I can rewind time to prevent death

Chapter 485: Darkness Descends_3

"Alright." Yan Junze nodded.

Although it was already late at night, he was feeling an urgency in his heart, unwilling to wait any longer. Moreover, from what Kurosawa Tsuyoshi had said, it seemed that the God of Death was in M&R City.

"Kitahara," Kurosawa Tsuyoshi instructed Daisuke Kitahara. "Set aside the matter of handling Junichi Eki's corpse for now. Take Mr. Yan Junze to the 'Chuan Area' immediately. I'll record a video for the God of Death. Once you arrive at the Chuan Area, play it for the God of Death, and he'll naturally understand."

"Thank you!" Yan Junze nodded slightly.

Daisuke Kitahara took out his phone and began recording a video of Kurosawa Tsuyoshi. Kurosawa Tsuyoshi, sitting cross-legged, looked directly into the camera and delivered a speech in Japanese. His expression remained solemn and meticulous throughout the process, with his hands resting on his knees and unmoving.

About two minutes later, the recording was finished.

"Mr. Yan, follow Daisuke Kitahara to the Chuan Area. He will take care of everything." Kurosawa Tsuyoshi looked at Yan Junze.

Yan Junze expressed his thanks but immediately asked, "Then the God of Death… will he understand Chinese..."

Before he finished speaking, Kurosawa Tsuyoshi nodded. "Don't worry, Mr. Yan. In his earlier years, the God of Death worked as a trade translator for a Chinese export company in Japan's Great Capital."

Yan Junze suddenly understood.

Daisuke Kitahara was highly efficient; he and Yan Junze left immediately without even bothering to take a sip of water.

Walking out of the Ito family's estate and onto the street, they entered an off-road vehicle parked nearby. Kitahara sat in the driver's seat and quickly started the engine, driving in a specific direction.

Unconsciously, Yan Junze turned back to glance at the defenses of the Ito family's estate, his brow slightly furrowing.

Not long after, he summoned the Spacetime Atlas in his mind. Finding no abnormalities or text prompts, he couldn't help but feel a moment of doubt.

At this moment, Kitahara suddenly said a sentence in Japanese. Yan Junze realized it was directed at him and quickly took out the translator from his backpack, turning it on to interpret.

Kitahara repeated, "The God of Death is actually not in M&R City. What's here is merely one of his physical avatars."

Yan Junze froze for a moment and asked, "What kind of place is this Chuan Area?"

"A cemetery," Kitahara replied.

Yan Junze was stunned, then asked again, "The God of Death's physical avatar—is it manifested on a corpse?"

Kitahara abruptly turned to look at him, then turned back to focus on the road ahead. After a moment, he said, "The God of Death has actually been dead for a long time."

"What!" Yan Junze exclaimed in shock, his mind swirling with questions.

At this moment, a thought suddenly struck him. He turned back again to gaze at the now-distant Ito family estate and once more scrutinized the Spacetime Atlas within his mind.

The Atlas was operating normally, with nothing visibly amiss.

Yet Yan Junze felt increasingly uneasy. He asked Kitahara, "Earlier, did you notice anything unusual about Junichi Eki's corpse?"

Kitahara paused briefly, then shook his head. "It was a very ordinary corpse. Aside from its horrifying and grotesque cause of death, I didn't detect anything unusual."

After a moment, he added, "If something were wrong with the corpse, the teacher would have already noticed. We wouldn't need to worry excessively."

Yan Junze nodded slightly.

Kitahara's observation was correct. The Reaper's perception and detection of strangenesses would undoubtedly be sharper. Thus, Junichi Eki's corpse, retrieved from the freezer, was unlikely to evolve into anything anomalous.

In the case of the Multi-limbed Being, its resentment had dissipated once its corpse was exhumed and its grievances redressed.

But why hadn't the Spacetime Atlas displayed a task completion message yet?

"Something must be off!" Yan Junze muttered under a furrowed brow, momentarily setting aside his puzzlement about the God of Death's perplexing identity.

Two or three minutes later, as he pondered deeply, Yan Junze suddenly jolted as if struck by lightning. He grabbed Kitahara's arm on the steering wheel.

"Daisuke, turn back! Quickly, we need to return!"

Kitahara was stunned.

A moment later, the off-road vehicle screeched to a halt with an abrupt brake. Disregarding traffic rules, it made a sharp U-turn on the spot, its engine roaring as it retraced its path.

Back at the Ito family estate, inside the tea room.

Kurosawa Tsuyoshi prepared a fresh pot of tea for himself. Just as he was about to pour it into a delicate teacup, faint footsteps echoed from outside.

He lifted his head and called out, "Is that you, Yuko?"

There was no response from the figure outside.

Kurosawa Tsuyoshi then saw a silhouette standing by the sliding door to the tea room. The figure appeared slim, resembling Yuko's outline.

"Yuko?" Kurosawa Tsuyoshi called out again.

In his line of sight, the sliding door was slowly opened, but only slightly—a narrow gap was revealed before it stopped.

Moments later, a slender arm reached in through the opening. The arm did not pause and seemed familiar with the layout of the room.

It felt its way to the location of the light switch, and with a click, turned off the tea room's lights.
