Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Returning Raditz
Walking through the vast information flow, Raditz felt like he was facing the entire universe. It reminded him of his first time boarding a spaceship and entering space—that same feeling of insignificance and awe that rises spontaneously when confronting the endless unknown and the vast starry sky.
The inside of Boundless's chip was just as infinitely vast as the cosmos itself.
Raditz's mental power traversed through it at an unbelievable speed, uncovering more truth from the hidden information banks.
The so-called "evolution" chip was actually a weapon. The original Tumatians had intended to use this chip to create humanoid war machines, but by accident, they discovered Boundless's other functions and decided to put it into mass production instead.
Tumat's rise to power started from that moment. Using Boundless's powerful absorption and evolution capabilities, they invaded several planets, manufactured countless mechanical arms, and sold weaponry to other galaxies, expanding their influence through arms trafficking and colonization.
If any planets refused to trade with Tumat, they would face devastating attacks from Boundless until they were forced to become Tumat's dependent territories.
Through this continuous expansion, Boundless's evolutionary instinct began to develop autonomous consciousness, gradually controlling the planet and converting it to metal. The terrified Tumatians, realizing they stood at the precipice of destruction, activated an emergency shutdown program buried deep within the chip and destroyed it.
However, after the chip's destruction, the Tumatian suffered greatly as the oppressed cosmic nations attacked them one after another, causing the planet's decline. What had been preserved in their history was only the glorious era, with all records of aggression and downfall erased. This led later generations of Tumatians to arrogantly attempt to recreate that "golden age of civilization."
The remaining fragments of the chip, which had recorded all this data, remained locked in the depths of Tumat. It wasn't until research resumed that these memory fragments were accessed and the enormous data imported into a new chip, giving birth to the current Boundless.
This new Boundless was an exact copy of its predecessor—meaning it also contained an emergency shutdown procedure! Raditz's mental power surged wildly as he searched through the entire chip, desperate to find the program.
...
The planet's interior began to shake violently. The doors of all secret rooms swung open, the energy supply to the prisoner cages failed, and the defensive shields disappeared. The lights flickered constantly between red and white as cracks appeared in the walls!
Everyone screamed, believing the end had come.
"What's happening?"
"We're going to be buried alive!"
"I'm going to die!"
Just then, Goku stood up and quieted everyone's panic with a shout: "Hey! Everyone, the doors are open—escape now! We've been saved!"
"Huh?" Many people looked around the violently shaking room as if waking from a dream.
They saw the gates were indeed open, but no one dared to be the first to leave. If this was just another of Boundless's games, there could be guards waiting outside, ready to shoot anyone who appeared.
Vegeta didn't hesitate at all and rushed out first, followed by Goku, Piccolo, and the others. When everyone saw this, they hurriedly followed—if these powerful fighters were leaving, staying behind would mean certain death.
All patrolling soldiers along the way had frozen in place. Artillery weapons shattered into slag, electronic screens and barriers exploded, spewing sparks everywhere. Almost all defensive measures had shut down, the transport room door stood open, and there were no obstacles in front of the portal.
Goku let the prisoners go through the portal first, while his group followed behind.
"Seems like Raditz pulled it off. Tch, that guy!" Vegeta gritted his teeth, reluctant to admit they'd been saved because of Raditz.
"Haha, I was right," Goku said happily. "If my brother was the one making the move, he'd definitely solve the problem."
"Hmph, I guess he did come through."
Piccolo crossed his arms with a smile that couldn't quite be defined.
Regardless, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Once all the experimental subjects had passed through the portal, they emerged into the outside world. The orange-haired girl looked around and suddenly asked, "Wait, where is Mr. Raditz now?"
Everyone froze and quickly turned around. In the distance, they saw numerous metal buildings collapsing. The mechs that had just been transmitted had turned to scrap iron, and a large section of the distant planet had broken off, becoming fragments drifting in space.
The destruction was more extensive than they'd expected—it was as if the entire planet was being torn apart!
And Raditz was still missing.
The roar of explosions grew louder as rebels rushed out of their base, exclaiming in surprise when they spotted Goku and the others. Vladi had installed positioning devices for them before their departure—signals that had been blocked inside the planet but activated immediately upon their exit.
A group of rebels flew toward them in aircraft, charging forward like a gust of wind.
"You succeeded! Get out of here quickly—Boundless is about to be destroyed!" Vladi shouted, sweat covering her brow. She'd noticed the metal planet collapsing and knew that if they didn't leave quickly, they'd all be reduced to cosmic dust!
The aircraft stopped in front of the rescued people, and Vladi jumped down and bowed to Goku and the others. Everyone behind her expressed their thanks, tears of excitement filling their eyes.
Relatives and friends reunited, embracing each other, experiencing the joy of reunion after long separation.
"Now is not the time for reminiscing," Vladi urged. "Everyone, we need to leave first. Our spaceship is nearby—let's get there by aircraft!"
"Great!"
The newly freed prisoners retreated with the rebel army, boarding the aircraft and heading for the spaceship. But Goku and the others remained motionless.
Vladi looked surprised. "What's wrong? Don't you want to leave?"
"My brother is still inside," Goku said.
"Could it be..."
"Mr. Raditz!" The orange-haired girl clasped her hands and prayed for him. Two clear streams flowed from the corners of her eyes, like a frozen lake melting into a gentle river.
Suddenly, the gradually shattering planet erupted with a massive explosion. Flames blasted from the surface as magma-like heat flows spread, erupting from canyons while molten metal rushed in all directions.
From within the flames, Raditz emerged slowly. His hair was disheveled, his face pale, his clothes in tatters, and his body covered in bloody cuts. With his last bit of strength, he staggered out of the inferno before collapsing to the ground.
The orange-haired girl rushed to support him, gently resting his head on her lap. Feeling the soft comfort beneath him, Raditz let out a relieved sigh: "I'm alive again..."
