I Created Scientific Magic

Chapter 637: The storm is the cry of the gods, the thunder is the fury of the gods!

On Tri-Star Day, on top of the festival to honor the gods, Mukarde, the great Prophet of the Broad-eyed Beast tribe, gazed at the sky obscured by dark clouds, his mood sinking to the extreme.

According to the records in the scriptures, every four years at this time, three suns would rise simultaneously on the other side of the sea, forming the spectacle known as the Triple Rise.

But this time, the situation was particularly different. The sky was covered with nothing but dark clouds, and a powerful storm appeared to be gathering within them.

This kind of bad weather had persisted for hundreds of days, to the extent that the recent generations of Broad-eyed Beasts had lived and died without ever seeing the Sun, and the intermittent heavy rain posed a tremendous challenge to the survival and reproduction of the tribe.

Thus, the great Prophet Mukarde had been waiting, hoping for the miracle of the Triple Rise to disperse all the gloom. Unfortunately, looking at the current Celestial Phenomenon, Mukarde realized that his hopes were likely to be dashed.

The noisy 'gurgling' continuously echoed near the coastline, and the Broad-eyed Beasts who had gathered to attend the festival were also somewhat anxious, their eyes intently fixed on Mukarde and others on stage, expecting these divinely inspired prophets to provide an explanation.

Especially concerning when the spreading stormy weather would subside, as good weather was necessary for hunting, fishing, livestock, and agriculture.

The great Prophet Mukarde, with his hollow eyes, stared down at the restless Broad-eyed Beasts below, and after a moment of contemplation, his loud voice soon resonated.

"This is a warning from the gods, my people!"

"The storm is the gods' outcry, the thunder is the gods' wrath..."

"Clearly... this weather, this is the great gods' punishment on our entire tribe!"

The words of the great Prophet sent a ripple of shock through the hundreds of thousands of gathered Broad-eyed Beasts, fear solidifying in every mind. Occasionally, someone nervously asked the great Prophet what they had done wrong to offend the gods and thus bring about this wrath.

The great Prophet Mukarde raised his staff high, silencing the crowd, then raised his voice even a few notches higher, sorrowfully saying, "The reason for this divine punishment is because cracks have appeared in our faith..."

"As our tribal territory and population expanded, more and more Broad-eyed Beast tribes have strayed from their original intentions, even disregarding the gods' protection and guidance, provoking wars between tribes, and wantonly killing... This is a betrayal of divine grace!"

The more Mukarde spoke, the more agitated he became, and the Broad-eyed Beasts gathered at the seaside quickly became engrossed in his words, not doubting what the great Prophet said at all, especially since the storm appeared and spread during the most intense period of tribal wars.

However, just then, a harsh shouting voice very abruptly interrupted the great Prophet's impassioned speech.

"Lies, these are all lies!"

The piercing and sharp voice instantly drew everyone's attention, with the great Prophet Mukarde being no exception; he was utterly shocked that someone dared to contradict his words in public.

Contrary to everyone's expectation, the one who spoke was the leader of a major tribe.

"Are you questioning the divine revelation, Shago?" Mukarde recognized him too, and although he was blind, the wind always told him the answers.

Mukarde's rebuke could be described as harsh. Blasphemy, in the Broad-eyed Beast tribe, was an unforgivable sin, and even tribal leaders were subject to the most severe punishment.

Yet Shago was not at all intimidated and shouted angrily, "There is no divine revelation, Mukarde! You have deceived us, deceived everyone..."

Just as the Broad-eyed Beasts were in uproar, Shago raised his hand high, and fierce flames burst forth from his palm as he roared, "This is the proof!"

Mukarde's calm expression suddenly turned extremely ugly.

In the mouths of the Prophets, Magic was a gift from the gods, bestowed only upon the most devout Believers who had to offer their precious eyesight of the Broad-eyed Beasts as a tribute to qualify for studying and mastering it.

And now, Shago had mastered Magic without any guidance, without directly gazing upon the three Suns to receive divine grace!

Watching the flames erupting from Shago's palm, all the present Broad-eyed Beasts were horrified, even some of the Prophets wore an expression of disbelief, and a crack appeared in their once unshakable faith.

They had given up their proud ability of farsightedness to gain the ability to control flames, and now Shago was telling them that none of these excruciating sacrifices were necessary. How could they possibly accept that?

"Lies, these are all lies!" "There is no divine revelation, it is these Prophets who have misinterpreted the will of the gods, provoking their wrath!" "They are the blasphemers!"

The other tribes' leaders also seized the opportunity to make their move, shouting loudly before leading their guards towards the stage.

This was undoubtedly a power transition that had been planned in advance.

Since the first Prophets witnessed the miracles, the authority of the gods reigned supreme over secular power, and even the appointments and dismissals of the tribal leaders had to obey the 'god's' will.

Fearful of the divine might, many tribal leaders had no choice but to bite their tongue. Now, they finally saw their chance!

The series of adverse weather conditions made life unbearable for the Broad-eyed Beasts living on this continent, and the dozens of prayers and sacrifices by the Prophets had no effect whatsoever, stirring more and more doubts. Thus, this grand ceremony became the perfect opportunity!

"Kill these traitors!" High Prophet Mukarde, shaken and furious, waved his staff, emitting a powerful stream of fire, killing several approaching Broad-eyed Beast dead warriors.

However, other Prophets, accustomed to a life of luxury, were completely caught off guard.

Due to the bad rainy weather, the air became extremely moist, greatly weakening the power of the flames. Many Prophets didn't even have time to cast their Magic before they were toppled by sharp bone spears…

Blood and screams continuously echoed along the shore, and tens of thousands of corpses dyed the nearby seawater crimson.

In fact, this scene was not only occurring at the coast, well-prepared tribal leaders had also arranged people inside the tribe to confiscate and kill the Prophets' followers.

Even though they seized the initiative at the grand ceremony, it was not enough to dissolve the profound influence of these god-named Prophets on the tribes.

A monumental war soon broke out on this continent, and within just a few days, the vast alliance of Broad-eyed Beast tribes instantly crumbled, plunging into a prolonged civil war.

The endless killings also gave rise to a vast number of souls, a power so immense that it filled every corner of this continent.

Meanwhile, Lynn's action to consolidate her sacred office was also nearing its end…
