Chapter 37. Low Grade vs High Grade(2)
The kiss didn’t last long, not because they weren’t willing to do it, but because they have bigger problems to deal with.
‘How can I keep on kissing in the middle of a fight?’
As much I wanted to kiss more, I had to compromise. If I waste more time, I don’t know what that devil will do.
“This…”
Taken aback by the sudden kiss, Miria blushed and covered her mouth as she tried to retreat behind, but she couldn’t do it. A hand grabbed her, and without a doubt it was the boy, no, the man in front of her - Kurt.
“This… is a gift from your loved one to you.”
I whispered in her ears, clearly making her blush. To see the cool and aloof Miria making such a face is a treat in itself.
“Kurt…”
“Don’t worry. I won’t die. I still have my massage appointment. I won’t slack off at that time. So, you better be prepared for it. ”
Massage Appointment, these two words made her remember her promise, and Miria blushed again, daydreaming about the events that could happen between her and Kurt.
But that didn’t lighten the worry she had for him. Despite Kurt’s carefree words, she knew the difficulty against something that monstrous. Miria herself is a hunter. And a hunter’s best quality is to be able to judge danger.
‘That man… He is like a demon, but more, way more dangerous even more than a calamity beast. Kurt, please be safe.’
She knew her cries, her pleas or anything else can’t stop Kurt anymore. And she knows the reason, to save herself Kurt is diving into the pit.
‘If only I could be stronger…’
Let alone facing it alone, she can’t even assist him. Her weakness made her feel the worst. But somewhere in the depths of her heart, a will to become stronger was awakening. But that’s the talk of the future.
For now…
‘I can’t do anything except pray for Kurt’s wellbeing. Then…’
Miria did the only thing she could do. She prayed to god for her lover’s wellbeing.

What defines a villain?
I have asked this question to myself countless times. The huge difference between heroes and villains. And before I could realise, I knew the answer.
It’s selfishness.
“Come, devil!”
I know I am weak. I know I might die. Yet, I am here facing him instead of fleeing. And I am not doing it for a grand reason.
I am just doing it all because I am a villain.
‘And let me tell you, I, Kurt Von Ritzburg, am the most selfish person in the world! Money, girls, and the world. I want it all, even if I have to face you or him.’
{A/N: You = Oliver, Him = The main protagonist - Shin}
I didn’t know what happened to me, but all of the sudden I could feel my clouded mind cleared. It's as if some wall in my mind has been broken.
My heart started to beat fast, and mana started to appear all around me. For the moment, I felt invincible.
My magic blade was in my hands. The mana started to seep into it, and the white blade came out of the hilt, shining bright in this dark night.
“Another magic tool. All those useless tricks. In front of absolute strength, it is all nothing but a piece of rubble. That won’t be enough to stop me.”
The magic blade didn't even faze his confidence. With his usual arrogance, he looked down on me. But that’s expected.
He is the devil.
“It is enough.”
But what if he is the devil? I am Kurt Von Ritzburg, the selfish-est man.
With no more hesitation, I raised my sword and closed my eyes. I know I can’t defeat him as I am. All I can do is injure him.
But that’s alright. I will instil my all in this one strike.
In an instant, my whole body swelled in strength, enough to make the veins burst. Blood started to profuse out, and pain enveloped all around.
The senses were going berserk. Overclock amplified my senses several times, causing my mind to fumble. And the rest of the mana went to the sword, which grew brighter and brighter.
Kurt stood in the night with a bright white sword against white man holding an ominous coloured star on his hands.
This moment is truly like the ones in the tales. A human facing against the insurmountable demon king.
And after a moment of silence, both of them met each other’s eyes and knew what to do.
“Die!” x2
Oliver poured as much mana he could to that humongous ball of compressed demonic mana and threw it without any hesitation.
All in front of me was nothing but a huge red-black coloured sun which seemed to destroy me and the whole place. But surprising enough, I wasn’t scared anymore.
The moment I established my identity as a selfish person, the moment I felt my head cleared, I felt myself at peace.
And the world in front of me changed. The beautiful colours faded away, and I found myself in the middle of this grey world.
All the surroundings were in slow motion, and in my eyes the time stopped. The ultimate of Overclock. I was in that state.
“This is…”
And instinctively, I saw a path. A straight path for my sword. And I didn’t doubt it. My body came to play and even before I could think, it moved and brought down the sword.
Slash!
With a sharp sound, a bright white coloured arc erupted out from my sword and went towards the ball, slashing through it and continued to head towards the devil.
“What?!”
Finding it to be impossible, Oliver was shocked to see his attack cutted in half. But that was not too important for him because the attack didn’t stop and was coming towards him.
“Argh!”
The speed was beyond his expectations and before he could completely dodge it, it slashed him. But fortunately enough, it was a shallow one, and his unhuman physique didn’t fail him.
“I am alive. If I didn’t try to dodge it, then…”
He couldn’t believe that he could have died here. And plus in the hands of a kid who hasn’t even grown yet. This time he was more than just simply sure that this kid will be his hindrance.
“I will kill him!”
With fury and fear, Oliver raised his hand and was about to attack once again, but before he could take action…
Boom! Boom!
The leftover parts of the ball which was slashed into two pieces by Kurt’s sword exploded making a huge rumble, destroying the mansion and its surroundings into pieces. Dust arose due to its impact and by the time it cleared, the figures of Kurt and Miria were nowhere.
