day, and had lost his former motivation, spending class time either spacing out or playing games.
"Xiong Da, the exam key points and notes?" Although Lin Nan knew he was heartbroken, he still asked hopefully, "You should have organized them, right?"
"No." Xiong Da looked up melancholically at a forty-five-degree angle to the sky.
This guy...
Lin Nan had no temper with him and could only turn his gaze to Chen Yao and Tu Junhui.
Those two had recently become obsessed with a game similar to League of Legends called Dota 2, huddling together every day studying item builds and how to beat high-difficulty bots. Lin Nan found the game's art style didn't quite match his aesthetic preferences, so he hadn't joined in the fun.
"Tu Tu, Chen Yao, are you two just going to be so carefree with finals approaching?" Lin Nan couldn't understand their thinking and sighed helplessly. "Xiong Da won't help us organize exam points for review anymore. What are we going to do for finals?"
"I'll go ask other people." Tu Junhui had an outgoing personality, which led to him being familiar with almost all classmates in the class. He looked up, frowning as he asked, "Lin Yuan seems to have pretty good grades?"
Lin Nan hadn't paid much attention to Lin Yuan from the neighboring dorm. His interactions with him were usually limited to topics about the kitten, so he really didn't know how his grades were.
"You go ask him."
"Alright."
Exam points and such were actually okay. The teachers would mention some during regular classes and highlight key points near finals. But the problem was that Lin Nan's memory really wasn't very good.
His memory had never been good to begin with, and after encountering Lilith, he discovered that two idiots don’t make a genius…
Although Lilith was a witch who sounded quite powerful, this girl's memory was appallingly bad. Fortunately, she was in a magical world where she could use magic to compensate for deficiencies.
Just like how Lilith had originally been only an A cup but later became a magnificent C cup or larger.
Lin Nan also wanted to use magic to enhance his memory, but this type of magic seemed quite advanced. Even if he unlocked advanced magic, it would be like a three-year-old driving a truck. He'd be lucky not to die.
So he tried to find something simpler with the same effect.
"Nan Nan."
Looking up, Lin Nan noticed Chen Yao leaning against his wardrobe. He paused for a moment and asked, "What's up?"
Over this past month, although Lin Nan's body continued changing due to his development, overall it wasn't as dramatic as the changes the day after unlocking magic.
Chen Yao, who spent day and night with him, naturally couldn't notice anything, but...
He could finally accept Lin Nan's sometimes inexplicably male behaviors and mannerisms combined with that face really created quite a sense of dissonance.
"Today is Xiong Da's birthday. Want to go to KTV tonight?"
"Huh? It's his birthday?" Lin Nan had no idea. "I never heard him mention it."
"It was around this time last year. I set a reminder on my phone."
Really?
Lin Nan had never noticed that Chen Yao was so attentive to his roommates. He was practically a total warm-hearted guy, wasn't he?
"I spent over five hundred yuan treating you guys to a hotpot for my last birthday! I've got to eat that money back no matter what!" Chen Yao grumbled angrily, his tone full of indignation. "Xiong Da just treated us to a barbecue for his last birthday! Tu Junhui was decent, his two birthdays together balanced out. But you... you've never treated me even once for your birthday!"
The slight emotion that had just risen in Lin Nan's heart immediately settled back down. So you're just upset about taking a loss?
"I don't usually celebrate birthdays. I can't remember." Lin Nan's birthday was during summer vacation. If someone reminded him it would be fine, but generally he would only realize a few days after his birthday that it had been his birthday several days ago.
And his parents had never paid attention to his birthday at all.
"It's fine, I'll celebrate it for you next year. When is your birthday?"
"Let me check my ID card!" Lin Nan jumped up and ran to his wardrobe to look for his ID card, muttering, "I forgot my lunar calendar birthday, so let's just celebrate the solar calendar one. They're all the same anyway."
How long had it been since he celebrated a birthday?
Chen Yao knew Lin Nan's parents didn't care much about him, but he hadn't expected it to reach this extent.
It wasn't like they were too poor to afford food. They were too lazy to even celebrate their own child's birthday. With Lin Nan's personality, he'd probably be overjoyed just being taken out for a good meal on his birthday. It wouldn't be troublesome at all.
"August 9th!"
"That's pretty easy to remember." Chen Yao wrote a reminder note on his phone, afraid he'd forget later, then brought up Xiong Da's situation again. "Xiong Da's been in a bad mood lately. If we can surprise him with a party..."
Before he could finish speaking, Lin Nan had already opened the back door and called out to Xiong Da, who was smoking on the balcony: "How about we go to KTV tonight to celebrate your birthday?"
"..." Chen Yao looked completely helpless, while Xiong Da outside the door looked utterly confused.
